On this day in 2001, 3,000 Plus people were killed as a result of a terrorist attack on this country. The terrorists used box cutters, airliners, buildings, and jet fuel to accomplish this horrible deed.
If you work for the Brady Campaign, or the Violence Policy center, this day is like any other, as the people were NOT killed by guns. Remember that today! Does it make you angry? It should!
There may be politics and issues to talk about today, but for right now we should all remember those who were lost, and remember that there is evil in this world.

So we all know Brady Board Member Joan Peterson blogs under Jepete in a blog that is just what you would expect from the forces of Pro-Ignorance, anti-freedom. I also just found a blog for Heidi Yewman who is also a board member and leader of other anti-freedom groups. (Poison Link Here)
Of course her latest, and 2nd newest posts are almost a year apart, she seems to have as much motivation of formally Joyce Funded Pro-Ignorance Blog “gun Guys” who were pretty vibrant at posting when the checks were clearing from the Joyce Foundation, but now they have a hard time penning a post every month.
Ms. Yewman does appear to allow comments, but I haven’t posted any because the blog is barely even a blog.
Still what I found amusing was that I found this page by accident, and it took me a little bit to find the page Author’s name (despite her openly wearing a Million Mom March garb, and being on a book tour, the page doesn’t even attempt to sell said book). And I attempted to find a few other personal blogs for Brady members, but couldn’t with any ease.
Meanwhile the NRA has a blog, and it not only allows comments, and is open about its affiliation, but there are countless personal blogs out there where people openly point out that they’re NRA members, and even have sidebar links to Join the NRA. I’m pretty open about being an NRA life member, and I talk a lot about my time at the NRA convention, and can’t wait until next year where the convention will be closer and in a more gun-friendly venue of Pittsburgh!.
Not only are there only a handful of blogs that even bother talking about gun control, but the ones that are affiliated with anti-gun groups like the Joyce Foundation, or the Brady Campaign, they do it in near secrecy!
It certainly does look like we’re winning the hearts and minds of America!
(Not to mention that groups like the NRA, GOA, JPFO, Pink Pistols, Second Amendment Sisters, and the Second Amendment Foundation all have paid members, so a current membership roster exists for all of these pro-gun groups, and if you decide to join one of them you can do it TODAY. Meanwhile there is no way to be a member of the Brady Campaign, or the Violence Policy center, unless you hold a staff position, only ways you can donate money)
So as you read the wife is feeling a lot better, and because of that, my spirits are high enugh to take back this grizzly mantle of showing what bigots the anti-rights activists are.
Also this goes out to Joan of the Million Mom March, and the Brady Campaign, and her latest post that shows just how little the advocates of “Sensible” gun control care about people being killed. First from Joan:
Alaska does actually have the 2nd highest firearms death rate per 100,000 in the country, behind Washington D.C. No wonder people think they need guns in those places to protect themselves. The gun laws are, of course, vastly different between Alaska and D.C. Washington D.C. had banned handguns in homes until the Supreme Court Heller Decision.
She later finds the statistical crutch used to create this cooked number. Alaska, being that has brutal and dark winters, has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation…and 50% of all suicides in America are done by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. So Joan overlooks the violent crime problem in Washington DC AND Ingres half of Alaska’s suicides as irrelevant to her cause. Yep there isn’t a heart in that woman, and her blood must have ice crystals in it! Also Joan and her Brady Masters don’t see the relevance in This Story
Convicted killer Cal Coburn Brown was executed early Friday by lethal injection for the rape, torture and murder of a Seattle-area woman, after delivering a statement complaining he was treated unfairly by the legal system….Brown confessed to killing the 21-year-old Washa during an interrogation in California for an alleged assault on a woman there. He later led authorities to Washa’s battered body, which was inside the trunk of a car.
Brown, who is from San Jose, Calif., had a history of violence against women, including a 1977 conviction in California for assaulting a woman with a knife at a shopping center. He also served 7 1/2 years — the minimum sentence — for assaulting another woman in Oregon in 1984.
Seems Brown didn’t much care for guns…instead he did his dirty work with knives, his hands, and his penis. I’m sure the Brady Campaign and Ms. Peterson see NO reason why this man needed to be imprisoned or executed. I mean to them his crimes are completely irrelevant.
Ok The Fruit is pretty low, but how can I not pick some of them up. This Gem is from Million Mom March President, and Brady Campaign Chair, Joan Peterson:
No name calling, sir-“ignorant tripe?” I said I had a problem with military style weapons being used for hunting. I don’t like them because they are semi-automatic assault weapons that are designed to kill as many people quickly, as would be needed in combat.They can be carried on the hip and used to spray bullets and have large capacity magazines and other combat features that aren’t used for hunting. The only reason I can see for having one is for shooting as many people as possible. That is how they tend to be used by people who have used them to kill police officers. They are the weapon of choice for the Mexican drug cartel who get most of them here in the U.S. ( yes, that is true and a fact). That’s why I have a problem with them. They have the potential to wreck much more havoc and killing than other guns. They have been and could be used by terrorists, who can, by the way, walk into American gun shows and buy them without background checks. That is my problem.

Dennis Henigan is a highly respected lawyer who has worked on gun issues for many years. He does indeed know what he is talking about. I am not mirroring him. I am not, as I said before, beholden to what the Brady Campaign staff is saying. I have my own opinions which I came to on my own. But I use Dennis and Paul Helmke, two men I greatly respect and know quite well, as models. They are doing the right thing. They are both fine men with a load of integrity and well respected in most circles. I know you don’t respect them but that doesn’t mean they are not respected by many many others. I am tired of you guys saying “I’m sorry for your loss” and then say but don’t you think blah blah blah blah as if you all know something I don’t. That is what I meant by that. So now that we have that off our chests, let’s talk about other things.
Man, its like they WANT to be discredited!!!

Brown Truck of Happy Arrived today!
That’s my Carry S&W1911Sc with what might be a fraternal twin (certainly not identical) a Colt Commander Blue gun, I got from botach tactical FYI this was one of the only distributors I could find that had a Colt Commander that was modeled with the hammer cocked. (The retention strap of my holster only fits around a cocked hammer…plus a 1911 with the hammer down is a 1911 that isn’t ready for work!) The price was right, and while the site appears to be a mall-ninja haven, and the product photo is a Commander with the hammer down, I decided to take a chance. It was a good chance, the gun arrived inside of a week and exactly how I ordered it.
Let’s talk about the gun. First up this gun will never be mistaken for a real gun, it was obviously made from two halves fused together, and the “rim” from the melted plastic was filed down. Also there are a few chips and nicks in it, possibly from bubbles in the plastic, also things like the loop hammer are “webbed” with plastic. This is all 100% non-functional issues. The grip, the Slide, the trigger and trigger guard (places where the user handles the gun, or the holster retains the gun) all feel very real.
One BIG downside of this gun is it weighs just over 10 oz! TEN, my J-Frame weighs more than this Colt Commander mock-up! That does make training with this slightly less realistic. Also a few nits to pick are that this is modeled off of a Colt Series 80 Commander, meaning it has the standard colt grips, the “Stubby” colt safety, and a smooth “Duckbill” grip safety. These features are all different from my gun so it feels a bit different in the hand. Also it has a flat Main Spring Housing, which my gun has, but some people prefer the arched kind.
Why did I buy it? Big reason is look at the picture. You may not be able to tell but my 1911 is cocked-and-locked, and loaded. That’s how it stays. More information from Tam and here. Many new shooters might not realize that if you have a safe or vault to tuck your carry gun away at the end of the day, the safest way to keep your gun is fully-loaded. Every morning I put on my holster, check my magazines, check my chamber, holster the gun. I don’t touch it again until I’m getting ready for bed (or changing into my workout clothes) when I simply unholster, and drop it in the safe and lock the door.
As Tam points out the less you fiddle with your gun, the less chance you have of something undesirable happening. No problem, but when do I practice drawing from the holster?
Short answer, I rarely do. There will only be a few days a month when my gun will be unloaded, and those are the days I practice. No good, so now I have an inert gun to fiddle with. Also it might make a useful intermediate step for teaching a new shooter the 4 rules before handing them an unloaded gun, and lastly a loaded one.
Also if I ever wanted to get into training gun retention, or other techniques where somebody has to point a gun at somebody else this will be VERY nice.
And for $40, I really should have bought this ages ago!

Thank you all so much for your support, prayers, and best wishes during my surgery and recovery. I was so touched and it was a very nice way to be welcomed back. Today is the first day I have ventured to read email or my loving husband’s blog (the double vision thing makes reading a bit of a pain!).
My recovery is going well (no seizures!) although it has been a struggle at times as you have all read. Mr. Weer’d has been awesome and has been taking great care of me. He even made me pancakes for breakfast (with some resistance as you know)! The headaches are starting to lessen in intensity and I’m up and about more. I was very excited to go up and down the stairs yesterday and not be exhausted! I don’t do much… a whole lot of sleeping and watching movies. My biggest excitement coming up is going to be washing my hair (wow!). They shaved a lot of hair on my right side, but what’s remaining is a big rat’s nest. Detangling it is going to be quite an adventure!
Each day I’m improving. I’m looking forward to enjoying life without seizures. Hopefully, I will be in good shape to return to work in October.
