Our Founding Fathers had an issue against standing armies for this EXACT reason.

I got a 15 out of 21 using a few basic rules:
1. If they have on anything black, they’re a cop.
2. If they have have a beard, they’re a soldier.
3. If they have hair longer than a thumb, they’re a soldier.
Also, look at the muzzles of the rifles. Most military rifles will have a front sight, the tacticool po-po will have a pop-up front sight more often if they have optics of any kind. Badges and patches weren’t blurred enough- one of them still showed a metal star pinned to the guys shirt.
I had to resort to looking at patches and hats and things. 14 out of 21. That was a tough one.
18 out of 21.
It also helps to be able to recognize camo patterns. ACUPAT and MARPAT? Soldier. Woodlands, chocolate chip, and tacblack? Cop.
I got 19/21 by looking at mix/match equipment and age>30 to identify cops. I don’t care what type of camo you’ve got: If you look to be about 40 and weigh about 250, you’re probably not military. That is, you’re not military that has to wear armor and carry a rifle.
If there weren’t any dead giveaways, I looked for signs of lack of attention to detail in uniforms to identify the cops. Nothing against them, but they typically don’t have as strict a standard to comply with when it comes to uniforms/equipment. Conversely, the soldiers don’t have such strict personal grooming standards and can get away with chewing/smoking on the job.
There were a few very tricky ones, but that’s by design.
Which one was you? 8)
16/21.
And did anyone else notice this one? That’s supposed to be a cop, but is that a friggen’ rocket launcher in the forground?
Now that’s yu bun duh scary.
Yeah the M60 got me on that. WTF?
I just assumed it was a military unit using older gear because they weren’t frontline….but I guess its a Ninja Op that’s buying surplus stuff cheap.
Don’t know my rocket launchers well, so I can’t speak about that.
I’m thinking that that one was some foreign country’s police. And yeah, the M60 got me, too. Otherwise, 19/21
Were they showing police from other countries? I would think that would defeat the purpose of the quiz.
They were definitely showing Army from other countries. I believe at least one of the pics was Israeli.
One was a unit from New Zealand of all places.
18/21. And yeah, I’m with Jake. I got #12 wrong because of what looks like a friggin’ AT4. Scary, indeed!
Oh, and a friggin’ M60, for Chrissakes.
What else are they going to use on the family dog during a botched raid?
16/21 … I am with Jake and Kay, that one threw me for a loop.
I think this is a good tool to convince people of the militarization of police.
18/21
I am a little insulted that the choices were only cop and soldier. It should have been cop, soldier, and MARINE.
LOL!
How many stickers are on the back of your car?
Only a couple

19/21
Cops had a tiny helicopter, soldiers had more gear and well-used looking equipment. A couple were wild guesses.
Militarization of our police (and policification of our military) is bad, no doubt. But this didn’t seem so hard (20/21) just remember that the police get proceeds from the WoSD so unless it’s large capital (like bigger or faster helicopters) expense the police have the neat toys and the military guys have to get their accessories by personal credit card on gunbroker.com. One exception was the APC looking thing, no military I know of puts pokey prods out the front of their vehicles. And on one slide the helmet had the military issue black plastic clip on the front.
onyl 13 right. i too was looking at equipment, and every single one of my errors was selecting soldier.
15. Most of my errors were selected Cop.
15/21…
Why do I get the sinking feeling that I should start prepping Bug Out Bags, stocking my 9mm and .45 ammo (ball, so as to have the best penetration) and start writing to newspapers calling for the dissolution of the Union.
Grand experiment, that Constitutional Republic thing. Too bad that the Founders didn’t plan on there being more corrupt power-seeking men than there are upstanding, noble, and honest ones. The fatal flaw of the Founders was not including an Article that expressly limits Judges, Congressmen, Senators, President and his Cabinet to being ONLY those citizens who are not admitted to the Bar. Fucking lawyers have ruined the country.
18/21. It wasn’t all that tough to see the distinction.
Next quiz I see like this, I want it to be cop/soldier/Wally.
18/21
The m60/rocket launcher one got me too.
20/21
7 years military and 8 years police helped, and I only missed the one because it was so obvious I thought it was a trick.
Which picture was you? ๐
There ain’t no way the M60 gunner with the rocket launcher (AT4?) in the forground and the big mounted weapon behind/left (Mk 19?) was a US cop.
If we are using foreign cops, the point of this becomes greatly watered down doesn’t it?
