Al Franken..The latest loonbat Politician from Minnesota..
Al Franken used his time in front of the camera to say he had never heard of a single circumstance where a civilian had ever used an AR-15 for self-defense.This led me to an idea and I need your help. If Sen. Al Franken can’t find any examples maybe we could and in the process make sure Franken can NEVER again make such an absurd claim.Print out an example article or write a statement and send it U.S. Mail. A stamped letter will do, but to really make it impactful, spend an extra dollar or two and require a signature or delivery confirmation. You can send it to his state or Washington D.C. address below.Al Franken

What a great idea! Senator Franken doesn’t think ARs and other modern rifles are used for self defense. We know otherwise. Print up the articles or clip them from your news paper, and mail them to Senator Franken’s offices. Add in the signature confirmation and when you get the confirmation back post it and the story on a blog. (If you don’t have a blog you can email me at weerdbeard (AT) gmail (DOT) Com).

OMG go have a look! To be fair one of those pictures looks more like a Gosling, and one is most definitely a cygnet, but when it comes to baby waterfowl I’m an all-inclusive sort of guy!
Squeeeee!
I’ll just say I walked to school when I was a kid:
An 18-month-old girl is dead after she was run over by a school bus that had just offloaded children in a rural East Texas subdivision.
How the hell did this happen? Its illegal to pass a stopped school bus so you don’t run down kids crossing the street or getting out of the bus. I assume the driver has some training to make sure all is clear before he puts the bus in gear????
Wow, well at least it wasn’t a “Gun Death”.

Seriously, WTF??? They got their kids to trash the kitchen and spout political platitudes….
BTW this is how responsible grown ups smash jugs.
Not only is it safer and you learn something rather than make people dumber!
Who is OKing these videos?
I’ve said it dozens of times before, that SWAT teams are the standing armies our Founding Fathers warned us about. Now Tango sends me this article:
The Salt Lake City police detective responsible for a SWAT team ramming the door of a wrong house last year and pointing guns at the elderly woman inside also misled the judge who issued the search warrant, according to documents released by the city.
The narcotics detective, Cooper Landvatter, received a 20-hour suspension for violating search-and-seizure policies, committing conduct unbecoming an officer, and violating what the Salt Lake City Police Department refers to as its “Core Values.”
“The damage to your reputation as a professional and the collective reputation of the department is not easily repaired,” Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank wrote in the discipline letter to Landvatter.
This is one of my greatest fears. There’s NOTHING you can do to safeguard from this, and it can happen to literally ANYONE and the penalties for such errors are trivially minor.
Factor in the various home invasions by various gangs who kit up like Police and shout “Police!” as they break and enter your home so they can get compliance for rapes and get assistance from the home owners in their robbery, and this gets VERY scary.
If you’re not a criminal, and somebody kicks down your door and shouts “Police!” you’re dead, because if you comply it might NOT be police, and if you fight back you’ll be killed. Hell even if you comply with legitimate officers you might get killed as well!
OK now that was the LIGHT part of my post, listen to this!
Landvatter also told investigators he felt pressure from his supervisors to obtain and serve a search warrant once a month. He referred to the requirement as a “quota.” The review board report called that “a very poor policy,” but said it did not contribute significantly to the incorrect raid.
Salt Lake City Police Department spokeswoman Lara Jones declined to discuss the findings due to what she said was a claim filed against the city. It was unclear to what claim she was referring. Landvatter did not respond to a request for an interview sent through Jones.
Get that? There’s a search warrant QUOTA!!! Think of how quickly this clashes with the 4th Amendment!! How can you regulate Probable cause so that searches happen with a predictable regularity?
This also sheds a LOT of light on the raid in Ogden. The man in question was growing a few pot plants, and he had a regular job with good attendance. Their suspect routinely and predictably would leave his home and go to a workplace where guns are likely forbidden. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be armed, but given his work history, and his military background, it sounds like a safer bet to arrest him as he leaves his home to go to work, driving to work, or at work.
But police chose to go forward with a SWAT raid….with word of this quota policy (and if Salt Lake PD is doing it, you can bet other departments are doing it too) things get really scary!
Again, SWAT teams are the standing armies our Founding Fathers warned us about!
There are a ton of gun companies based in anti-gun states. Some just happen to be in places where the industrial revolution boomed and they haven’t moved since…others, well I have no idea.
Still its a wonder why we haven’t heard stuff like this before:
As a far-reaching gun-control measure aims to ban assault weapons in Maryland, neighboring states are trying to woo away a Beretta factory, whose employees would be unable to buy some of its products.
Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, who represents the district where the factory is located in Accokeek and has received $12,000 in campaign contributions from Beretta since 2005, noted Friday that senators changed the bill with Beretta in mind, but he says the company still isn’t happy.
“We have, I think, helped the company as best we possibly can in terms of them continuing to be able to do business in the state of Maryland,” said Miller, who voted for the bill, although he expressed misgivings about it. “We’ve allowed them to manufacture. We’ve allowed them to sell, and we’ve cut back on their paper work.”
But West Virginia and Virginia are looking to capitalize on the company’s dissatisfaction with the measure.
On Thursday, West Virginia House Speaker Rick Thompson said he had written to Beretta to offer West Virginia as a suitable location because it’s “where the people understand and care about your industry.”
Thompson said his state has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the country, behind only Alaska, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. He also said that it would not support gun-control measures such as those being discussed in Maryland.
The state they live in, and pay taxes to want them to go extinct. Can you blame them?
More companies need to do this. If you hate guns, gun makers, and gun owners, then stop taking their sweet sweet tax monies!
My new car is almost a year old now, and I haven’t washed it ONCE yet. Nobody NEEDS to wash their car!
A 72-year-old woman was killed in a Southeast Texas car wash after an unsecured vehicle that was being cleaned ran her over.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Juana Gonzalez and her family were waiting for their truck at the car wash in Conroe on Saturday when an attendant accidentally put the vehicle in drive instead of neutral just before placing it on an automated car wash track.
Conroe police say the vehicle sped through the car wash and ended up crashing into Gonzalez, who was about 50 feet away.
I’m not coming for your car wash, I just think all AUTOMATED car washes are dangerous death machines. Plus any true car lover and driver washes their car by hand, you don’t NEED one of these death machines.
IF IT SAVES JUST ONE LIFE!11!!! WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!11!!

More swords! WILL WE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
A San Antonio man is accused of using a sword to fatally stab a friend in the chest in an argument over a woman.
San Antonio police officer Matt Porter says Christopher Shows has been charged with murder in the killing early Tuesday at an apartment complex in the South Texas city.
Porter says the men had been drinking alcohol together and that the victim apparently made a pass at Shows’ girlfriend.
Why can’t we rid the world of this Bronze-age technology and go back to the more peaceful Stone Age!
Or maybe we need to look harder at banning alcohol….or women….or something!
Joan has a generally listless screed out on the issue of research on guns and gun violence:
The case for doing research on guns and gun violence is crucial. When so many people die of anything in this country, we get to work and study why, how, who, and where. That is as it should be. Of course, not so for guns. The NRA has made sure that Americans are as dumb as possible when it comes to guns. Why? Because studying an issue, providing causes, effects and solutions actually leads to good results. And good results might find that having a gun in the home for self defense might lead to someone in the home getting shot. Or carrying a gun in public might lead to an accident or someone shooting a person unnecessarily. It might lead to laws that make it harder, rather than easier, for some people to get guns.
What Joan is pissed at is that research on gun control is not funded by the public larder. Joan makes it sound like NO research on the issue is going on. Of course that’s a lie, she cites all sorts of Joyce and Bloomberg funded “studies”, and God bless them.
Further Mike Bloomberg just dumped $2 Million on an Illinois election! If you’re so concerned about research, why don’t you question that huge sum of cash being spent on what very well could have been a win for them either way? (Of course the reality is the antis are losing the battle, so they NEEDED this as a “Victory” and Joan blogs on it as such)
Sorry its not ILLEGAL to research guns and violence, and the data is there from the FBI and the CDC, just its illegal to do agenda based research on that data…for either side, if that research is funded by government grants.
So really Joan is butthurt because THEY have to pay for their own research. Joan isn’t the only one harping on this. This is telling me they’re in financial troubles.
