Like a Moth to Flame

I think this is both telling an ironic.

A candlelight vigil for the victim of a slaying at a Houston park was interrupted by a shooting that’s left another person dead.

Houston police say 35-year-old Dexter August was attending the memorial service Thursday evening when he and another person got into an argument. The other person pulled a gun, shot him in the chest and left.

There is a culture of violence in this country, and there’s a culture of non-violence. Violent people will be violent no matter what tools are available to them, just as the non-violent people will ONLY engage in violence as a last resort, even if they are armed to the teeth.

So you’ll have an open-carry gathering where dozens of armed people will gather, and sometimes they will be harassed by police or anti-gun paid-activists often hurling inflammatory and defamatory statements (such as implying that lawful gun owners are killers), and nobody will be hurt.

Meanwhile people gathered at a memorial to somebody who was likely killed from the culture of violence, who are part of that same culture will kill each other over what is likely a trivial argument, or a minor act of disrespect.

While its all guns in this story, the gun is irrelevant. A criminal with a pocket knife is vastly more dangerous than the attendant of a blogshoot with DOZENS of guns and NFA items.

“Gun Death” Inside

In Prison they strip the inmates of all weapons, and even severely limit the tools carried by the guards. It doesn’t really matter if the will is there.

A man convicted of first-degree murder in the strangling of a fellow Sebastian County jail inmate was sentenced to life in prison Friday….”Don’t show me no mercy,” Kaufman shouted to jurors as they were leaving the courtroom to consider his sentence.

The jury deliberated about 20 minutes before returning with a life sentence recommendation. The nine women and five men had deliberated about two hours before convicting Kaufman.

BTW, tell me what will keep this monster from killing another inmate now? Those who are against the death penalty are simply sentencing lesser criminals to death while keeping the most brutal killers alive at tax payer expense.

Hey, but that’s “civilized” right? Just like killings that aren’t “Gun Death”! These people don’t live in reality.

One Upper!

So Jay is having a fancy-pants custom rifle built by Wally. I guess he calls it “Sting”

The lower isn’t finished yet, so Jay doesn’t have it. So since I had dinner at Wally’s tonight I decided to get my filthy hands on it first!

I won’t mention what other filthy body parts of mine I put on this lower, but Let’s just say Jay is going to have a VERY hard time NOT thinking about that whenever he shoots his slick new AR!

Also if you want a nice Custom lower AR receiver, or a complete custom rifle…or a .22 Sound Suppressor you can contact York Arms here

Oh and I was late to the Squirrel report because just after dinner Wally said: “I was going to mill up some new Lowers, you want to help?”

What could I say besides “YES!!!”.

So yeah now I’m not such a Liar anymore!

No I haven’t assembled an AR rifle from a stripped lower, but now officially I’ve helped build some fancy Aluminum paper weights into some Stripped AR lowers! Was really cool to see York Arms in full action!

Thanks for the good times Wally!

Almost Home

Taking a quick pit-stop at the folks house.

Probably going to stop by Wally’s shop for a quick Hello, and then home. Unless I dally too much around the machine guns, I’ll be home in time for tonight’s Squirrel Report which I have done ZERO prep work for.

BTW, I’m still surprised at how much I love the new Ford Edge, its a really great vehicle to cruise across the countryside in.

Oh, and there is no way I might know this, but a little bird told me that if there is a speed governor on this car its further up the speedometer than would be practical on American roads….

Fun week, but I’m glad to be heading home!

“Gun Death” Brutal Beast

It takes a monster to scare other monsters:

Some inmates who served time with Thomas J. Fox were so disturbed by his words and demeanor that they broke a jailhouse taboo on snitching and helped finger him in the brutal killing of an Oakdale nanny, police say.

The longtime criminal was in court Friday after being indicted by a Washington County grand jury in the fatal stabbing and robbery of Lori Christine Baker as she tried to break up with him last December.

The state’s key witnesses include some who served time with Fox, 44, of St. Paul, who was a fugitive when he first met Baker and began dating her — all the while using a fake name, according to one ex-convict who met Fox in prison.

Its not the tool, its the man who commits the crime. Really says a lot that other inmates were freaked out by this guy. Doesn’t matter if a beast like this has an AK-47, or a philips head screwdriver, they have the desire to kill, and they will accomplish this.

For those of us without this thirst for blood, carry your damn gun!

“Gun Death” Strangling and Beheading

In India where they have very low “Gun Death”

Bollywood actress Meenakshi Thapar reportedly has been gruesomely killed by two of her co-stars in a failed attempt to extort money from her family.

26-year-old Thapar was strangled and then beheaded after allegedly being kidnapped by two aspiring actors that she worked with on her latest film “Heroine”.

Amit Jaiswal, 36, and his lover Preeti Surin, reportedly decided to kidnap Ms. Thapar after listening to her boast about her family’s wealth and status in Dehra Dun, in the Himalayan foothills of northern India, according to Britain’s Daily Telegraph.

Yeah, guns cause crime…

Morning

So begins day three of the surgury course.

Amusing things learned:

-Our instructor (who has a noticeable accent) taught us the “French Canadian Method” of cardiac puncture. Yeah, I’ll need to mess around with that some.

-My surgery skills have grown very rusty from the times when I did these things much more often, but rust polishes away quite quickly…unfortunately not quickly enough before we move to more advanced techniques.

-Vascular surgery in a mouse is work for watchmakers. I can do it, but man it’ll take me some work on that, and I think I’ll be using more of my time for these methods then the others that will be presented.

-Boy I should have been smart and cut that gorgeous steak I had for dinner in half, rather than gorging myself like I did. Rarely do you get meat cooked perfectly from food services!

-Said steak lead to freakish nightmares of mouse innards under high magnification, and then no further sleep from an upset stomach.

Thankfully we’ll only be in class until noon today, then we’ll be touring the park. I suspect the sleep I got will wear off quickly.

Hope y’all are well too!
