Good Eyes

Way to go Scorbutus with his comment I gotta know…what’s with the tampax?

I was worried nobody would notice my box of cheap tampons in that shot. Always have a box on the armory bench!
Best Shotgun Bore Patches EVER! Cheap and disposable! Also it toughens up the battle-hardened gunnie for the REAL challenges in life…when the wife sends you to town to pick up tampons!

Be strong gunnies, and keep your room-brooms clean!!!

The Cliche is True

“You can always tell a Harvard Man….but you can’t tell him much!”

A graduation party thrown by two Harvard doctors resulted in 70 teenagers suspected of drinking alcohol being taken into custody by New Hampshire police Sunday night, but one of the parents charged in the incident said he did nothing wrong except say “yes” to hosting the bash.

Nothing wrong at all!

Jon Boyd said he and his wife had agreed to host the party only on the condition there be no alcohol or drugs and his daughter had made that clear when she sent e-mail invitations to the entire graduating class. He said he warned the party-goers at the celebration that anything found would be confiscated….Jon Boyd he said he was surprised when police showed him photos of beer containers strewn in the yard because he was chaperoning the party all night and was playing ping pong with one of the guests when the police arrived.

I’ll say right now, I didn’t drink until I was 21. This isn’t a moral platitude, I just wasn’t impressed with the underage drinkers in my school, nor did I think they made much of a sale for the activity…it wasn’t until college that I saw people actually having a good time while drinking, and then I was only a few years away from the legal age, and I found driving drunk people’s cars home from the party was a fucking HILARIOUS racket to be in.

That being said I wasn’t into drinking but I WAS into ladies. And when I had a lady friend over at the house my folks never seemed to stray too far. I wonder why? Maybe they thought me and my teenage penis might be up to no good?

Nahh, who would think that teenage boys are sex-crazed! Preposterous!

These Harvard Docs just decided that rules were for the lesser folks. Giving an even further bad name to their snooty overrated school.

Oh and to the Doctors Boyd, GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!

Talk about it

The wife found this great site: Talk ABout it.

Not a lot of information on it I didn’t already know, but I like the goal. I remember when the Mrs. first let me talk about her Epilepsy. It was like a HUGE weight was lifted from me. She’s fairly well controlled, so much that most of her co-workers had no idea she had epilepsy until she told them (tho we’re going forward with surgery for a reason, most of them had an “Oh Yeah!” moment too)

There are just so many little things that it ties into its very hard to naturally cover for it.

The Mrs. found the site through this youyube channel Some very interesting videos over there. I will note the Mrs. has Epilepsy on the right side and the memory side-effects experienced by this gentleman post-op, as well as the fact that he was awake during the surgery aren’t likely to happen to the Mrs. (The awake bit will NOT happen, there is no need with her case).

Also I was glad that not only did she allow me (its her body, her choice!) to talk about it with coworkers and friends, but also she allowed me to talk about it online.

I was very pleased because I see Epilepsy as a pretty prolific disorder that most people know little about, and are likely only aware of the most severe cases (as in uncontrolled epileptics who have grand mal seizures only). So I devoted some time in my LiveJournal to Epilepsy awareness. I’m gonna do the same here.

FYI if you want to read our story, and you’ve only been following the big-kid blog, or only known about me recently, check out My Live Journal for some entries. You can certainly scroll around that entry for all sorts of info on the time spent in the EEG monitoring unit.

Surgery is set for the end of August, and we’re having a second opinion given next week. Looking forward to seizure freedom!

And hey look, there’s a comments section below! Talk about it!

Maine Carry

Seems like everybody is talking about This Story It was emailed to me last night by Mom-in-law, and I kinda dismissed it. I mean Maine is pretty much 100% middle-of-the-road when it comes to carry permits. You need to take NRA Basic Pistol or equivalent, pass a background check, pay $60 ($80 for Non-Resident), and wait 30 days for processing. Police have no discretion to issue or not, if you don’t disqualify you get your permit.

There are many states that are better, many that are worse.

I dismissed the story was because gun permits are up here in Massachusetts which is one of the worst states to get a gun permit, so I’m just not surprised. Also besides DC v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago we also have Open carry in California And generally Lots of gun, and less crime

So I was going to dismiss it, but since everybody on the ‘net is talking about it, and I’m from Maine, I thought I’d chime in.

Essentially Permits are up EVERYWHERE….except for maybe Arizona!

If you don’t have your permit, maybe should give it a thought!

You’re Ugly, Wanna Come Home With Me?

So I was heading home from work and I heard a calling from the heavens.

I found myself Here and I happened to have a gift card in my pocket from my Mom-in-law, who used to be very anti-gun.

I decided to take the plunge. Look who came home with me!

Yep, a Romanian WASR-10, Kalashnikov rifle. I won’t lie, I’m not a huge fan of the Kalashnikov Automat. They’re an ergonomic nightmare, they’re ugly as sin, their loose fitting parts make them renown for mediocre accuracy, and frankly 7.62x39mm is one of the better intermediate rifle cartridges, and that’s damning with faint praise.

Still, its one of the most common military rifles on earth, Mikhail Kalashnikov didn’t design it to be a long-distance tack-driver, he designed the rifle to be low-cost, simple, easy to use, and reliable even with the worst conditions and poor maintenance.

There is something to be said about that. Also they’re just plain fun.

Because of all of this I said to myself that one day I’d have some money to spare and I’d just pick one up just to have it. I mean it IS a Kalashnikov, and back in 2006 they were selling for around $300.

Then Obama got elected president and threatened to ban guns like this, and the prices skyrocketed. The $200 SKS rifles suddenly were selling for $600, the AK-Clones were selling for $800 or more.

Well the Anti-gun bigots declared President Obama a Failure and the prices started going down.

They’ve settled down a lot, still an SKS is now asking $3-400! So I decided to strike while the iron was hot before AKs became stupid-expensive.

Here it is!

Finally my SHTF Gun is a Romanian SKS, which is a better rifle IMHO, but it is fed only through 10-round stripper-clips into its non-removable magazine. Six-to-one Half-a-dozen to another, I think the WASR-10 AK will be a better SHTF gun with its 30-round removable magazines.

Its totally filled with Cosmoline, so it needs to be detail stripped and take a mineral spirits bath on a nice sunny day.

Its also my first “Assault Weapon” in my collection, and I’m pleased to welcome it to the fold!

Zealotry

All you need to see

Weer’d: “What would you need to see to reverse your opinion of gun control laws?”

James Kelly: “Evidence that handguns aren’t deadly weapons with no other meaningful purpose than to kill or inflict injury? Evidence that legally-owned handguns have not been used to kill innocent people?”

So James (A Subject of the Crown in Scotland) Is against lawful ownership of firearms. He has also sated he is against Lawful Personal Defense, and justifiable homicide

He also sees it as reasonable to ban anything that can be both lawfully possessed, and used to kill innocent people. Namely EVERYTHING.

Is it a surprise James Supports the UK’s Foolish knife laws as well?

Do not trust supporters of gun control, for they will never stop until we are all slaves.

Good Riddance

Most of you have seen this video by now:

Now its Come to this

Helen Thomas, the 89-year-old correspondent who joined the White House press corps when John F. Kennedy was president, retired Monday under fire days after saying Israelis should “get the hell out of Palestine” and return to Germany, Poland and the U.S….She apologized Friday on her personal website, saying her words “do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

Because we all know that sometimes we go to say a statement of mutual respect and tolerance, and it comes out like a statement of ethic cleansing, and hate.

Happens all the time for me, how about you?

Of course Ms. Thomas’ views of hate are fairly common with the modern “Progressive”. As you remember our own President attended, was married in, and had his children baptized in an Anti-Simetic Black Supremacist Church

And of course if you weren’t 100% sold she was totally evil

Yep, Helen Thomas, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

You won’t be missed!

A neat theory on cheap tricks

Found here

So I watched a lot of Tommy Lee and then went out on a gig one day and when I finally worked it up I twirled my drumstick and a bunch of people in the audience pointed at me. So at the age of 12 or 13, whatever it was, I literally just went, “Ah ok, I get it!” And I started doing silly things, things that weren’t necessarily difficult — like if you lift your foot in the air or make a funny face, that’s not technically challenging but it would make people point. So a quote I’ve used for the last 20 or 30 years, “People hear with their eyes.” They really do.

Kinda neat. As somebody who’s a bit more on the technical side of music, I dunno how true that is for me. Still its amusing to watch. What do you think…and hear?
