DGU

Wow lot of Blogfodder today. Found This one that illustrates a LOT of DGU points:

A man armed with a knife slashed at a bouncer at a northeast Minneapolis bar before the bouncer shot and killed him early Sunday morning, police said.

Tirso Cruz Gomez, 24, of Columbia Heights was found bleeding to death from a gunshot wound when police arrived at Grumpy’s Bar, 2200 NE. 4th St., shortly before 1 a.m.

Police have spoken to the bouncer, who was detained at the scene and later released. The investigation will be passed on to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, which determines whether charges will be filed.

First up we often hear from people who use the made-up terms “Gun Death” and “Gun Crime” that “We don’t have guns around here so you don’t NEED a gun”. or “I’m not that good a shot, if the other guy has a gun, I won’t stand a chance with my own gun…”

Well deadly force comes in forms other than guns. Heck if you’re small, old, frail, or against a group of attackers, a weapon isn’t even needed for a situation to turn deadly.

Also with all the recent flaps about guns in Bars (and I even had a word about it here) people might ask “Why would you need a gun in a BAR!!??”

This is one of those reasons.

Lastly this gentleman was the bar bouncer. What’s a bouncer’s job? Well in short, security. They keep underage and troublemakers out of the bar, and remove trouble makers and drunks from the bar. Also many bouncers will arrange for cabs for patrons to get home. They are there to keep you safe. Still they aren’t cops, or private security, or other “Only Ones”, in the end they’re just like you and me, just doing a job watching over the safety of others. Don’t you want them to have the best tools for that job?

Wouldn’t you want to extend the same to people who watch over your children as well? We allow people licensed to carry to carry in restaurants and bars, but still we don’t allow them to legally carry in schools….why not?

View from the Other Side

So here’s something Amusing that popped into my head. Appears that MikeB302000 anti-rights blogger, and troll extraordinaire made a two-week trip from Italy to the Jersey Shore.

While he was gone he decided to make Jadegold (no link needed, either you know him or you don’t) his blog partner to make posts during his vacation.

You know what came to mind when he came back? He never once mentioned meeting up with any of his blog buddies!

Jade lives a long, but doable drive from where Mike claims to be staying, but they didn’t even think about meeting half-way? Better yet, “Laci the Dog” and her insane owner live even closer. Laci has been commenting on MikeB’s blog for AGES and Mike is one of the few people allowed to comment at his blog.

Meanwhile when I went to the NRA Convention, JayG and I rented a car and drove down. (I’ll note that while Jay and I live relatively close, we met online through blog traffic) I didn’t want to break the bank so I emailed Mike W. and asked if he wanted to split the cost of a Hotel room with me.

While down in NC I spent most of my time with other people who blog about guns, and met some very famous people And the NRA even gave us exclusive access to some Hollywood Guns just because they respect the blogs.

On a smaller scale, Jay organizes a blogger shoot and a few dinners every year that people come from as far away as New York and Connecticut for, and sometimes even further. While I was working the convention I was talking with Elmo Iscariot about grabbing a bite to eat while he vacationed in Maine. Sadly I really didn’t have the time, too bad. Breda Has a post up where she went shooting with another blogger. And on a larger scale there is the annual Gun Blogger rendezvous

Isn’t that sad that the other side doesn’t have this? I mean they hardly have the numbers. You could probably list the number of dedicated anti-gun blogs on one hand and have fingers to spare, and even those don’t make posts very frequently. They don’t have conventions, there’s no such thing as “anti-gun shows”, really all they have are protests and even those aren’t very impressive

Not only is being anti-rights the wrong thing to do, its a negative and anti-social lifestyle populated by people who don’t really like ANYBODY, let alone compatriots of their own cause.

They’re a troubled lot, no wonder they’re loosing ground at an alarming rate!

Oh, and I’m just sayin’

Good Thing He Didn’t use a Gun!

Buddy Bob S. apparently can read my mind. I was thinking how I hadn’t done a “Gun Death?” post in a little bit, so Bob sent me this:

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 90-year-old grandfather on Wednesday admitted battering his wife of nearly 68 years to death with a hammer.

Seated in a wheelchair, John Bunz pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter as part of a plea bargain in state Supreme Court in Buffalo. He had been initially charged with second-degree murder.

Obviously the charges were downgraded because he had the forethought not to use a gun! See? This doesn’t count for the anti-gunner’s unit of measure for “Gun Death” or “Gun Violence”!

Honestly, any lengthy stay in prison is probably going to be a life term for a man in a wheelchair in his 90s

What a gross and sad crime this is. My heart goes out to the family of the departed.

Interesting Thoughts

Just an interesting view on cultural sexuality. Not sure I agree with all of it….but I also can’t disagree with his observations…

You Know what would be Cool?

A Magpul PDRc
“>

Chambered in 9x39mm (I guess .300 Whisper would also work, but I like the idea of a heavier bullet)

And toss a suppressor on the whole thing to quiet it down.

There you would have a compact gun for a VAST number of applications. From personal defense and VIP defense, to home defense, to a farm gun or truck gun, to just a fun range gun, all the way to with proper bullet selection, I’d totally use this for close-range white tail deer hunting.

And the subsonic ammunition with the suppressor, that would be a DAMN fun range gun! And unless I’m missing something either cambering could be be accomplished by simply swapping out magazine, barrel, and maybe the action spring.

Just some gun-geekery musings

**Oh on a side note, this whole idea will never get off the ground because
#1. Magpul only made a few prototypes of this gun and they likely won’t make more because
#2. There’s really no way to make this gun NFA legal and still have any advantages.

The NFA sucks!
