Turns out it was only about 8″ of snow, but heavy dense snow. Still it cleared up faster than I expected. Still that was over 3 hours of driving a shovel. I’m sore and tired.

Still It should be a good evening. BB&Guns goes live inside a half-hour, starring Breda, Jay, and special guest Joe Huffman , all awesome and interesting people, I can personally attest.

Also I got my beverage on, check this shit out!

Drink of my own invention, its the standard Gin and Juice, but fortified (and colored) by Curacao and Lillet. A buddy named it the “Weer’d Smash!” because we had recently watched the crap-tastic Ang Lee Hulk movie.

“Outrage”

Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign cracks me up. Certainly appears she’s losing her mind now that Obama has essentially turned his back on them….and a fellow Joyce Shill to boot! Keep your eyes peeled for signs of suicide! Still she posted this comment, and I had to dig deeper.

A Minnesota House of Represenatives committee repeals sensible gun laws already on the books that have been working well to screen out those who should not have guns against vehement opposition of law enforcement— outrage

She linked to this leftist screed, but really the article told me about as much as Joan did.

So I decided to look a little deeper, and found a better article.

Citing a push to reduce Minnesota government mandates, Republicans voted Wednesday to dump a state background check for gun purchases, saying it needlessly duplicates an existing federal system…The bill would repeal a state requirement that anyone buying a handgun or semiautomatic military-style assault weapon from a federally licensed firearms dealer must first get a permit. Potential buyers now can get from police a one-year permit, without charge, after a seven-day waiting period during which background checks are made.

Minnesota is one of 12 states that require a permit to buy a handgun. Thirty-eight others, including Wisconsin and North and South Dakota, do not.

“The bill, again, simply removes an unnecessary, redundant and expensive unfunded local government mandate,” Drazkowski said.

So Joan is “Outraged” at repealing a law that is not only not used in most states, but that intentionally puts a waiting period and government permission slip on a constitutionally protected right. And better yet she calls it “sensible gun laws” despite the fact that all the surrounding states feel no need for any such law at ZERO ill effects.

In the end its the truth we all know, that they hate gun owners and gun ownership and will do ANYTHING they can to oppose it. Not like I’m telling you anything new, but “Common Sense” has ZERO to do with it.

On that note everybody needs to check out “Uncommon Gunsense”, she tried to comment on Joan’s page, but was banned, so now like Sean she will be a thorn in the Brady Campaign’s side from her own blog.

And finally I’ll end on a quote that just amuses me.

While we’re winning court cases at the local, state and federal levels, you and your ilk are busy ringing a bell.

Anti-Tool

Humans are tool-users. Honestly looking at us as naked apes we generally suck. Most things can run faster than us. Most things have sharp teeth and claws. Being hairless, we quickly succumb to exposure unless we stick to VERY warm climates like the tropics…and those tropical locals better be large islands or continents because if you think we suck at running, you should see us swim!

But meanwhile we have vastly changed our environment, use tools, clothing and innovation to expand our natural range, and lifespan. We invents more tools, and also superfluous things like art, and even science and medicine is pretty moot stuff if you’re struggling for food and warmth in the dark.

And then we invent philosophies like Marxism where pointy-headed busy-bodies look to ban tools that pulled us out of the mud in the first place.

That was until October, when the noted painter was busted on weapons possession charges for having an illegal gravity knife in his pocket as he walked home at about 3 p.m. along E. 3rd St.

A judge Wednesday tossed the charges – for which Copeland, 34, faced up to a year behind bars – after his lawyer explained to prosecutors he used it to cut canvases. Still, the artist is fuming…Kuby said Copeland has no criminal history and didn’t threaten to use it as a weapon but that cops descended on him after spotting what they thought was a knife in his front pants’ pocket.

The bust came after Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. announced a major initiative to get illegal knives off the streets, including a $1.9 million settlement with Paragon Sports, among other mega stores, for selling illegal knives.

These are the same people who make it difficult to own a gun in New York as well…not to mention it suicidal to enjoy a public park after nightfall.

Remember, these jerks don’t care about need no matter what they say!

Snowpokalypse Redux

I decided to scoot in early to work so I can bail early and spend that time shoveling out the approximately 10″ of Global warming out of my driveway. Its going to be a NIGHTMARE to find a place to put it all, and of course very classy of Mother Nature to take a big white shit on us during the morning drive time so consistently. Couldn’t dump it on the weekends where I have the time to shovel, or in the evenings so I can clear a path before bed and have smoothing sailing in the AM.

The roads were HORRIBLE this morning. I did about 40 in 4×4 on the highway with my knuckles going white on the wheel more than a few times as I felt traction waning. There were no lane markers to speak of, people just picked a general spot and stuck to it. Overall the speed-demon assholes weren’t out, but I was still amazed to see a few people pass me at was appeared to be a SCREECHING 60 mph.

I suspect the bad road maintenance is a direct result of budget reconsideration.

And remember kids, we aren’t out of the woods until the Ides of March….

So for Mother Nature, and your lovely snow, I got another tune coming out over the airwaves just for you!

My back is gonna hurt tonight from throwing snow over 8′ banks….

“Gun Death” Robbery

Here’s a messy one.

Police on Friday charged a Smithfield man with murder, burglary and armed robbery after his 74-year-old neighbor was found dead in her home the day before….Salentine, 34, is accused of killing Patricia Stevens, whose son found her body about 5 p.m. Thursday at her house at 309 N. 3rd St. Police Lt. Keith Powell said she died from “blunt-force trauma,” though he declined to elaborate, citing the ongoing investigation. Salentine was arrested at a gas station on U.S. 701 near Four Oaks after investigators linked him to suspicious activity in Stevens’s bank account.

He also faces three felony counts of uttering a forged instrument — or knowingly using a forged document such as a check.

When its a man in his prime and an older woman, it doesn’t take a gun to generate a dead body. Why do some think that only “Gun Deaths” are worth our attention? What’s wrong with them?

Whew, I’ve recently had my job expanded and I was running around like crazy all day. We’ll see what whit or interesting things pop up as the evening wears on, but right now the snow has started coming down pretty hard, and I’m tired.

Gun Porn For Breda

Breda has a lovely photo of her Uncle (kinda I don’t know familial relationships well enugh to know the formal term….is it Uncle Once Removed?) with an No. 1 Mk.III Enfield Lovely photo from a different time.

Thought I’d take a picture of my SMLE.

Its one of my safe queens, but its a pretty neat rifle. For those not in the Know that’s an Ishapore Enfield 2A, which was (and still is in service as a Police rifle) the infantry rifle for the Indian Armed forces. It has super evil features of a bayonet lug, and a detachable magazine that holds the evil “High Capacity” quantity of 12. Also one neat feature is this gun was manufactured as a 7.62x51mm Nato rifle (I’ve been told commercial .308 will do bad things to these guns).

The build quality of this gun leaves a LOT to be desired compared to the British and Aussie SMLEs of the same era, and it has the older style v-notch rear-sights which are MINISCULE and very hard to sight.

Still its a SMLE, and I must say I do love the cock-on-closing action over the more conventional cock-on-opening, which allows for a MUCH more smooth cycling, even the somewhat sloppy bolt of my 2A.

Neat gun, and it didn’t cost me much of anything, and as expensive as 7.62x51mm is these days, its still cheaper than .303 Brit.

State of the Union Speech

I listened to most of it. But my reasons were:

#1. Because my wife was late getting out of her evening class, so I had nothing better to do than read blogs and listen to the radio.
#2. Because I wanted to hear him NOT talk about gun control and picture Paul Helmke surrounded by empty boxes of white zinfindel sobbing with snot running down his nose, as he tosses a rope over an overhead beam…

When the wife got out of her class I drove her home and went to bed, and I turned the speech off as soon as she came out of the building because let’s face it, State of the Union Speeches are boring, and pointless. Hell that goes for all political speeches. Talk is cheap, and speeches aren’t actions. Doesn’t matter WHO it is, even during the GOP Primary where people who I do respect like Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson gave speeches, I tuned out, because all they’re really doing is polishing turds. Heck that’s one reason why I love Maine’s new Governor Paul LePage so much. He tells it how it is, he uses crass language and doesn’t care if he hurts somebody’s feelings. Maybe if they broadcast a LePage speech I’ll listen to that. If he puts and ashtray on the podium, lights a smoke, and talks off his head just using a 3×5 card as a reference, I’ll buy it on DVD and watch it on my home theater!

Blah Blah Blah, well writing this post, was a lot of fun too!

This isn’t taking advantage of the unfortunate. It is calling attention to yet another example of our policies gone wrong. “Gun Death” Human Smuggling

Things like Bomb attacks, or things like the 9-11 terrorist attacks, its pretty obvious the more massive body counts do NOT come from guns.

A truck driver was resentenced to nearly 34 years in prison on Monday after a federal appeals court last year overturned the multiple life sentences he received for his role in America’s deadliest human smuggling attempt, which resulted in the deaths of 19 illegal immigrants….However during the more than three-hour trip, Williams never turned on the air conditioning in the airtight truck. As temperatures in the trailer skyrocketed to as high as 173 degrees Fahrenheit, the immigrants kicked walls, clawed at insulation, broke out tail lights and screamed for help. Despite stopping the vehicle twice during the trip and realizing that the immigrants were in danger, Williams didn’t let them out.

Yep, a Glock with a 30 round magazine and it leaves 6 dead, but a hot semi-truck filled with human cargo, and 19 die in a single day.

But remember the Arizona shooting counts, the dead illegals in Texas, don’t. Only “Gun Death” is relevant to the pro-ignorance, anti-freedom advocates.
