Quote of the Day: Daddy Bear

Delta Bravo puts a smile on my face with this one.

Just read Marko’s post about Jay’s post about Weerd’s post about Sean’s post about a man who was shot by muggers after he had given up his wallet. Weerd, Jay, and Marko all discuss whether or not it is morally right to use lethal force in order to protect property. I thought I’d ring in with my two cents.

Now a certain awesome Librarian once said:

Ever get the feeling that the blogosphere is one big echo chamber?

I must say, I read Sean’s post and wrote my post, then read Alan and Jay’s, and now Marko’s, and Daddy Bear’s. And I can’t say its an echo chamber but more of a resonator. Like the body of a guitar it takes the sound made by the string and adds volume, tone, and add character to it.

I don’t feel I was echoing off or Sean, or the other posts echoing off of me. We all have something unique to add (even when on this issue most people are pretty close in ideology) and it makes the story bigger and better.

I applaud how the blogosphere works, we take good things and make it better!

Great Interview

Governor Scott Walker gives an interview on the new Wisconsin CCW Law:

It is so rare (but becoming more common these days) to hear even a pro-gun politician get the 2nd Amendment and self defense right in a public speech. You see he did take a moment to mention the hunters in Wisconsin (hey I bet they are a significant demographic, and bolstered big support for this bill) but he quickly transitions to the right to keep and bear arms, as well as mentioning urban violence and self defense.

Well played! Scott Walker gets it!

“Gun Death” Axe Murder

Hmmm if “Gun Death” is such a big deal, why do we use the term “Axe Murder” but not “Axe Death”?

Described by residents as a drifter and a drinker, Glenn Rodgers, 44, will be arraigned on second-degree murder charges in Milford District Court on Wednesday after allegedly striking Noel St. Laurent, 91, in the head with an ax and killing him.

Its not about the tools its about the person. When a story starts out with “A Drifter and a drinker” you KNOW the story isn’t going to end well. Of course axes and hatchets can be bought as easily as a pair of shoes. Furthermore this is a story from New Hampshire where they don’t bother people too much when it comes to buying, or carrying guns. Still the tool was an axe, and the crime was murder.

There are a million people I would totally spend time in close quarters and high stress with loaded guns and feel perfectly safe. There are people who I keep my eye on no matter WHAT the circumstances. A drifter with an axe or a knife is infinitely more dangerous than a lawful citizen with a loaded gun.

A Must Have for Every Tool Box!

So Jay notes that he needs to get a punch kit to install his fancy-pants new laser. (BTW go check it out, I handled the prototype at the NRA convention and it looks like a REALLY great design for the P3AT, P-32 and the LCP that doesn’t drastically alter the profile or size of the gun)

So yeah I mentioned I’d tell him about my punch kit which I use all the time!

So that’s an 8 Piece Punch Kit from Grace USA (Bought from Midway USA as linked)

LOVE it. so far I’ve used them regularly and they have held up well, also the brass has indeed proven to be non-marring on my guns. These are ideal for popping out roll-pins, and popping or prying out tight parts.

Like do you have an AK or SKS with a tight gas tube? Grab the big punch and hold it along your finger and use it, rather than your soft finger to push the lever up.

This is a nice non-marring tool for removing the barrel from a CZ-52 without bending your magazine floorplate or marring the barrel with a screwdriver (Also they work good for popping the grip clip off said CZ) Oh and its the best tool if you’re fool enugh to take apart the pictured J-22. Detail stripping the 1911 is vastly a more easy task, and fairly simple if you have a nice punch kit.

So hope that helps you out, Jay, and maybe other people!

That Worked Out Well!

OK so after the deck got torn down I was left with a pile of lumber.

Called the town and they wouldn’t take it. They suggested either hauling it to a local transfer station, or having it professionally removed.

I called the transfer station and let’s just say they aren’t as easy going as the junkyards in Maine I’ve dealt with in the past. The pile was too big to fit all in my truck, and the station was going to charge me a healthy fee every time I entered their place, no matter how much slop I offloaded. I decided to call 1-800-Got-Junk on my lunch break. They were ready to come within the hour. I had to let them know when I’d be home from work first.

Dude’s showed up 10 mins after I’d gotten home (I was putting my trash barrel away just as they pulled in). The price was a bit higher than I had initially hoped for, but not much. I gave the OK, and in about 40 mins the wood was gone, and they swiped my credit card in the truck and were gone.

So a bit pricey, (and maybe outlandishly so if you have a cheap dump near you) but they’re fast, accommodating, and do all the work for you. So overall I’m happy with their work!

I’m also happy to have my yard clear again.

Update on Jet Blue Stun Gun

Update on this story found here:

Law enforcement officials were investigating how a stun gun that resembled a cell phone wound up aboard a JetBlue Airways plane at Newark airport.

That’s probably how it got through security, the functional illiterates in the TSA don’t have the faculties to determine a fake cellphone from a real one…they can only tell if its a cell they want to steal or not.

I still wonder why a person willing to risk serious punishment for carrying a device illegal in both in Massachusetts AND New Jersey, as well as prohibited inside the TSA secure area nation-wide.

We are trading our rights for NOTHING, and we’re paying millions of dollars for it.

COME ON PEOPLE! WAKE UP!

I Suspect

They say the TSA never explained why they patted this young boy down TWICE at the airport. I have a guess.

I suspect its the same reason why the young college girls get picked out too. The Government is giving out free passes to child molesters, perverts, thieves, and bullies.

Disband the TSA today!

Why We Win: Shooting is Fun!

I saw this in the office today.

Note that there’s a full page story with that photo above the fold in the BOSTON GLOBE!

BTW it was shooting trap with the Second Amendment Sisters that got my wife into shooting.

Check the footage of any anti-rights rally or gathering, first you need to note if anybody shows up You’ll see nothing but unhappy faces.

So even beyond the self defense and individual liberty, GUNS ARE FUN! Being anti-gun is not fun, and is an flawed ideology being shilled by unhappy people.

There’s only one way that can turn out!

Oh Update! Check out Lissa having a hellovatime doing some IDPA!
