Pro-Ignorance, Anti-Freedom

I’m sure you all have seen the various gnashing of teeth and clutching of pearls from the antis about our little meaningful vigil.

What interests me is that not only are they after our freedoms, and attacking us for exercising them, but it appears they never even read our words. Rather choosing various slanderous things to say such as the fact that we’re “Laughing” at victims or other such nonsense.

Again candles don’t save lives, we’re concerned with results, they aren’t, and they’re infuriated at being called on it.

What’s also interesting is how much nasty stuff they’re saying about us, but with the exception of Baldr Odinson (Not his real name), and this Scripture citing charlatan , they haven’t actually been very interested in actually ENGAGING us.

Really they want to bully and intimidate us in effort to get us to shut up or go away. What’s amusing is all of us are just regular people. The participation in my vigil was far and wide, but there were no politicians, NRA Board of Directors, Heads of any Lobby or PAC groups, or even any Major Celebrities. The biggest player we got (and it was after-the-fact) was Massad Ayoob who is an accomplished Author, Trainer, Peace Officer, and Expert Witness, but unless you’re the tiny few people who can say what the initials “IDPA” stand for, you likely don’t know who he is, nor would you recognize him on the street.

So for all their efforts (and Paychecks, as the people doing the attacking are actually PAID to do this), what would they accomplish if they had 100% success?

What would they get if I shut down my blog and turn in my guns at the local “Buy-Back”? NOTHING, there are still millions more like me, and we’re vocal, and we vote.

Morning LOL

OK this is just too silly!

Authorities say a handcuffed man has stolen a police cruiser in northwest Indiana, and he radioed police for help in finding the car’s cigarette lighter and a key to unlock his hands.

Investigators were still looking for 22-year-old William Francis Blankenship early Wednesday morning.

Police say he somehow escaped from the back of the vehicle and fled Tuesday evening after he was arrested on drug charges in Kouts, a small Indiana town about 50 miles southeast of Chicago.

Now picture that scene and try not to laugh! Still I hope the only harm he does it to the interior of that cruiser and some serious hurtin’ on a pack of Winston Light 100s.

If there’s ever a time when you fucking NEED a cigarette, its when you’re handcuffed in the back of a cop car!

Also carry your guns people, because cops make mistakes too!

Paul Bump

So it looks like Ron Paul placed second in the New Hampshire Primary, it’ll be interesting to see where this goes. Santorum who won by only a few votes was essentially tied with Gingrich for 4rd, and they both got beat-out by John Huntsman (D-UT) who skipped Iowa and has been camped out in New Hampshire for the last month.

Certainly it appears that the polls are showing Romney at #1, and Anybody But Romney at #2. Romney has the Republican Machine behind him as he was second place to John McCain (who got Second Place to Barack Obama) in the 2008 Elections, but many are aware that Romney is the Author of Obamacare, and the signer of the Massachusetts Assault Weapons Ban, and is generally an Obama-Lite when it comes to political ideology….my fear is he’s a Super-Obama when it comes to work ethic. President Obama was barely able to pass Obamacare with a Democrat Supermajority in the Legislature, meanwhile Romney passed Romneycare (same bill) in Massachusetts as a Republican in a state that can never have more than 8 or 9 at a time. I Fear Romney as President, and you should too.

Now the other Candidates aren’t much better, and the people appear to be sampling each for a few weeks at a time before discarding them compleatly. We’ll see if Ron Paul (who in a Libertarian State like New Hampshire has a STRONG advantage) has any staying power.

Right now Paul looks like the only guy worth my vote in the Primary.

“Gun Death” Pitbull

Yet another pitbull story.

A Connecticut woman has been charged with criminally negligent homicide in the mauling death of her toddler niece by three pit bulls.

Police say 30-year-old Erica Hobdy was also charged Thursday with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor in the death of 20-month-old Neveah Bryant.

The girl was mauled by three pit bulls on Sept. 30 while she was in Hobdy’s apartment. She later died at a hospital.

Note of course “Pitbull” can be read the same as “Assault Weapon”, its just a dog, and shouldn’t be treated with any more fear, or any less respect than any other dog. All dogs can be potentially dangerous, and unlike guns, animals, having free will, can indeed “Just Go Off”.

Of course this story isn’t pointing to banning dogs, or even specific breeds (which would be an exercise in futility AND stupidity), but charging the adult in charge with the crimes she indeed committed leaving children alone with animals.

VERY good dubstep. I like how smooth the transition from 4/4 time to 6/8 moves. One of the biggest failings of dubstep is how poorly the breakdowns match the body of the song.

Truth and Fiction

So Joe has it as his Quote of the Day.

Nothing like a bunch of beer guzzling, uneducated hillbillies playing with deadly weapons to prove just how ridiculous the 2nd amendment is.

Now I’ll note that Joe and Barron who are in that video are both educated Engineers, and are generally kind, and deep-thinking guys. Don’t know any of the other shooters, but it wouldn’t surprise me if most of them are educated white-collar professionals.

Last weekend the wife and I bellied up to a nice BBQ shack in New Hampshire and spent most of the night talking with the various local gunnies, gun bloggers, and lurkers (BTW Nathan, drop me an email or leave a comment, we need to get together again!). There were a LOT of Engineers, a bunch of nurses and EMTs, a large smattering of Scientists including the Wife and I who are Chemists, and Biologists respectively.

Borepatch remarked that he missed the bog meets since he moved down south, well we missed you too! I will note that Borepatch is some crazy super-genius who knows more about computer security than most, and spent a lot of his time plying his trade in three-letter government agencies that require securities clearances and don’t have much tolerance to “beer swilling Hillbillies”.

JD has a great rebuttal that hits it out of the park.

They tell me as a gun owner I am just a dumb redneck who doesn’t get it. I hold a Bachelors in Psych, and one in Electrical Engineering, I also hold a Master in Engineering Management. .. Yet they call me stupid for looking at the facts and seeing the truth, I am really missing it because of my lack of education. . ..

And to finish it off they tell me it is better that my own wife or daughter is better off at the mercy of some thug who wants to mug, possible rape, beat and kill her than for her to have the know how and tools to defend herself from the bad guy.

Sorry I don’t get it. How can any rational person give up their right to protect themselves and their family when our founders knew it was so important.

Go read the whole thing, its awesome, and I’m proud to call JD a friend, and to know his lovely family (or at least his wife and eldest daughter who are too cool for words).

The truth is, sticks and stones may break our bones, but names will never hurt us. But calling scientists, engineers, researchers, and software developers “a bunch of beer guzzling, uneducated hillbillies” really sends a LOT of insults at YOU rather than us.

So say what you will, we KNOW who we are, and we’re not ashamed!
