“Gun Death” Beheading

A lot of people have sent me this story. Bob beat everybody to the punch, but even my Mom was talking about this story.

A Bulgarian man was detained Friday by Spanish police after he allegedly stabbed a woman in the neck and then beheaded her in a shopping center,.

I know very little about the Canary Islands. Actually until this story came out I didn’t even know Spain had control over them, just that they were a small chain of Islands off the West Coast of Africa near the Equator. Still given that its controlled by Spain I imagine it has extremely strict Gun AND Knife laws.

When my Mom told me about the story I responded “This is why I carry a gun”. They quickly retorted that if attacked from behind with a big sharp knife a gun wouldn’t save my life. I said “No, but when he tries to cut somebody’s head off, I’m gonna put a few rounds in HIS head.” This guy seems totally insane so I don’t know if that would deter him from such a horrible act, but certainly while it might not save a life on the spot, it WILL stop the attacker.

Linoge added this story to the pot.

Deyan Deyanov, the Bulgarian man who attacked and beheaded a British woman on Tenerife last week for no apparent reason, had walked into another supermarket a half hour before the attack and asked for a large knife, according to the Telegraph. He was caught on CCTV (above) gesturing how big the knife (sword?) should be. He then told the shopkeeper, “I’m going to kill someone.”

Wow!

So thanks all for submitting the story (sorry I can’t thank you all, but when I get a duplicate I just delete it so I don’t get confused, as I tend to run a bit of a backlog in my Mail), and carry you damn gun, people, there are nuts out there who are dangerous!

  1. Bob S. says:

The huge knife was what caught my attention.

Either he walked around the streets with a ‘huge knife’ in his hands and no one did anything about it OR he was able to conceal a huge knife.

Either way, I don’t want to get into a knife fight with someone.
I don’t want to try to stop someone with a knife from cutting or beheading someone without a weapon with stand off range.

    This guy seems totally insane

When someone is about to kill you, does it matter his mental state?

I think that mental status is like classifying tornado damage; it is done only after the fact. During the storm, it doesn’t matter if it is straight line winds, micro down bursts or an EF freaking 1 through 5 tornado; your world is being rocked and torn apart just the same.

  2. Jake says:

This story reminds me a lot of this very similar killing, which happened on campus just down the street from where I work (literally – it’s 3 blocks, or about 0.2 miles).

From all accounts, some of the first few wounds were quickly and irreversibly fatal, so shooting him would probably not have saved her life. Still, I hope that in a similar situation I would intervene – even if not armed, I could at least have grabbed a chair or stool and beat him with it. But, as usual these days, and as the police and nanny-statists like to encourage, nobody that witnessed it did anything more than run away and call 911.
