Another Good One

Waiting for the wife to be ready to leave (I Know! The first time in human history!) So I’m catching up on my Youtube subscriptions.
This one is awesome.

So many good points, I was interested to hear the bit about abortion and his assessment that he sees about a 50/50 split on the pro-life/pro-choice issue with self-identified libertarians.

Also nice to see a self-described Catholic libertarian as well. Also would be nice to see Reason interview a pro capital punishment libertarian.

So a good watch if you have some time before you get to eating!

Heading North

I’m heading North for Thanksgiving weekend with the family in Maine. Try as I may, I won’t be gun free, actually rather than my standard light carry gun (Holidays have lots of hugging, unless people are expecting it a shoulder holster surprises them, and such things are conversations for other days) I’m bringing a bunch of guns because Tomorrow Jay, Wally, Sci-Fi and myself will be sending rounds downrange at Wally’s club.

Also Joan Peterson’s post I’m referencing is talking about the horrors of HR822. I’ll point out I’ll be driving a little over 100 miles, and in that time I’ll be using THREE carry permits to lawfully carry. New Hampshire doesn’t require training, Massachusetts and Maine require NRA basic pistol certification as “Training”, so to get my Maine permit I just mailed my Massachusetts certification certificate with my application form.

Meanwhile I’ll be using just my Massachusetts driver’s license. I’ll also note that to get my Mass DL all I needed to do was hand them my Maine DL and hand them money.

While I took driver’s ed to get my learner’s permit, the only “Training” required to get my Maine DL was a 15 min drive through the outskirts of the city of Portland. Also the atmosphere of my driving test was pretty lax. On the parallel parking section I got off to a bad start and was getting ready to pull out and take one of my Mulligans (I forget but you’re given 2-3 attempts to properly park so long as you don’t hit the cones or the curb) but the examiner stopped me and gave me a few hints to get things going the right way. I still think I was a hair far from the curb when he opened the door, but I passed anyway.

That was 15 years ago, and if I keep at this rate (no major moving violations) I’ll never have to take another official driving test again.

Of course auto accidents are infinitely more common than concealed carry mishaps. And that goes for states that have no requirements for a carry permit (or no permit at all) to the most rigorous states out there.

Its simply a solution for a problem we don’t have…but it DOES cost a lot of people a lot of money (Just for Today NH Non-Res is $100 for 5 years, Maine is $80 for 5) and can greatly impede people’s ability to move freely about the country. You can’t travel from Gun-Friendly Maine, Vermont, or New Hampshire to gun-friendly Pennsylvania, or Virginia without crossing gun-unfriendly New York…and even tho upstaters can get the right to carry, no Non-residents of New York may carry in the state, as they don’t issue non-resident permits. Massachusetts is close behind, they issue non-resident permits for $100, and its more-or-less a shall-issue permit. Doesn’t sound to bad, right? Well its also good for ONE YEAR. That’s a sham!

The current system makes no sense and needs to be fixed!

“Gun Death” Lady Trouble

Simple Story.

Deputies say he and another man got in a fight on Clearview Drive near Hartsville about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

They say when they got there they found a man had been stabbed. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

“At this time, it appears the motive for the stabbing was an argument over a female,” Sheriff Wayne Byrd said.

No gun, no “Gun Death”, what do you think?

Early Morning Video

Found these videos from ACORN buster James O’Keef

Of course here we have a story about Unions attempting to push policy through shopped science, but you can substitute climate change or gun control and things like Climate Gate, or the fact that Joyce foundation shills only cite studies from inside the Joyce Foundation.

I’m glad James O’Keef is still plugging along, he has a bright future and a lot of success ahead of him!

Great Rant

The Gun Geek has this little review up on his Norinco M14

Ho Hum, its a cheaper version of the Springfield M1A which is a gun I’m not terribly interested in either.

Still stick around for the political rant at the end. The bottom line is when somebody actually knows about guns the lies are as clear as day. Doesn’t matter if you’re American or Canadian or Serbian truth is truth.

Glad to hear some Canadians still have some fire in their bellies. Also love that accent!

Class Action

Jack brings the Class!

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– Tennessee whiskey maker Jack Daniel’s is donating more than $100,000 to pay for plane tickets and travel funds for soldiers at Fort Campbell, Ky., to spend the December holiday season with their families all over the country.

The distiller is also asking the public to make additional contributions that could help hundreds of cash-strapped soldiers who otherwise would be stuck at the post on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. Donations can be made to the Operation Ride Home campaign online at www.jdoperationridehome.com.

I am not a Jack Daniels fan, my American Whiskey of choice is actually Wild Turkey (good enough for Hunter Thompson, good enough for me!) but man that’s a move that really puts the Gentleman in Gentleman Jack!

Well played!

Wonder What They Were Planning…

Looks like the Kill The Jews movement had an ace in their sleeve.

A number of weapons were discovered in New York’s Zuccotti Park after Occupy Wall Street protesters were evicted by the Police Department last week, law enforcement sources tell FoxNews.com…Gardeners employed by the park owners, Brookfield Properties, to clean up the mess made by occupiers during their two-month stay discovered knives and other potential instruments of violence in flower beds throughout the public space, according to officials.

Could just be trumped up fear tactics, or it could be the Anti-Semite Protesters were gearing up to have more than just rocks when the Occupy Wall Street group next Rioted.

Peaceful Protest!

WOW!

Bob has a great video up at his place, go watch it! Funny, cute, and emotional. You can tell the little girl knows this is a big deal, but she sure keeps her head on her shoulders for the whole thing.

I know lots of grown adults who turn into substandard doorstops when things get a little pear-shaped.

If she keeps that skill it’ll serve her VERY well her whole life!

How Gun Control Works

The anti-rights groups are all parroting this story:

Ending gun violence: Odom family’s story: MyFoxBOSTON.com

We have a family from the poor section of Boston. Its an older story so I don’t know any details beyond what is covered here. The family lives there so they know and don’t point their finger at “Gun Violence”, these areas are infested with gangs, they don’t have a “Gun Violence” problem they have a violence problem and there are far more kids found stabbed to death or beaten to death on these streets than shot.

But the anti-rights people want to beat their drum and blame the guns. In Boston you simply can’t get a carry permit, and will often have a hard time getting just a permit to own a handgun in your home. The handguns need to be on the approved roster, no “Assault Weapons”, any magazine holding more than 10 rounds must be made before 1994, to get your permit you must take a safety training course, be fingerprinted, and the guns must be registered with the state. Also if you want to do a private sale, that also must be registered with the state. Also your permit is at the discrestion of the police and can be taken away even if you commit no crime. (Is it a wonder why they routinly come out against due process?)

And what do we have? We have dead children. Why? Well because violent criminals are given lax sentences, and I can’t recall a murder suspect that doesn’t have a long criminal record, and most often is on parole for a previous violent crime.

They blame places with law gun laws…but not only do they have no proof that this mechanic actually happens, but also the places with lax gun laws simply don’t see this kind of crime.

In simple terms, we are doing it wrong here. Why continue the insanity and bury the dead?

Easy they WANT dead kids because “Gun Death” is the currency that they run on.
