Catch 22

About that Million Dollar Reward, several people called the police when Dorner surfaced in Big Bear. Will they be splitting the million bucks? Likely Not!

But it may not be who gets the reward, but whether anyone does. It may have been offered with a catch: capture and conviction.

Beck said at the time the reward was offered, “The reward is for the capture and conviction.”

Since Dorner was not convicted of the murders, and in fact was simply a suspect who technically was murdered himself, Cali may simply stiff the good citizens who did the brave action and called in the cops on a wanted man.

Its not like California has any money, and they’ll be owing Millions, for all the damages and settlements from their rampaging police force.

Gives you the warm-fuzzies, doesn’t it?

Democrats and that Three Letter Words

J-O-B-S

Magpul and Colorado:

A package of gun control measures that won initial approval in Colorado’s Democratic-controlled House Friday night could result in several hundred jobs lost at the state’s largest manufacturer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Erie-based Magpul Industries has threatened to leave the state if lawmakers are successful in passing the sweeping gun-control package, which limits the number of rounds a magazine can hold, according to The Denver Post.

“If we’re able to stay in Colorado and manufacture a product, but law-abiding citizens of the state were unable to purchase the product, customers around the state and the nation would boycott us for remaining here,” Doug Smith, Magpul’s chief operating officer, told The Post.

And Massachusetts!

Massachusetts will lose more than 60,000 jobs, much of it in the defense industry, and $127 million in federal research funding, harming a critical sector of the state economy, if Congress allows across-the-board spending cuts to go into effect in March, according to a report released Friday by Representative Edward Markey of Malden.

The automatic cuts, known in Beltway parlance as “sequestration,” were scheduled to take place in January under a 2011 budget deal to raise the nation’s debt limit, but the crisis was temporarily averted when Congress struck a last-minute New Year’s Eve bargain.

Jobs are super important to them!

Well Said

Magazine Bans will get good people killed!

Those who propose gun control laws are 100% fine with more good people getting killed. Why else are they so fixated on “Gun Death”? The more people killed, the more political capital they get to continue their anti-freedom agenda.

Me? I’m for protecting lives and making our streets and towns SAFER!

A Victory For Rights

Bangor Daily News attempted to publish all Maine CCW permit holders, and was thwarted!

The Bangor Daily News has rescinded its request for records about concealed weapon permit holders in the state of Maine. We have informed the agencies who received our request to disregard it. We’ve informed the agencies who have responded that their records will be destroyed.

We are disappointed with the reaction to our request, which we felt was with the best intentions to help study issues affecting Maine through an analysis of publicly available data. We will continue our reporting, but will use other sources of information to do so.

The BDN regrets that its request for information may have been taken as a personal attack on concealed carry permit holders, some of whom work at the BDN.

“Help Study The Issue”? What issue is this? Its not like Maine CCW carriers are committing crimes. Further there is a long history of News Papers publishing people’s personal information for pure political reasons, and those publications have lead to assaults and burglaries.

Also given that this is my home state of Maine, I know several people who got their carry permits as a means to back up a protective order against people who have threatened violence against them. I think we all know publishing their name and addresses only makes people less safe!

Good work people of Maine from pushing back against the anti-freedom pro-criminal paper!

More TSA Failure

On So Many Levels:

Authorities say Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had to be privately screened after an airline employee allowed them to bypass a security checkpoint at New York’s Kennedy International Airport.

So first we have special treatment for what passes for “Celebrities” these days.

She says after clearing customs and baggage, they were escorted by an airline employee “through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight.”

Farbstein says this violated security protocols by bypassing the TSA checkpoint. She says that prompted TSA officials to conduct the private screening.

Actually seems reasonable if they have a VIP Escort through a sterile area. Of course given that there are no protocols, who knows how effective this is.

And again they were screened, and like all TSA screenings, nothing was found, and no terrorists were apprehended.

Let’s do the right thing, let’s make it easier on the “Celebrities” by disbanding the TSA! It might have some nice side-effects for “Regular People”. Also for those who are concerned about security, the new Disbanded TSA will continue to supply security at airports, bus stations, public bathrooms, and discos at the same quality level, just without us paying them, or them being around!

Gastropod Sex

We were talking about it briefly on The Squirrel Report, the nudibranch sex story!

As hermaphrodites, the diverse group of brightly colored sea slugs called nudibranches are already considered unusual when it comes to sex. But one species does something particularly peculiar: Chromodoris reticulata detaches and discards its penis after mating, then grows another to go again 24 hours later, according to a study published this week (February 13) in Biology Letters.

Having collected the sea slugs from reefs off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, researchers observed the creatures mating in tanks. They saw that sea slugs that had recently mated could not do so again for at least 24 hours. Then they noticed the reason why: the sea slugs sloughed off their male sex organs around 20 minutes after mating, leaving them without the anatomy required to repeat the trick until it grew back a day or so later.

Really cool, a more in-deptch story here

Still this isn’t as odd in the Mollusk family, many cephalapods do the same thing with a mating arm that gets broken off in the female where it continues to copulate.

And we also talked about this video on the show:

In case you don’t buy the re-enactment, its 100% true. Also the bit about the anus would be BETTER if it was on top of its head, instead shelled gastropods defecate onto their own gills, that’s the drawback of that armored shell!

And last where would this post be without this song?
