Wow, the thing weighed practically nothing, didn’t quite feel titanium light, but its obviously to the touch not stainless steel. It was also scary sharp. I brushed my finger over the blade gently and decided to better test it on my thumb nail…glad I did!
Blade and handle are a carbide monolith with a hollow grind. Man it was a nice knife!
Those who use “Gun Death” frequently talk about expanding the definition of “Mentally Ill” so they can take more rights away from more people. Its their goal in life, and they’ll do it any way they can. Of course they don’t care about the mayhem from crazy people without guns.
Police have arrested a man they say fatally stabbed another man late Sunday outside a Northeast Austin pawn shop. Thomas Ray Brock, 35, was in custody at the Travis County Jail on Wednesday charged with murder. His bail has been set at $400,000.
Brock’s arrest affidavit said that police were dispatched to the EZ Pawn in the 5200 block of Cameron Road about 4:30 a.m. Monday after a 911 caller said a man was bleeding and unconscious near the store. The victim, Luis Hernandez Vigil, was pronounced dead at the scene, the affidavit said….Brock later told detectives that he committed the killing because he heard voices in his head and “had been reincarnated and replicated over the years,” the document said, and that he committed the act so that people would believe him.
Isn’t that nice! Of course the only way to prevent this is give more people the power to STOP this when it happens. Those who use “Gun Death” as a metric don’t want that.

A suspect was arrested Wednesday in connection with a burglary last week at Shooter’s Supply in Superior….Officers with the Duluth and Superior police departments worked together to make the arrest in Duluth based on a felony warrant issued in Douglas County. Information gathered during the investigation provided the basis for the warrant.
Cody James Johnson, 19, was arrested on a warrant for burglary, arming self with dangerous weapons. He is lodged in the St. Louis County Jail awaiting extradition.
Joan laments that guns got into the illegal market. I agree that that sucks, nobody wants the criminal element to be armed. But let’s again look at this story.
First up, it sucks that criminals get guns….but name a nation in the world where the criminals don’t have guns?
Second, Joan is always talking about universal background checks. Does she think that crap would stop STEALING from a shop? Does she think that if Minnesota had laws similar to Massachusetts, this guy would have taken his stolen property to another gun shop to undergo the proper background checks?
Does Joan think that maybe we need less gun shops, so they are less than likely to be robbed? Because that would make complying with her bogus background check laws a LOT harder too. (I would argue that’s the whole point!)
But did you notice something? This guy was a criminal, and arrested without “Pulling the Trigger”. All cops had to do was find him.
Breaking into a store and stealing stuff is a Felony.
Possessing Stolen guns is a Felony.
Him being a previous felon, possessing ANY gun is a Felony.
ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS FIND HIM TO PUT HIM IN JAIL! ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS FIND HIM TO MAKE A GOOD CASE OF SENDING HIM TO PRISON!
Now let’s look at the other side…let’s say we’re suddenly we’re England. Guns are banned, you want a gun? FUCK YOU, you can’t have one. But in this case, the cops don’t find the criminals.
There we see the crux of the pro-rights argument that says “repeal the stupid laws, and enforce the laws we already have!”
The key to this problem is simply enforcement and adjudication. The Anti-Rights side simply states that by adding more laws, that make criminal’s activity just as illegal, and turn people who HURT NOBODY into criminals will solve this problem.

Yep, for being a girl. Good for them.

For those who care, I had about 8 pets that had all starved or been murdered, so I was alone, collecting much-needed food in Sokoban. This owlbear had grabbed me, and my health was running dangerously low.
I made a bad choice by killing him with a bolt of fire. The bolt bounced and hit me….I survived that. But my potions of Gain Ability, and Potion of Gain Level (seriously! Now that’s just cruel!) boiled and exploded and THAT killed me!
I should have used the wand of sleep to knock him out and kill the bastard while he snored.
Oh well, this is what makes the game the greatest!

This comes up a LOT about George Zimmerman. “He should have never gotten out of his car!” or “He was Stalking Martin!” etc etc.
First go have a read of Bob’s post here, and he makes some great points that I feel no need of addressing.
I will say that Zimmerman is well documented in being concerned about the safety of his neighborhood, his property, and the property of his neighborhood. He states concerns about break-ins on the non-emergency call to Police.
Then he notes that Martin runs off.
Now let’s not use 20/20 hindsight. The discovery pages note that Zimmerman has called the police several times about suspicious persons, and the police arrived too late to find the suspect every time.
Here’s my question. At this point why would you stay in your car? Why would you call the police in the first place?
Now most of us don’t take up the mantle of neighborhood watch that Zimmerman does, and I’m sure many of us COULD have called the cops for something they saw, but chose not to bother.
But Zimmerman DID. Not knowing that an attack that would turn deadly was about to transpire (and honestly, I still don’t understand WHY the events as they appear to happen DID happen and result in Zimmerman with a battered face, and Martin dead), wouldn’t you try not to lose track of Martin so MAYBE the Police could find him when they arrived.
Otherwise, I’d just assume the cops would have made a lap of the neighborhood and then head home finding nothing.
Just a thought. What do you think?
Also full disclosure, I’ve worked private security, and I have followed people I suspected were engaging in illegal or dangerous behavior at a safe distance, while waiting for backup before we took action.

Looks like the cause of death was a direct hit from a 9mm JHP to the heart. From all sounds the JHP performed well in terminal ballistics.
The alleged abrasions on Martin’s fists are not well documented. The only evidence I read was a circle with “Abrasions” on the left knuckles in the pictogram. Maybe I missed something?
Toxicology reports low levels of THC. We KNEW this was going to show up no matter what, as Martin was suspended for drug possession at school a week earlier, and it was for an empty baggie and a pipe. We can do the math. Given that THC is a fat-soluble substance it takes a long time to clear exposure from your system (ie: you can smoke crack, or bang heroin on Saturday Night and so long as you keep hydrated, piss clean on Monday morning at work…but you spend an evening in a hash bar in Amsterdam on day one of a week vacation, you still might test positive for marijuana when you get home) and the levels aren’t high. Unless they missed something, evidence indicates he was probably sober at the time of the shooting.
There were signs of mild anthracosis on the lungs, which indicates he was a smoker. Also he had two tattoos, that are only described as “Symbols and letters”, but no notations about dental work. This leads me to believe the pictures of the young man with the gold teeth is NOT Trayvon Martin.
Also his height and weight are given as 71 inches (5’11”) and 158lbs.
There are also the discovery papers here. I haven’t read the whole thing, but it does document the candy, and tea, as well as gives the ammunition headstand as S&B 9mm. Given that its a JHP its probably this stuff. Says a lot for how bullet technology has come, given that this load is a cheap 9mm JHP, and it was fired from a subcompact handgun, but it seemed to have both penetrated, and expanded. I’m generally less picky about advising bullet selection for people with .45s because the round is proven even with poor terminal performance, but the general advise is to spend the money with 9×19 because you don’t want that round to fail. Its an N of 1, but its something.
I’ll have to read the hundred pages when I get a chance, but let me know in the comments if I missed anything, or you find anything interesting in the evidence discovery.
