Context

When Les sent me this story, I thought it was going to go a totally different direction.

Police say a 5-year-old boy in Ohio brought an unloaded handgun to the day care he attends after finding it in the grass at his apartment complex.

Police say the child thought it was a cigarette lighter and was showing it to friends at My First Days Day Care in Toledo when administrators saw the weapon.

We get a few stories about kids bringing guns to school. Generally if its an older kid it pairs with the drugs he’s selling in school, or to compliment his gang colors. Younger kids sometimes grab a relative’s gun that isn’t properly secured and respected, and have it for “Show-and-tell” or to scare the bully the administrators will do nothing about.

But found in the grass at the apartment complex? Yeah I don’t think that’s the type of place you want to live in. Something tells me the gun was dropped so it wouldn’t be found in a police search.

If the gun isn’t evidence in an ongoing investigation, Mom should get to keep it, she’ll need it until she can move…

Be safe out there!
