There has been a lot of pretty bold statements made in support to the McCarthy Magazine Ban. Mostly they are saying greater than 10 round capacity magazines are weapons of mass destruction, tools of mass murder, and only used by the deranged. (Bonus points if the cultist talks about 30+ round magazines, and avoids the fact that the law would also ban 11+ round magazines.)
I’d link an exact quote from Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign, but we’re in the middle of a boycott. Still the best rebuttal is “If 11+ round magazines are only good for mass murder and destruction, why do we exempt police from this law?” I mean it makes sense, we don’t issue police flame throwers because those ARE weapons of mass destruction that are difficult to use defensively and to avoid collateral damage. If its true (hint its supported by the anti-freedom cult) then wouldn’t it mean police are out to murder and destroy if they have modern pistols and rifles?
The response by Joan on several occasions has been to the effect: “Police need these weapons to fight against gangs who are armed with military assault weapons…”
Or something like that. So my question would be, if there are heavily armed paramilitary gangs roving the streets of every town in America that feels the need to issue a double-stack pistol and/or a carbine to their beat officers…are these deadly gangs ONLY attacking Police Officers? My home town issues Glock 22 pistols, and I’d be surprised if there wasn’t an AR-15 in the trunk of most patrol cars with 20 or 30 round magazines. If the police who are walking around me at all times in danger of such massive terrorist attacks, then shouldn’t I also be armed up for my own protection?
Remember, if you carry a gun, have a high-capacity long-gun for a home invasion or the breakdown of law and order, you’re paranoid, or maybe a psychopath…but the Police need exemptions from just about every gun law and civil rights law so they can be armed to the teeth to fight the marauding street gangs, as well as search people minding their own buisness for permits and weapons because they could snap at any moment…or be undercover agents of the marauding street gangs.
And note this is happening in sleepy middle-American town America….you know the one, that has one full-time beat officer, but you can tell because that’s a Glock in his holster…
Following her logic, that 10+ round magazines are in fact weapons of mass destruction. Doesn’t this means that there where WMDs in Iraq and the invasion was completely justified on WMD grounds?

Per her twisted thinking…the police have had to respond to the massively increased firepower of the criminals post AWB (I know that the crime rates show the opposite of this). Again per her “logic”, that’s why the police need their paramilitary weapons and magazines. We, the people must disarm down to 2-shot derringers at most so that the police (and Joan) can relax.
She really thinks that daddy government with its always benign police force and army are the only ones who should have weapons. She cannot believe that any government, especially her beloved socialist utopia in the making U.S. could ever turn those same guns on the population. Of course, it’s never happened anywhere…(sarcasm).
When challenged on history like Nazi Germany, all the communist governments, and other genocidal places, she has failed to answer the concern or has said that we’re just paranoid.
BTW, I have decided to remove my link to her site and I have turned the boycott into total blockade for me. I will never go to her site again. She can not be swayed towards being reasonable because she ignores truth. Basically, she has no “common sense” at all.

Well I seem to remember a certain anti-gunner who took great exception to the fact that I kept a AR15 with 30 round mags and evil “TAP” ammunition as my home defense gun. This obviously meant I was crazy and paranoid, yet the identical AR-15 with the same Magpul mags and TAP ammo was perfectly suitable for the police.
Cops don’t have assault weapons, they have ‘patrol rifles’.

Loughner used evil high-cap mags of death and destruction; he killed 6 and wounded 14.
Obviously, this means that high-cap mags save lives!
And most people don’t note, but besides the 2 factory Glock magazines, ALL the mags he had were bought on Ebay which only sold ban-compliant magazines at the time.
So Cho was Rocking a G19 with 10-round magazines, and a Walther P22 that only accepts 10 round magazines when he shot up Virgina Tech.
