A VERY Balenced Article on Zimmerman

You need to read the whole thing:

I almost joined the frenzy. Yesterday I was going to write that Zimmerman pursued Martin against police instructions and illustrated the perils of racial profiling. But I hadn’t followed the case in detail. So I sat down and watched the closing arguments: nearly seven hours of video in which the prosecution and defense went point by point through the evidence as it had been hashed out at the trial. Based on what I learned from the videos, I did some further reading.

It turned out I had been wrong about many things. The initial portrait of Zimmerman as a racist wasn’t just exaggerated. It was completely unsubstantiated.

He attacks all sides equally, and in my opinion fairly. Its VERY well written. I also think everybody who carries a defensive weapon of any kind should listen to his criticisms of Zimmerman, as they are things we should all consider as well.

One issue. Zimmerman DID NOT “Pull his Gun” until AFTER he was on the ground getting his Skull bashed in.

But having said that, Zimmerman REALLY NEEDS to go to a GOOD Firearms School and get the Four Rules and the Four Conditions burned into his Soul! He’s LUCKY that the Florida Laws were written the way they are.

Oh, as a side note, do a Wiki on the Street Drug Formula called “Lean”. It’ll explain WHY Martin was acting Paranoid with his Skittles.

    • LMB says:

IIRC, Weerd already discussed lean last year, when he talked about what they’d found in Martin’s system.

And yeah, Zimmerman’s really lucky the law there is the way it is. Around here, if I would have done the same thing, I have no doubt that at the minimum, I’d lose my permit. It’s quite likely I’d lose a whole lot more.

      (Here being California, )

Of course, Zimmerman would have been in far less “danger” if Obama hadn’t stuck his nose in it. He (and his administration) are so concerned over injustice, and yet, Chicago still practically burns.

      Go figure.

  2. McThag says:

Sure does a great job of asserting Trayvon’s innocence while glossing over how Zimmerman’s nose got broken.

While everyone focuses on George not getting back into his truck; why aren’t we looking at how Trayvon didn’t run straight home and to safety? Look at the times and distances, he could easily have made it back to his dad’s girlfriend’s place.

I don’t find that article balanced at all.

    • Jake says:

From what I understand, the girl he was on the phone with testified that he told her he did make it back to his dad’s girlfriend’s place, he just didn’t go in for some reason. There was certainly time, based on locations and how long Zimmerman was on the phone with the dispatcher when he lost sight of Martin.

      • Weerd Beard says:

Nothing Rachel Jeantel said can be trusted. She was proven to be a liar on the stand, also her story has changed considerably from time to time.

I do agree that Martin’s physical condition and location, and the amount of surprise in Zimmerman’s voice when he notes “He just ran off!”, and the amount of foot and wind noise when Zimmerman got out of his car, if Martin had wanted “Just to get home”, he would have easily.
