Those who wish to ban guns seem to have zero imagination on what can be used as a weapon.
Police say a man charged with the murder of an 18-year-old woman killed her by striking her with a tire and a wheel in south Houston.
Not much description on HOW exactly he used these items to kill…but he sure did. Ban all guns, and those who want to kill will still kill. Those who don’t want to be killed will simply die.
Carry your guns people, the world is a dangerous place.

Cool commercial, but I’m really amused at how much the two of them look alike at similar ages.
My Dad and I look about the same scary similar. Of course Dad never could grow a beard, so he’s clean shaven in all of his pictures in his 30s…and wearing ugly 70s clothes.
I like blues, and while I prefer the sound of Chicago Electric Blues, my favorite blues musician is Robert Johnson. He died young, and his entire catalog will fit on a single compact disk, still his music and lyrics really connect to me. Its how blues is supposed to sound, IMHO.
Of the works of Robert Johnson, my favorite is .32-20 Blues. Gunbloggers might have noticed that Tam Quotes it when talking about some of her more unique S&W revolvers, the song is talking about a .32-20 WCF revolver, which was the “Magnum” around the turn of the 20th Century.
(BTW I just pulled out my reloading manual, and I wonder if we could make a “.32-20 Super” that uses a strengthened case with a longer neck, so it can be loaded to higher pressure, and accept 123gr 0.311″ bullet from the 7.62×39 cartridge, and make a revolver and a leaver carbine….maybe a handy falling-block rifle for it. No idea WHY I’d want such a kit, but I sure do!)
OK back to blues. I was wondering this morning why .32-20 Blues never got as much love as many of Johnson’s other works. Well Youtube to the Rescue.

Those who use the metric of “Gun Death” attempt to justify this form of death over all others because guns are “Designed to Kill”.
A man hacked six people to death with an ax in central China Wednesday, authorities said.
Of Course an Axe is made for chopping stuff like wood. Doesn’t make those people any less dead. Also, at least under my watch, none of my guns have killed either man nor beast. Doesn’t mean I’m misusing them.
Still when an anti-freedom type says guns are “Made Only to Kill”, I must ask: “What’s wrong with that?”
Wouldn’t you prefer one of these victims to have shot the attacker BEFORE he hacked all those people to death? Killing can not only be good, but VERY good. There is NO shame in the right kind of killing.
But being China, the Antis have already won there, so they had no recourse.

Jay has a post up with a photo of an old “Fitz Special” revolver. These were professional conceal carry modification to what were then large revolvers, to make them more portable. Such a gun even graced the holster of James Bond.
With the exception of the Jennings, the guns here are NOT new concepts, and as I’ve said before that .25 Colt was made in 1917, and the boys in Hartford were cranking out lots of options specifically made for carry long before.
Also ever thought why the First S&W was so gosh-darn small?
Yesterday Shelly points out she just got a Kahr PM9 (I’m a huge fan, Kahr made a 9x19mm +P gun the size of most .380 pocket guns, and made VERY reasonable to shoot despite being VERY small, and VERY light.
Self defense is a natural human right, and the sentiments we have today are little different to the sentiments of our Great and Great-Great Grandfathers.
This is a REALLY gross one.
A 14-year-old boy, severely mentally disabled, wearing only a T-shirt, lying in the backyard and not breathing.
As he was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said they made a gruesome discovery inside. Four children — ages 12 to 18 — who had never been to school, living with more than 200 animals in a home covered by feces and infested with spiders and hundreds of hissing cockroaches that measured four to five inches….The boy was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where he later was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined he died of natural causes related to bronchopneumonia, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A decrepit house filled with filthy and mistreated animals will kill you just as dead as gunshot. But only the gunshot kills. Does this case pull on your heart strings less because no guns were used?
I think its worse…but then again I believe in Freedom.

Jason again has another great Empty Mags Podcast talking about pocket carry.
If you pocket carry, or are thinking about it, go give that podcast a listen, and while you’re at it go read my post about it.
He points out that it is a slow, and difficult draw compared to the strong-side belt-carry that is the most popular. Still I don’t pocket carry because I like it, or because I like the small PITA guns that fit in my pocket, but because that’s the best way to carry for that day. Of course recently I’ve been pushing the 1911 into service a bit more than I usually do, with great results, but even my S&W1911Sc with slim grips isn’t my ideal gun. Its single-stack, shorter barrel, and a bit lighter than an all-steel gun that is a dream to shoot, and I have grips that are slimmer than I prefer, but make carry much easier and comfortable.
Jason makes two HUGE points for all to remember: #1 get a good pocket holster that conceals your trigger, and #2. Practice your draw so you can competently draw in any position you find yourself.
FYI the only time I’ve ever drawn a gun from my pocket with concern wasn’t a serious episode, but I was driving down the street and found what appeared to be a mentally ill young man in the middle of an episode, walking in the middle of a busy road yelling angry words at the passing cars. I pulled into a side street and called 911 so the cops could know that somebody might get hurt. While I was on the phone the guy started walking down the street I had selected. I drew the gun and set it on my center console. He walked by my parked truck and asked If I had a problem, I told him “no” and I doubt he saw my snubbie, and moved on. Police didn’t seem one bit concerned, and even told me the kid’s name…apparently he was a frequent flier.
That was seated with a seat belt. You need to practice.
Also I thought I’d share this post with you. If you carry a semi-auto, just because you carry a small gun, doesn’t mean you have to carry a small reload.
Carry your damn gun, and be safe out there.

Looks like Sesame Street is introducing a homeless muppet. We can argue if this is appropriate or not, and I don’t want to judge based just on the short clip. I would say that Sesame Street can do whatever it wants, being a TV show…well except its a PUBLIC TELEVISION show which takes tax payer dollars for its air time. Again, I won’t judge, but I think that we’re all paying for it, it should be held to a higher standard than say, the bullshit that was Captain Planet. Also I don’t see why Sesame Street should take a dime of public money when you look at all the merchandise they sell. I had Sesame Street merch when I was a kid, and rarely do I see a child’s toy box without toys, products, and books all under the Sesame Street brand. Frankly if they want to run their show ad free they could buy their air time outright, and if I was a network, I’d do everything I could to make sure they got a good deal on it because, while I sound like an old fart complaining about how Sesame was back in my time, I still believe in the product.
Ok but that rant wasn’t my point, my point is this partisan hack is using a PUPPET to push his agenda. Its a work of fiction, and its stylized and idealized for the sake of television and not confusing the issue. I can understand this for the sake of basic education, but when you take it further into political policy the argument starts looking like a Spherical Racehorse.
We’ve all known people who were homeless. Heck we probably know more “homeless people” than we think we know. Lots of people who by definition were people “between homes”. They didn’t have a bed to sleep in, but they crashed in their car, pitched a tent, or found a number of couches to surf. The more stereotypical people take some desperate measures to get back on their feet, get some money, and rent a room and get themselves out of the demographic.
Then there’s the smaller number, the people we see every day, year-after-year if you live in an urban setting. They are often mentally ill, addicted to drugs, or both. They may not want or LIKE being homeless (tho there are many who actually prefer it) but they like whatever lifestyle they have better than one that would be conducive to having a roof over their heads.
As for Hunger, I’m not sure of the actual numbers. I know the political groups will want to define the numbers in ways that make the funds flow the best. I will say that I would be amazed that a public assistance system that is so rife with abuse can feed all these mouths that could otherwise feed themselves, but not feed those who are truly hungry.
In the end, take a beef with a policy, take a beef with an actual event, that’s fine, and we can debate it, but don’t go taking a work of fiction and pointing at it as if its real. You won’t see me claiming we need to expand our gun rights because werewolves and vampires are real, and we need guns to kill them, you’re doing the same thing, and its shameful.
