Watching The Royal Wedding

J/K. No, but for whatever reason the long day, and comfy hotel bed, I haven’t been able to sleep tonight. I suspect this problem will be rectified with a trance-like slumber this evening.

Already had a great time at the Convention and it hasn’t even started yet. I’ll update periodically today from the convention.

And if you do find yourself watching the Royal Wedding, stop! You’re an American, we threw out the British Royals for a good reason!

On The Road

This is what picked me up

Yeah, Jay and Weer’d are riding in a Minivan with New York plates!

This won’t end well…You know Jay is gonna roll it!

BTW traffic isn’t light, the hate-rage is strong with my driver, and my knuckles are a tad white, thanks for noticing!

Almost Time

All Packed, Bacon in my belly. Waiting for Jay to show up. I’ll have my Droid2 so there should be some blogging from the road.

“Gun Death” Roman in Gaza

Italy has very strict gun control, but Israel has much more lenient laws. So when a man from Rome is murdered in Gaza, you know what to expect.

Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni was probably strangled with a cord, according to Paolo Arbarello, the doctor who performed an autopsy on the body that was found in a house near Gaza City last week.

Oh, were you expecting a “Gun Death”? Also:

Arrigoni is believed to have been murdered by one of several radical Islamic Salafite groups that operate in the Gaza Strip in opposition to the Hamas government.

I don’t know why I put that there…I don’t see how its relevant. Guns cause crime, not radical religions and cords….

Cocked and Locked

So I’m all packed, including guns ammo and holsters. Including some nice clothes that Breda demanded I wear to the Gunnie Prom.

I’m excited about seeing all the exhibits, I’m excited to get together with all the bloggers, hell I’m excited about driving down there with Jay and Dennis.

I plan on not bothering spending money at the Primanti Brothers sub shops (Pro-gun, anti-gun they’re conducting themselves like asses, so I’ll eat at other places).

So who’s going, and for those not going, what exhibits do you want me to visit? What do you want to see pictures of? What questions from the gun industry, or the legal community (like say Mr. Alan Gura) do you want me to ask?

Obama’s Birth Cetificate

CNN has a scan of it.

Anything can be faked, but I will say that looks quite legit, also I see nothing embarrassing or amiss. The only odd thing is the use of the term “African” as a race. In the 60s wasn’t the official term “Negro” or if the doctor was old fashioned “Colored”?

I apologize to our President, and to his family for any false statements made on the Weer’d World Blog. Those posts will remain, but I will add a link to this post on the two I’m aware of that speak of our President and his missing Birth Certificate.

I will ask: “What took you so long?” Seriously, I can get a notarized copy of my Birth Certificate inside the hour if demanded, inside of a week if something happened to the copy I keep in my personal files. Also I do strongly support mandates to present positive ID for offices and acts that are specific to citizens vs. Aliens. I don’t have a copy of my Birth Certificate to prove a point, I have one because I need to show the damn thing from time-to-time. I certainly think that anybody who is running for public office, and specifically for a national office that requires citizenship (natural or otherwise) should damn well have to file their Birth Certificate where the citizens who are voting can access it (redacted if necessary).

So there it is. Frankly I’m a little bit glad to see it, because while I don’t much care for our current president, I really didn’t like the idea of what might come if it turned out this President was indeed illegally holding office.

“Gun Death” Baby Shower

No death, but there are a lot of interesting points in this local story of violence.

Two people have been stabbed in a Lawrence apartment after what the police chief calls a “baby shower that went awry.”

Officers responding to a report of a stabbing late Saturday found between 50 and 100 people at the apartment. Police Chief John Romero tells the Eagle-Tribune that the stabbing was proceeded by a fight that apparently began when someone threw a bottle that struck a woman. Romero says the woman’s husband then pulled out a knife.

Romero says there was alcohol at the party. He says the two men who were arrested appeared to have been under the influence.

As a man, I haven’t been to very many baby showers. The ones I’ve seen, and the ones I’ve heard of drinking generally wasn’t part of the festivities. Also given that pregnant women shouldn’t drink, it strikes me as terribly rude to be swilling away at a party for a mother-to-be.

Also every baby shower I’ve been has been awash in fully-born babies, and young children of attending mothers. So we have bottles getting thrown around, and a knife fight breaking out at a BABY shower.

Also its not in the cited news report, but its said that the knife the attacker used had a 6″ blade. Let’s look at that:

That’s a commander-sized 1911, and a knife that has a blade that’s just under 7″…also some little rubber ducks, just because.

That’s a BIG knife, even with an inch shaved off its length. It could have been a VERY big pocket knife…or it was being carried as a weapon. I will note that Massachusetts has laws against knives this big, tho I don’t very often hear about them being enforced, also given the track record of the Massachusetts court system, I suspect this guy won’t be charged.

Still a baby shower is one of those “Joyous Events”, also they tend to be pretty tame affairs. This is not a drunken New Years or Independence Day bash, or Mardi Gras, this was a BABY SHOWER.

When violent crime erupts like this we must look at WHY. Given that this is not a nice town in Mass, one wonders what the street culture of violence might have contributed to this.

Also note that nobody was shot, but that didn’t make this crime any less serious. Until we look at why drunken knife fights break out in massive baby showers in poor neighborhoods, we’ll never make any headway in the safety of our streets…”Gun Death” or any other form of violent crime.

About My Bar Outing

So about that lunch I had in the bar. Seems like there was no blood in the streets. I didn’t feel the urge to get blotto drunk just because I was in a bar (I did get really full on Burgers and fries), and I didn’t feel the need to do anything illegal or dangerous.

Rest Assured, this simply means I “haven’t committed a crime, yet.”

Those gun control advocates, they’re right!

That’s a Solid Review

I’ve seen a bunch of this guy’s videos and he’s an AMAZING shot. That being said it looks like the Ruger SR1911 does its part. Also I really like that he tore the gun down, it looks nice and tight.

I would like to see it being fed +P hollow points, as well as 200 Grain semi-wadcutters to see if it digests the other ammo as well as the 230gr ball. Also I’ll be interested to see it after about a 2000 round count. If its still tight, accurate, and with minimal failures that would be a VERY solid endorsement for what is a well set-up 1911 for a VERY good price.

I certainly will be asking the Ruger people about this gun being Mass certified, as well as the .357 Magnum LCR. Of course I certainly wouldn’t be above testing such implements.

Some Good News!

So the wife and I got back from the epileptologist, and we got great news.

Looks like her taper schedule will be be in one-week steps and a total of six increments before she is medication free!

This of course will be derailed by seizures, but the Doctor says we should have some fairly high confidence that this might have been the last of them.

Then there will be a few more doctor’s appointments and evaluations and then this blog might start talking more about BABIES.

Just sayin’ Weerdlings…..
