Still Tusslin’ with The Chicken Curse (OK I think it’s just a nasty case of the sniffles, but Joad Cressbeckler makes me LOL) Still I found something that seems to fight back the evil spirits.

Indian Lime Pickle. Essentially from what I can gather, this stuff is whole lime chunks immersed in Oil, spices, and chillies and then allowed to age. The process melds all the flavors and makes the lime rinds soft. So it has the bright citrusy flavor of limes, meanwhile with the robust flavors and spice of chilli and Indian spices.
I spread this stuff thick on toast this morning and chowed down, chasing it with tea, and some canned mandarin oranges.
It’ll wake you up, and it cleaned out my head pretty good.
LOVE this stuff!

Pomplamoose RULES!
I’m feelin’ poorly, I suspect I have the Chicken Curse so I’m gonna tuck get in my PJs and lie low for the evening.
Urban Predators, this could be you!

Note that all of these jerks had guns, and their intended victims/amateur plastic surgeons were unarmed. Refuse to be a victim, and show what happens to violent behavior in your neighborhood!
Good Work!

In Obama’s absence, Vice President Joe Biden will participate in the customary wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington.
Are you serious? A wartime president is going to Snub Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial day, and simply hand the honors over to Joe “Fucking” Biden, so he can go Chill out with Buddy Bill Ayers in Chi-Town?
FUCK YOU President Obama! We still have troops dieing in Iraq, and Afghanistan (tho you promised that would be all done…hell if we’d given President Bush, not that I have much love for him, a few more Months he probably could have had Iraq Stabilized and free of US troops.) You get plenty of time off, and lord knows you hit the Golf Courses often enough. But guess what, unlike the rest of your odd little life, this is a REAL job, we expect you to work hard, and and do what needs to be done.
Giving veterans, and families of fallen soldiers the finger is NOT one of them!
Oh and then there’s this?
Seriously? You can hand off honoring our war dead (and not just past war dead, but people who have died under your command) to your ass hole racist Vice President, but you can honor a British Musician who hasn’t produced anything worth listening to since somebody shot his commie buddy Lennon?
Seriously? You’re an asshole!

So Tam has a nice little snarky riff on what might be one of the dumbest bills I’ve heard of. (OK I live in Massachusetts, that’s totally a lie)
The “minimum force” bill, which surfaced in the Assembly last week, seeks to amend the state penal codes’ “justification” clause that allows an officer the right to kill a thug if he feels his life or someone else’s is in imminent danger.
The bill — drafted in the wake of Sean Bell’s controversial police shooting death — would force officers to use their weapons “with the intent to stop, rather than kill” a suspect. They would be mandated to “shoot a suspect in the arm or the leg.”
Under present NYPD training, cops are taught to shoot at the center of their target and fire their weapon until the threat has been stopped.
Well first up, the current training IS to stop the threat, not to kill. The Training is correct. What these goofballs don’t understand is that real-life is NOT Hollywood, shooting to stop somebody can often be fatal, and there aren’t any two ways about it. Cops Do have the advantage of having many force tools in their duty belts. Most carry OC Spray, a Taser, and a baton of some sort, not to mention I bet many get some basic unarmed restraint training. (FYI, I see no need for a civilian to carry anything but a personal firearm for defense, as your job is NOT to uphold the law and maintain the peace. If my life is not being threatened I’m walking away….at worst I’m backing away from a non-deadly threat slowly, but if things get worse than that I’m justified to shoot. No sense engaging until it gets to that point IMHO)
Still just to show the stupidity from a Biology standpoint have a look at this visual aid:

Now where on that person would you put a bullet to avoid killing this person? Seems Hollywood is a HUGE fan of the bullet-to-the-shoulder, where the tough-guy just grits his teeth and fights-on. Have a look at the image. Shoulder, you know right near the axillary/brachial artery? If the bullet clips that artery, the recipient won’t be long for this world unless they get immediate medical attention. Shoot him in the hand? Why would you think somebody could commit suicide by dragging a razor across their wrist, but a bullet somehow won’t cause the same results?
In Lethal Weapon, Danny Glover (the Communist) babbles about shooting bad guys in the leg. Leg, look at that Femoral Artery, another quick way to die.
And of course you need to think about what the immediate result of these are. A severed major artery is a death-sentence, but will it necessarily stop the attacker? Depends on how bad the rupture is, but a smaller nick might allow the attacker to maintain blood pressure long enough to finish whatever got him shot in the first place.
And then there’s the logistics of aiming for small fast-moving targets rather than the larger slower center-of-mass. Aim for harder-to-hit targets means more missed shots, and more potential for collateral damage.
So again a law that does NOTHING that it claims to do, but WILL make life more dangerous for lawful people. Good work New York Liberals!!!

PS: Did you see this image they used? Man the old Wrist-hold support grip. Nothing screams “I know nothing about guns” than when you see somebody shooting like that!
Without fanfare, the first step to airport-style security checkpoints was opened Friday at the four entrances to the Texas Capitol.
The visitors and lobbyists must walk through metal detectors and have their purses and briefcases searched. In coming weeks, their belongings will have to go through X-ray machines yet to be installed.
State employees can walk around the checkpoint if they show valid state identification, as can Texans who carry a pistol with a concealed handgun license.
They had me nervous at the first bit, but they know how to do it in the Lone Star State.
Of course the sheep need their representation:
The express lane for gun owners is clearly marked: “CHL Holders.”
“It’s quite intimidating. We’ve never had to go through this before,” said Beth Lord, a retired personnel manager who was visiting the statehouse with her grandchildren.
“If they’re going to have security like this, why are they letting some people to come in with guns? That doesn’t make too much sense.”
“Letting some people to come in with guns…” Like Cops? It doesn’t make sense to have cops let in with their sidearms?
Oh you don’t mean that, right? Because cops have training and have undergone background checks, right? right?
Officials have justified their decision this way: Concealed handgun license holders are required to undergo training and pass a background check — steps that are expected to weed out potential nuts and terrorists.
Fuck yeah!
Go Texas!

Friends don’t let friends buy Hi Points – or Lorcins or Cobras or whatevers.
He has a point. Guns are expensive, All guns, even the cheap ones. My buddy who has the hi-point I think paid $100 for his used. That’s a super-duper low-price for a working firearm, its also an amount of money I wouldn’t throw away. Yeah I spent like $1.25 on a bag of Pork Rinds Just because I was hungry, and I knew it would kinda G33k Jay out. Plus I was South of the Mason Dixon, I needed something fried, and something made of pig, and something spicy, and that met all three challenges right out of the bag! But spending $1.25 on some pig product or $10 on a knife (BTW they’re worth twice that in quality if you ask me. Great knives!) is money you might not be too concerned about if the product goes bust. Hell when I was shopping for a Cell phone battery for my cell, I found the AT&T store rate was like $30+ But a little searching I found one for a lot less When I saw the price difference I kinda freaked out. But then I realized, what if I was wrong? What if this super-cheap battery was totally junk? If it was junk, fuck it, I’d toss it in the trash and buy the more expensive battery, and I’d have answered that “what if” question.
But now fast-forward to a $90 Hi-point, or a $150 Cobra. Or you can even go up to a $300 Filipino 1911 clone. What will you do if you’re wrong and the gun is totally junk? Even more, if this is a defensive arm, what will you do if your gun proves to be junk when your life is on the line?
As I mentioned here and others pointed out in the comments, there are SCADS of good deals for adequate and quality carry guns for relatively short money. No you won’t be able to buy a working Glock, or Sig, or even a CZ-82 for $100, but if you’re going to use the gun to defend your life, can’t you find some extra money lying around?
Do you have a cellphone? We should all have a cellphone for safety reasons, and I never leave home without mine, but why don’t you buy a pre-paid cell, and just keep it for emergencies, and wait to get home, or bum friend’s phones to make personal calls.
Do you have Cable? Dump it for a year and pocket the proceeds.
Do you eat out? Buy a damn cook book, and make some simple meals for considerably less money.
Hell I used Caleb’s quote in the beginning of the post, but I have to razz him. He has Racked up some impressive competition scores using various competition guns….but for a good while he was carrying .25 Beretta Hardly a “Junk Gun”, but all the money on guns and ammo, he couldn’t pick up something of similar size and weight in a better-performing caliber?
So if you are making the step into carrying a personal defense arm, don’t go cheap. You don’t have to break the bank, but if all you can afford are the cheapest guns and the cheapest holsters, maybe you should do some budgeting to save up a little and get something that will not only last, but serve you better.
Now comes the 2nd part. All those nifty inexpensive, but reputable guns I was talking about? I Can’t buy most of them! No used Glocks, no Police Trade-in Sigs, no Rock Island 1911s, Nothing from Kel-Tec. Hell I can’t even buy the Cobra guns I reviewed, nor a Raven, a Lorcin, or a Hi-point. This state wants to ban ALL GUNS and will take whatever it can to get closer to that goal.
I own a Jennings pistol
Yep thats it between a very nice Colt 1908 .25, and a Very nice S&W1911Sc. Both guns are probably worth 3x the value of the Jennings. Why do I have it? Big #1, because Massachusetts says I shouldn’t have something like that, and its too “Dangerous”. How do I have it? Well it happened to be in this state before the “Junk Gun” laws took effect, so its grandfathered in.
Also Its similar in size and weight to the .25, but eats CONSIDERABLY cheaper .22 ammo, and actually its kinda fun to shoot.
So here I’ll toss in a saving grace for gun rights and the gun industry. If you see a cheap gun and it amuses you, BUY IT. If you have a Dremel and some metal files and think it might be fun to figure out gunsmiths, a Cobra Patriot might be a good “Project Gun”, buy one, take it apart and see if you can un-fuck the trigger. If you screw up, and ruin the gun you just learned a lesson a lot cheaper than if you’d fucked up a Colt 1911. And maybe you can get your money back on the ruined gun!
If you just want to collect cheap guns because they’re cheap and collecting things is fun, Go ahead! There are all sorts of reasons to love cheap guns.
Just don’t trust your life with one, PLEASE!
