Thank You

Today is a day to thank those of us who have served in battle in the name of this country.

Whenever I personally thank a Veteran or service-member for what they did, I always get rebuffed like it was no big deal.

No it wasn’t, but hey, I won’t argue with you.

I’ll just thank you.

Thank you to all of our veterans, and those currently serving.

No, Thank YOU for your kind words.

  2. Thanks Weer’d. I hate to say it this but I will. In years past I have been thanked for my service and I always reply “It’s was just part of the job”. I’m not sure that I even grasped the concept. In the past few years, that has changed. In fact, it changed on November 8th, 2008. That’s when I saw our freedom threatened blatantly for the first time. Now I actually appreciate it and have a better understanding of what that “Thanks” really means.

    Thanks you again Weer’d,

    Disavowed With Honor

I always feel uncomfortable when people do that “Thank you for your service” thing.

I guess it’s because the first thing that pops into my head is “I don’t even know you, dude. You think I did it for you?”

I served because a long time ago my Scots-Irish ancestors were so thankful to have a place to get away from those damn English bastards that we swore we would always defend this place, our country, for all time.

I served for my father who served, and he served for his father, and so on. My son serves today for the same reason.

So, you’re welcome. Whoever you are.

Nope, you don’t know me, and personally I don’t know you. But I know what you’ve done, and that is most certainly worthy of thanks.

No different than anybody else who in the line of duty or out of the goodness of their heart does something that helps me…or in this case, helps us all.

So thank you and to your family for your service, this country wouldn’t be worth a hill of beans if it wasn’t for people like you.
