First up the whole “Drunk Fraternity Members packing heat” argument just shows ignorance of the law. Sorry you can’t carry a gun while drunk. Period, full-stop. Its illegal. Either you think laws work or they don’t. If you’re worried about college students illegally carrying while drunk, then they’re probably illegally carrying while on campus too.
But just listen to that loud THUD as every jaw drops on the panel when he claims that rape on college campuses is rare.
Also I don’t know about other campuses, but while in my college days I read about a number of “Date Rapes” on campus that involved some very high-risk scenarios, and VERY ambiguous circumstances, there were quite a few…as Whoopie Goldberg so “Progressively” called “Rape Rape”, as in a dude ambushing a woman outside and sexually assaulting her.
I must link to Jay’s great roundup of “Progressive” Misogyny, and note the total lack of media outrage about these horrible backwards statements. Todd Akin became a national outrage when he talked about “Legitimate Rape” and Pregnancy, and rightfully so, but these people seem to be getting a free pass. It seems that when it comes to the media Party always trumps women’s rights!

Colorado Democratic State Rep. Joe Salazar said on the floor of the House that I should, apparently, buy a rape whistle. Why? Because as a woman, I can’t be trusted to shoot a gun. I wouldn’t encourage any would-be attackers out there to test that theory with me.
As a man, I am perfectly comfortable for every law abiding woman being a deadly threat to any man who wishes to take physical advantage of her. What side are all these “Progressives” on?
Well, as I was discussing with Breda last night on the Squirrel Report, I’m thinking that this sudden push to discredit the idea that Women should be armed for their Personal Safety (not just Rape) is a result of the FACT that Women are buying more Firearms than ever before.
Now, if a Cabal of Uber-Liberal Progressive/Socialist/Marxist Politicians Goal is to Disarm the Republic, and if one of your core Voting blocks decides to leave the Reservation by becoming as Self-Reliant as possible (as Statistics show with the explosion of new Women Gun Buyers), then naturally, one has to assume that they’ll be fighting back by discrediting the idea of Women defending themselves.
And since their whole long-term goal is to make everyone Dependent on THEM, then they need to try to kill the idea that Women can pull the Trigger on a Glock as well as any man. Which explains this sudden proliferation of “Talking Points” being spewed by their MSM Cronies and local Politicians.
But that automatically goes against everything that they have been teaching about Women’s Rights since the late ’60s. And if I was a Liberal Woman, I’d be very Suspicious of just what my Role would be in the upcoming Socialist Utopia that will arrive as soon as they get rid of those “Clingers.”
Unless they decide to issue Biden TactiKool Double-Barelled to all the Female Comrades, then everything is fine!

I agree with your overall idea, but I think the majority of these anti-women anti-freedom people are more Useful Idiots being encouraged and enabled by the party.
Certainly I think there are some who are very concerned about the lasting implications of women arming themselves and taking their safety and freedom into their own hands, I always note that rank stupidity is more common than calculated malice.

Living basically in two college towns separated by a couple miles, I can tell you rape is not rare on campus.
Here’s probably the most interesting one I saw while I was still in school.
Let’s not forget about the frat that had 3 pledges gang rape a woman because they couldn’t continue to pledge unless they lost their virginity. That one is so nasty the papers aren’t even reporting about it. I had to hear from a buddy of mine who’s tied into the greek system.
There was another incident where a friend of mine was president of her sorority and one of her members was raped at a frat. She convinced the girl to report it. They blamed my friend and drove her out of office because the frat supplied liquor to the member who was under age. The school focused on the underage drinking and swept the rape under the carpet. Note the sorority didn’t supply the liquor, the frat did, and then one of the guys raped the poor girl.
Sorry, but bullshit rape doesn’t happen and bullshit alcohol is always involved for the victim.
