Turd Polish

I was hanging out with Wally one evening and I was admiring his Finnish target Mosin. For those who have never seen one, picture a Mosin Nagant M91/30 with a custom target stock with adjustable butt-pad, target stock comb, and a heavy target forend. Add on a a very crisp trigger, and a very nice long-range target diopter sight.

Wally said “That’s about as much polish as you can throw on a turd!

Wally was wrong!

Man, on one hand I’m amazed by this rifle. Its a classic rifle done to commemorate an impressive weapon designer. On the other hand its so far from what the design was meant to be. A cheap rugged rifle you could put into the hands or a poorly trained army of conscripts and do a LOT of damage.

I think I’ll side with admiration if only because it got the Communist Mikhail Kalashnikov to sign his name to 100 pieces of American Decadence!

.22 Plinkster’s Tribute to Bob Munden

Man I hadn’t heard that Bob Munden had passed. He was only 60 too!

.22 Plinkster paid his respects in a fitting way!

Crazy good shot! You can hear the wind and see that balloon dancing! Also there is no doubt about the distance, as you can see a noticeable delay from when the gun reports and the balloon pops!

For those not familiar with Bob and his work, I dug up this video

You will be missed, and you will be forever remembered!

(On an interesting note, its neat to see him using a S&W1911 when he’s not using his SAA)

“Gun Death” Fire

More drive-by attacks with fire:

Colorado police are searching for two suspects after four victims were sprayed with a flammable substance and then set on fire Thursday night.

One of the victims told police two men walked into her Denver home and demanded drugs or threatened to set the house on fire. She believes the suspects may have had the wrong address.

A female victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition, KDVR reports.

Again, not a “Gun Death”, but hey, banning guns will somehow reduce violence, right?

Good Quality Ass-Kicking

Bulgarian Leader Threatened with Air Pistol:

Bulgarian police detained a man after he pointed a gas pistol at an ethnic Turkish party leader as he was delivering a speech at a party caucus in the capital Saturday. No shots were fired.

The video from the Saturday event in Sofia shows the man climbing the podium where Ahmed Dogan, the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, was speaking, and pointing the gun to his face.

Dogan struck the man before he could pull the trigger, while other delegates wrestled the assailant to the ground. TV footage showed several people punching, kicking and stomping on the man when he was on the ground.

Have a look at the video. I bet he doesn’t think it was such a hot idea now!

That’s a wholesale ass-kicking!

More Political Transperency

A great article on those White House Petitions:

About a month ago, I said that the White House’s “We The People” online petition site was “ensuring its legacy as a total joke.” I know, that’s pretty harsh. But at the time, it really looked like the experiment in active citizenship was going to burn out. When I made that statement, the site had a whopping 48 petitions that were sitting, unanswered by the White House.

That’s not 48 total petitions. That was 48 petitions that had crossed the 25,000 signature threshold, meaning that by rule they warranted an official response from the White House. 48 (about half of them were crazy secession petitions). Since then, 2 of the 48 have received responses (and one had to do with building a Death Star)….Thankfully, the White House has done just that. Starting today, new petitions must receive 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to receive a response from the administration. That’s up from the 25,000 that clearly wasn’t working, and 20x what was originally required when the site first opened up in 2011.

The White House allows people sign petitions to get “Important issues” addressed, and the White House Ignores the bulk of them. So they’ve raised the threshold of petitions, so hopefully they’ll be able to ignore LESS of them.

Frankly the only use for this site is to laugh at how popular gun control is in America.

More TSA Perv-O-Scanner Drama

I can’t believe we’re paying for this bullshit agency!

The Transportation Security Administration is pulling the plug on its nude body scanner program, a decision announced Friday that closes the door to a tumultuous privacy battle with the public scoring a rare victory.

Travelers will continue to go through one of two types of scanners already deployed, but images of naked bodies will no longer be produced. Instead, software will instead show a generic outline of a person.

First tested in 2007, the advanced imaging technology scanners became the object of intense media and public scrutiny around Thanksgiving in 2010. In addition to privacy concerns, some experts maintained the scanners’ safety was unproven, and that the technology was ineffective in detecting smuggled weapons and explosives. Travelers are permitted to opt-out of the scan, but are then subjected to an aggressive pat-down procedure.

This is replacing the “Safe” X-Ray scanners, that have been deemed unsafe…so we can really trust these goons.

And then there’s this:

The government has spent about $90 million replacing traditional magnetometers with the controversial body-scanning machines at airports nationwide.

Rapiscan had a contract to produce 500 machines for the TSA at a cost of about $180,000 each. The company could be fined and barred from participating in government contracts, or employees could face prison terms if it is found to have defrauded the government. In all, the 250 Rapiscan machines already deployed are to be phased out of airports nationwide and will be replaced with machines produced by L-3 Communications.

The move away from Rapiscan machines is more than a boost to privacy.

Unlike the competing millimeter-wave technology produced by L-3 Communications that employ radio waves to detect metallic and non-metallic substances, the Rapiscan machines expose travelers to a small X-ray dose. The TSA and Rapiscan maintained the machines are safe, despite some academics telling the White House (.pdf) that the government did not adequately study the backscatter X-ray devices.

The TSA’s announcement ironically comes after its December decision to commission the National Academy of Sciences — a private non-profit filled with engineering and science scholars — ”to estimate radiation exposure resulting from backscatter X-ray advanced imaging technology.”

Both companies’ machines were the subject of a lawsuit brought by the Electronic Privacy Information Center, which charged that the machines were ineffective, unsafe and were an unconstitutional privacy breach.

Hey, but at least we’ve caught a TON of terrorists for the BILLIONS of dollars spent on all this crap!

Foodie Funny

Discovered these two “Recipes” today and laughed my ass off.

“Recipe” for Ice

2 cups water (approximately)
2 tablespoons water (additional if needed)

Directions:

1
Empty the ice cubes that are left in the trays (if there are any left) into the bin.
2
Take the trays over to the sink and fill them with cold water.
3
Place the water filled ice trays back in the freezer.
4
Replace the ice bin if you had to remove it.
5
Shut the door to the freezer.

And How to Boil Water

3
Place your pot in the sink under the tap. If you have never used a sink before, it is the large depression in your counter top. (If you live with someone else, they may have filled it with dirty dishes; in this case, wash them or simply remove them from the sink and place them in the oven — someone else will eventually discover them there and wash them.).

And when its from Food.com where I grab a ton of recipes when I’m cooking, it makes it even MORE funny!

That Rosa Parks Line

There’s the line going around that “I Don’t NEED an AR-15 with 30 round magazines any more than Rosa Parks NEEDED to sit in the front of the bus”.

Now first, to be fair I’ve never been physically endangered because I had to sit in the back of a bus, but there are lots of people alive today because they had an AR-15 handy.

Still my big point is antis will say “Yeah but guns are dangerous, and need to be controlled”….what they forget is the peckerwoods in the Jim Crow south thought blacks were pretty dangerous, and needed to be kept under control.

Of course my rifle with an “extended pistol grip”, or a collapsible stock, or a threaded barrel, or my various magazines that hold more than 10 rounds pose about as much danger to society as a black man drinking from the “Whites Only” Drinking fountain, or holding hands with a white woman.

Some of the supporters of Jim Crow were the evil racists that you see plastered on movies or documentaries, but most of them were honest, but ignorant people raised up just to think that blacks were indeed different than whites…just because.

Same goes for the anti-gun people. We have the anti-gun equivalent to the KKK Knight Riders, who are active and are pushing known misinformation, but most of the boots on the ground are people who don’t know ANYTHING, but have been trained since birth to FEAR what they don’t understand.

Remember to point that out to the next group of people who want to push gun bans. Tell them you’ll talk again once they’ve done a little research, and better understand the issue.

More Piers Being an Idiot

I think Peirs Morgan is the best thing for the gun rights debate

First up, again with the “100 Round Magazines” crap. Like that’s relevant, as Peirs wants to ban 30 round magazines, as well as 20, 15, hell maybe even 10. Red Herring!

Also his citation of “Facts” from Aurora are dubious, we don’t know who was shot with what. Certainly there were a lot of people hit with shotgun shot from that event, but they’re concentrating on the AR….because that’s what they want to ban, so facts be damned.

Also its obvious he doesn’t actually want to talk to his guests, he just wants to bloviate. This is what a gun-banner looks and acts like.

“Gun Death” When Ivory is Banned…

Some may not know, but elephant ivory has similar restrictions on it as machine guns. Harvesting ivory is illegal now, and all previously collected pieces are registered and permitted.

Leading to murders to be committed with fake pieces:

A ‘deranged’ grandson beat his grandmother to death with a fake elephant tusk today because he believed she had entranced him with a voodoo spell, it has been claimed.

Dominick Anderson, 26, allegedly flew into a violent rage at Beverly Holmes’ New York apartment, after he found a doll and pictures of himself in her closet while doing the Christmas cleaning.

I think we also need “Common Sense” 1st Amendment controls, as Voodoo is a religion of war, and practice of it should be banned!
