Robb and the Facts of SYG

Robb Allen writes up a nice fact sheet of talking points for Stand Your Ground Laws.

If you live in Florida you NEED these facts to help combat the misinformation being used to attack SYG, and repeal it for the safety of criminal in Florida.

For those of us in the other states, if we have SYG it is also under attack. If you don’t have a SYG law, your state really needs one.

Gun Lust

I love 7.62x51mm/.308 Win for an all-round cartridge. My go-to platform for sending that load down-range is my FAL, which I love.

That being said, while the FAL is much cheaper to own, and parts availability is MUCH better, the FN SCAR-17 is an AMAZING platform:

Its light with GREAT ergonomics. Also I’m a HUGE fan of left-handed charging guns. It takes a bit to get used to when you’ve spent your life pulling the bolt carrier with your right hand, but once you get used to it, it MUCH better IMHO.

Of course the folding/adjustable stock is standard making it illegal in Massachusetts 🙁

Some Joan Peterson Quotes

She’s a bit more talkative than normal. Been tossing out some gems. First you might have read this one in the comments of one of my last posts:

As to the slanted VPC report, you provided me with a link to a paper written by Clayton Cramer, a well know gun right activist and author in support of gun rights. And he is not slanted? Come on Bryan, you can do better than that.

Yep, a well-written paper by Clayton Cramer is biased and should be ignored, while garbage from Joyce is wonderful! Also neat that she’s quick to drop the bias flag (I don’t blame her, if she read the paper it would make her cry!) We can note that Anti-rights people ONLY cite studies, surveys, and papers written by other people who work for the same groups that they do. Their ideology only exists in a pocket of “reality” that they created for themselves.

From the same thread:

The only agenda the Violence Policy Center has to collect data and write reports about gun violence statistics. They are based on real live incidents and shootings. They don’t have a political agenda any more than Clayton Cramer does. He has an agenda. Are you trying to say he doesn’t? So if someone writes on your side of the issue, they have no agenda? I don’t accept that Bryan. The link you sent is one that accepts research from anyone who wants to submit it. The VPC is reporting on shootings of permit holders. If they shoot themselves in a suicide or a homicide/suicide, it doesn’t then count as someone misusing a gun? You are trying to dismiss the fact that permit holders are not all law abiding. You can’t because the facts speak for themselves. It happens that I trust the VPC more than I trust a gun right advocate who has a clear agenda.

LOL!

And from this post:

Of course, people should be trained when they carry guns around. You are aware though, that no training is required to buy a gun. Some states require no training for permit holders. That is a major problem, to say the least. Gun ranges are fine. Who needs “tactical” training as if going to war. That is not necessary. The average gun owner is not going to be in situations that require tactical training. Some of you gun guys imagine yourself in situations like that where you will be fighting against your own government on the streets of America. A makeshift gun range in a residential neighborhood is just plain wrong and dangerous. Find places outside of town. Even those have had problems however. In Texas, there was a shooting of a young boy playing basketball on a school’s playground when a bullet from some guys target shooting in a woods nearby ( in a rural area) hit the boy. In my area, several guys were target shooting in the woods when a bullet from one of their guns flew across a major highway and ended up shooting a little girl on her way into her church. These are totally irresponsible and unacceptable. Guns are inherently dangerous and should be treated with the ultimate respect.Too many gun owners are cavalier about this and don’t practice the rules of safety. If even one life is lost as a result, it is one too many.

Now note she puts scare quotes around “Tactical” because she has NO idea what that means…just that its bad. Also note that shooting in residential areas is bad…and shooting in rural areas is bad. But she doesn’t want to ban guns and shooting…no, not at all!

Thanks Joan, you’re great for a laugh! Keep wasting those Joyce Foundation dollars, soon that well will run dry, and you’ll need to find a REAL job!

Quote of the Day: Bryan

This quote from Bryan Strawser says it all:

I didn’t live in Minnesota when our current carry law was passed in 2003 – but the folks that were heavily involved in getting it passed are quite sure they never said anything like that.

But there does exist good video of some state legislators and our local activist friends talking about “blood in the streets”….

The anti-rights cult likes to point to any violent act by a gun owner who was otherwise lawful as a damnation of every lawful gun owner. They frequently cry some variation of “You said all gun owners would follow the law!”

Of course nobody said this. Its a straw man.

On the other hand its well documented all the instances where the cult claims that relaxing a gun law, will result in “Blood in the streets” “People having gun battles over parking spaces” and “Old West Style Shootouts”.

Of course those statements are demonstrably false!

The core of the anti-freedom ideology is lies!

Cher Lies

You can tell she’s lying when she says “I Think”….she doesn’t:

Yeah we’re all racist, and Obama has been the most disrespected President since Jeffersonian times…..or since his predecessor was in office.

The discussion segment is pretty entertaining too.

Yep, thugs jumped out of a limo and started randomly beating the tar out of people with their fists!

Somebody should pass a law!

“Gun Death” Inside

Those who use the metric of “Gun Death” imply that if guns were banned, murder would vanish. In places where guns are banned they have turned to banning other tools that can be used for weapons. You know what this Utopia would look like? A Prison!

Authorities told the Lawton Constitution the victim was a 25-year-old man. Police Capt. Wade Shaw says authorities are still investigating the stabbing to determine what happened.

Police and medical responders were called to the prison shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a man who’d been stabbed in both wrists and the head. The man was taken to a hospital where he died.

Shaw said the stabbing happened inside one of the prison pods. He wouldn’t speculate on what type of weapon was used.

Murders in prison aren’t rare. You see while all weapons are banned there, violent murderous people are the common population. Where there is a will there is a way, and the will is there. The same can be said about illegal drugs. People want to get high, they get drugs, no matter how illegal they are.

If they can’t stamp out the weapons in prisons, why would you believe the pushes from the antis claiming that passing such laws would lead to safer streets?

$1milion Reward Offerd for Info On Brian Terry’s Murder

The lid is blowing off fast and furious to almost critical mass:

The Justice Department on Monday unsealed an indictment charging five individuals allegedly involved in Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s death, and announced a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the arrest of those suspects still at large.

For the first time, federal officials also revealed that Terry and an elite squad of federal agents initially fired bean bags — not bullets — at a heavily armed drug cartel crew in the mountains south of Tucson in December 2011. During the exchange, Terry was shot and killed.

The more info comes out about Fast and Furious and Agent Terry’s murder, the more it makes the anti-rights cult who defends Eric Holder at all costs look like the monsters they are!

Another Slick Car on Carcast

Looks VERY subtle from first glance, but MAN its slick!

The whole podcast is here.

I once test-drove a Mercedes C-Class with a blown motor, and Mercedes had everything lined and insulated so that you couldn’t hear the screws of the supercharger compressing the air. That’s BULLSHIT! I love the whine of turbos and blowers. When Adam started throwing some revs through the plant it got me giggling!
