Old video but The Armed Citizen Just posted it in its youtube channel. I thought some of the quotes in it were really moving:
Also home during the pre-dawn break-in were several family members including the homeowner’s 12-year-old grandson. His mother, the homeowner’s granddaughter, talked to ABC7 but asked not to reveal her identity.
“He’s a little bit in shock but he’s brave. He’s cooperating with police also,” said the woman. “My thoughts are you have to protect your belongings and your family and at their age what else are they going to do?”
In the East Garfield Park neighborhood, plenty of people are now calling the homeowner a hero.
“They’re 80-something years old. Why would somebody go in their house? I’m 75 and I know what I would do,” said Audrey Williams, neighbor.
“I would so the same thing, too, to protect my life, and my mom’s life. You got to,” said Jose Perez, neighbor.
When you get old, you get frail, you can’t fight off a young attacker in their prime. Not to mention that While us dorks in our prime are reading text books in college, the thugs on the street are running from the cops and getting in fights. Hardly and even field, if you ask me.
“People want to defend their homes against people who have illegal weapons already. And they have illegal weapons regardless of a handgun ban,” said David Sigale, anti-gun ban attorney.
Bob S. has a great post up on this. The people committing the vast majority of “Gun Crimes” (Which is essentially a term made up by people looking to ban guns…as it disregards murder by knife, beatings, and rapes, as somehow more desirable than similar crimes using guns) are already criminals, and all we need is to CATCH them, and we can legally put them in jail and take away their guns.
You see there are two big elephants in the room for the Anti-Rights Bigot.
#1. People quite often use guns to protect theirs lives.
#2. Our gun laws, work GREAT, and even just a paired down GCA and The Brady Bill (Brady has already been paired down with the advent of the NICS…but the GCA needs some damn work)
#1 they avoid because they are dishonest, and don’t actually care about saving lives.
#2. They avoid because some how they think laws STOP activities. They don’t seem to understand the same laws that ban Murder and Illegal Drug use, exist in this country where people get killed all the time, and there are few places in this country where you can’t make a few phone calls and get an 8-ball of Coke.
“Anytime anybody come in your house you supposed to kill ’em. If somebody came in my house I know what I’m gonna do,” said Williams.
This is why we will win. Our side is the side of people refusing to be victims, their side is the side where there coroner takes pictures of your corpse, and your murder goes unsolved.
Be safe People!

**Update** Jay Also adds more to this subject on how violent crime is a failure of enforcement and judicial leniency than lax laws.

“Anytime anybody comes in your house, you’re supposed to kill ’em.”
Good shit.
As I like to point out, if someone breaks into my house they’re not there for milk & cookies, but if they’d like to eat lead that can be arranged.
People breaking into occupied houses for benign reasons is one of those liberal fairy tales, like the thief stealing to feed his family.
Nice story, but it NEVER happens.
At BEST the person is so intoxicated that they are unaware of where they are, which is still a dangerous thing. Generally they’re breaking into an occupied house because the occupants are what they’re seeking, and I’ll be seeking to lay down some suppressive fire.
I feel cheated! DGU and Elephant in the headline and NO FOOKIN PACHYDERM?
You just like to tease hunters, don’t you?
Just baiting you in with the google hits!
Its sporting!!! ; ]
And that is why anti-rights advocates are so very disgusting – they would rather leave the elderly, infirm, sick, disabled, and other not-physically-in-their-prime individuals to whatever fate their predators choose for them, rather than allow them to rightfully equip themselves with a basic tool that is rightfully theirs to purchase whether someone else agrees or not.
The despicable part of this is that they probably see that as a feature, rather than a bug.
