Selective Outrage

From Occupy Boston

Special treatment for Occupy Boston protesters?: MyFoxBOSTON.com

So the protestors are able to camp out on grounds where it is otherwise illegal, and they are being supplied with public funds to power their equipment (capitalist possessions), and clean their mess…not to mention what it will cost to return the greenway to its original condition after these people have trampled and abused it.

The reporter asked the Mayor if he and his family would be allowed to camp at the Boston Public Gardens, and he was told he could not because he “Didn’t Have a Cause”. I think we can all agree that what mumbles really meant was “don’t have a cause that Tom Menino agrees with”. You see Tom Menino, is a “Progressive” which we all know means “Socialist”, he’s also the co-Chair of Mayors against illegal guns, a group that is a Joyce Foundation political group.

If I were to have an Open Carry camp-in on public lands where camping was illegal I, and all my compatriots would likely not sleep in a tent, but a jail cell, and we would have our property, and our rights confiscated.

Selective Enforcement of the law is the first sign of Tyranny, and Tom Menino is showing his Marxist stripes.

BTW THESE are the people who are protesting

Where do you stand?

“Gun Death” SCUBA Tank

I’m a Licenced SCUBA diver, haven’t made bubbles in far too long, but I’ve been there and done that. One thing that always freaked me out was the tanks.

A St. Petersburg neighborhood was rocked early this morning after a SCUBA tank exploded, killing a man as he prepared to go diving.

St. Pete Fire Rescue officials said the SCUBA tank explosion inside the home literally blew the man, who was later identified as Russell Vanhorn, out of his home, killing him.

In this story they aren’t sure what happened, but I’m guessing he dropped the tank and cracked the tank-valve turning the tank into a ballistic Missile.

Say Uncle has “Rule 5” which is “Never Catch a Dropped Gun”, because you can grab a gun by the trigger causing a discharge, meanwhile most guns are drop safe, so you can drop them all day long, even with any manual safeties flipped off all day long and the gun won’t discharge. Still drop a SCUBA Tank…you can be dead as Disco.

But hey, guns are different because guns are different! And we certainly should give “Gun Death” special weight in the stats…well just because!

Who OK’d This?

Cold Steel Knives has a video out called “Never Unarmed”. In it the company founder Lynn C. Thompson demonstrates some questionable shooting skills and techniques.

Take some time to watch this, as Cold Steel has taken this video down before.

WOW, huh? There are some seriously dangerous and stupid things done there, like point-shooting rounds into the dirt (waste of ammo, and potential for wild shots and ricochets) and blatant disregard for rule #4 in shooting through that mocked-up house.

And lots of silly stuff like his amateur commentary, talking about carrying lots of 32 round magazines (if you’re packing THAT much pistol ammo, why not just lug a carbine with you?) lots of high-speed low drag talk from a guy who is embarrassingly out of shape.

Its one thing to have a gut and not look like a Calvin Kline Model, its another thing to be out of breath from a STATIONARY string of fire, or from a couple of steps shooting on the move.

You want to survive a gunfight? Don’t carry more guns, carry less body weight! He may be able to hit a steel plate at 200 yards with a long-slide Glock, but he presents a BIG target for returning fire.

More hilarity here:

DVD set of this quality worth $120? Yeah, I’ll pass!

Roundup of Communists on Wall Street

I haven’t talked much about the Occupy Wall Street protests
Big #1: Waiving signs and chanting accomplishes NOTHING, be it hippies looking to end the War in Viet Nam, PETA attempting to get us to stop eating tasty animals, or the Tea Party.

#2. A Socialist protest against the rich organized by George Soros and his Move on.org, and the total disjointed nature of the event doesn’t seem to warrant much interest from me.

Still Others have said it better than I could so here they are:
North over at the Gun Blog Black List Slow Children Playing (great photos, and GREAT title and analogy!0

Robb over at Sharp as a Marble, and a direct reflection from Jay . Two hard working family men who did it all on their own through hard work, not taking kindly to slackers and losers demanding a peice of their blood, sweat, and tears.

Linoge points out what we all know, that these people are not the bight shining stars of the world.

Last, Karl over at Ushanka points out the danger of Communism that these idiots are calling for.

Marxism, over the last century has been tried all over the world by many different nations, most of them ended in extermination of its own people by its “Altruistic” government. It really deserves the title of “Failed Social Experiment of the 20th Century”, and those who still cling to its tenants and call themselves “Progressives” are indeed idiots, useful or otherwise.

I am a student of history and I know what I don’t want to see befall my land. That being said, these morons don’t offer much threat except to cleanliness of New York’s urine-scented streets.

BTW if we indeed had a communist system, these people would have nothing to contribute and would likely be the first to be executed.

For Massholes Who Like 1911s

BTW the other day when I was in the gun shop I spotted a Remington R1 1911 (the “Mill-Spec” model, not the “Enhanced” yet) Its Mass approved. The shop keeper even sold one to a friend who says it runs like a champ, and his only complaint is the trigger pull which is a little mushy.

Still at $600 NIB you can shoot it and understand the trigger isn’t great…or drop a little more coin to have a trigger job done.

Also as an “Entry Level” 1911, I’m sure some people will buy this gun and “Trade Up” for another model, like the S&W1911, so this piece could be be had for short money.

1911s aren’t for everyone. I personally carry one every day, and their my favorite guns to shoot. Still there’s a reason why the gun has endured so well over the last 100 years, and I’m glad to see more inexpensive offerings in this pattern of gun. Especially for those of us behind the iron curtain.

Losing More Ground

Again I’m not a Daily Kos reader, nor will I become one. Still the subject of this post got me leafing through some articles and reading the comments. In that I found this post, it seems there’s an entire series on Kos on the 2nd Amendment from the pro-rights side.

BTW just for the sake of discussion, the term “liberal” is based off of the same root word as “libertarian”, which is Liberty. In running in Libertarian circles I’ve found just as many Right-wingers who are frustrated with the Authoritarian and Daddy-state nonsense of the Republican party, as I do Left-Wingers who are frustrated with the Authoritarian and Nanny-State nonsense of the Democrat party (FYI, most of those issues are shared between these groups, and those issues are what are identical between the two major parties). If you value individual liberty, you value individual life, self defense, and freedom from Tyranny. If you’re concerned about these issues and you are NOT armed, you need to think a little more.

Now the term “Progressive” (which must ALWAYS be written in quotes, as the root word is “Progress” which it is the opposite of) is the current code word for “Followers of Karl Marx”. These people (and the horrible regimes that used the Communist Manifesto as a core building block) are the major proponents of Gun Control and suppression of individual liberty in America. You see Marxists (or “Progressives”) believe that all in the Worker Class are equal, so one should never have the right to harm or kill another, no matter the circumstance. Also they believe in a Political or Governing, or ruling class which has absolute power over the working class, so an armed populace is a direct threat to this.

You’ll also notice that all anti-gun groups are all DEEPLY swung to the “Progressive” ideology, and I suspect that Paul Helmke was released from the Brady Campaign because he was in fact a Republican.

So really Gun Rights are spread widely across the political landscape, while gun-control is finding itself further and further isolated.

“Gun Death” Another Stabbing

Not a big story, but worth a look.

A man who was stabbed in northeast Minneapolis early Sunday morning has died from his injuries, according to Minneapolis police…A 39-year-old man was arrested, but his name was not immediately available. The police report also indicates that a 16-year-old boy was injured in the stabbing, and that as many as seven people witnessed the incident.

Not a lot of information there, but still if somebody had been shot those who wish to ban guns would count it as a “Gun Death”, but with just a knife used the death counts for nothing.

No word on how the attacker and victims were related, but I can say if this is assault on an innocent victim, if the person being attacked had a gun, maybe they would be alive today.

This is the world the Antis have in store for us.

You Know You’re a Lost Cause

…When the Daily Kos bans you.

I won’t lie, before today I never read Kos. I didn’t like the format, and I had been told it was a site vastly to the left of places like the Huffington Post.

Well it seems that even a far-left place like that doesn’t have any tolerance to the lies of the antis and their methods.

Again a rule for the ages, if you’re gonna be a jerk, you aren’t going to have an easy life….

…and when life gets hard for you, good people will point and laugh because you’re an asshole!

Quote of the Day: Waldo

As many of you know my buddy Waldo works at the gun counter at the Cabellas in Maine. When reading this post where I mention the general ignorance of firearms law of the general population he responded with this:

As for people being largely ignorant of local and federal regulations regarding the purchasing of firearms, I think even you would be surprised how many people from both Maine and New Hampshire call or stop in to ask us what they’ll need to purchase a gun. I can understand the Canadian tourists who wander by and ask just out of curiosity, but I get a surprising number of locals who don’t know if there’s a waiting period, or if they need a license, or what sort of documentation is required, &c. I also get a large number of people from Mass who either don’t know Mass state regulations, or have a selective memory when they walk into the store, since I’ve had several who wished to buy an AR or have a Glock shipped to their local FFL.

I think anybody who has stood behind a gun counter has experienced all of this and more, and most people like myself who can lose an afternoon milling around the gun shop shooting the breeze when they only stopped in for a box of .22s and some cleaning solvent, have heard most of that.

Now the hilarious side of it is that most of the anti-rights advocates have no idea what their local laws are, or what the laws in other states are. I suspect even some of the highest paid shills don’t even trouble themselves much with the petty details of the subject they make their living at.

That being said, these are also the majority of the voting block. They don’t know what the laws ARE! They don’t know if you need a waiting period, or if you can buy such-and-such a gun, or even if carry is legal, or what is required to get a permit, or where one can and can’t carry.

When various foolish laws come up the pike, these people have no frame of reference, and no idea what is reasonable and unreasonable. This is why we need to engage the public. The advantage of this is GUNS ARE COOL, and GUNS ARE FUN! So we don’t need to bore people or scare them. Just engage their interests and help create people friendly to the cause.

Kel Tec Sub2000 Review

Looks like Erin got herself a Kel-Tec Sub2000, and she writes an awesome review of it, go give it a read.

BTW I was unaware that that nubbin under the buffer tube was the charging handle. Erin wasn’t pleased with the design and gives a really good mod using a mag light head.

Great review, and happy shooting!
