“Gun Death” works Both Ways!

Selective Statistics can Cut Both Ways

Sevier County Detectives are currently investigating a stabbing incident that occurred on Monday at approximately 1:30 p.m. in Kodak.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said that the Sevier Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to a stabbing at 1006 Alex Bales Rd.
When officers and ambulance personnel arrived at the scene they found Jesus Fernandez suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
Upon investigation and questioning of witnesses, it was determined by detectives that Fernandez had been involved in a dispute with a female co-worker and that he had pulled a knife on her before she took it away from him and stabbed him several times.

Looks like the Jerk will live, but note that this piece of defense cannot be use by us to claim “Gun Defense” and that’s OK because “Gun Defense” is just a stupid as “Gun Violence” as a metric.

Also on a more serious note, this is a GREAT example of refusing to be a victim. The woman was attacked while unarmed by an armed man. She did not submit and fought back as best she could. That was enough. Good work!

It is interesting to note that while firearms beat out sharp-and-pointy things involved in violent, intentional fatalities by a factor of about ten, when it comes to violent, intentional injuries, the number inflicted by sharp-and-pointies is almost just over double that inflicted by firearms (106,756 in 2008 versus 56,626, across all age groups). If one were to factor in self-harm injuries (75,976 instances involving a knife, 3,797 involving a firearm), the disparity becomes even more significant.

Kind of explains why once-Great-Britain is turning into such a hellhole… “Getting rid” of firearms (which, granted, was a failure to begin with) may have impacted firearm-related fatalities, but violence still happens, and has still happened, and will continue to happen. Even though firearms are the boogiemen of anti-rights nuts, the fact is that disproportionately more people’s lives are violently impacted by knives than by firearms, and yet they completely disregard them when digging into their disarmament arguments. Just goes to show that the issue was never about personal safety…
