CSGV: Ignorace and Racism

CSGV has a impressively ignorant and misleading press release.

Washington, D.C.—There can be no doubt after the Not Guilty verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman that murder has now been legalized in half of the 50 states.

The traditional presumption in the law—from the advent of the Hebrew Bible through the creation of Roman law, English common law, and American law—has been that if you could spare human life, it was incumbent upon you to do so. With the “Stand Your Ground” law, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and its partners in the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) have turned 3,000 years of jurisprudence on its head. Now you can provoke a fight, and if losing that fight, kill the person you attacked.

Wow, its a shame that CSGV’s goons weren’t on the prosecution team, given that they can PROVE facts that the state of Florida was unable to do! Also if “Murder is Legalized”, why was there even a trial? Also I love how all the anti-freedom goons are talking about “Stand Your Ground” when that law has NOTHING to do with this case. Hint, there is no “Duty to Retreat” when your head is being bashed into the pavement.

Turning the other cheek is supposed to be a sacred virtue. But by removing the duty to retreat from a confrontation in public when one can safely do so, the “Stand Your Ground” law allowed George Zimmerman to stalk and kill an unarmed teenager and walk away a free man. That’s a tragedy, because there can be no doubt that Zimmerman could have avoided a confrontation with Trayvon Martin on the evening of February 26, 2012.

But what about Martin? Its hard to “stalk” somebody you’ve lost sight of…and why didn’t Martin just run home? Hey, but the man with the gun is ALWAYS guilty, right?

The NRA’s law represents a dangerous and unprecedented escalation in the use of force in the public space, allowing individuals to kill when they merely fear “great bodily harm” (i.e., a fistfight, shoving match, etc.). The concept of responding with proportional force has been obliterated. In this case, the “harm” done to Zimmerman, by whatever source, was so minor that EMTs didn’t even offer him treatment minutes after the shooting.

“Proportional force” is laws for crappy nations who don’t have self-defense laws. If you like that so much, go there! Also CSGV didn’t read the arrest report where Sanford Fire did indeed render first aid to Mr. Zimmerman.

Americans should also question why Zimmerman was allowed to carry a loaded gun in public in the first place. He has been previously arrested for assaulting a police officer and placed under a restraining order for a domestic battery involving a former fiancee. Again, Zimmerman had the NRA to thank. Their “Shall Issue” law in Florida awards concealed carry permits to individuals with minimal screening/training and removes any discretion law enforcement might have in approving applicants.

All events in question had been cleared from Mr. Zimmerman’s record. I guess “Guilty until proven innocent” is how CSGV likes to roll. So much for them respecting law and the constitution.

The message to would-be killers is now clear. You need not fear carrying your gun in public, or using it. If you do, just make sure you are the only one remaining to testify about the nature of the confrontation in question.

Uh, huh. Hence why Zimmerman was embroiled in a massive court case, and only felt the need to fire one shot.

As much as the gruesome mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, the acquittal of George Zimmerman is confirmation that the American promise of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” will continue to be squandered until the NRA’s pernicious stranglehold on our legislatures is broken. Lawmakers in states with “Stand Your Ground” laws should immediately repeal these cancerous blights on American values, law and tradition.

So says the people with zero respect for the US Constitution or the right of law. George Zimmerman has been acquitted, but CSGV both considers him guilty AND cites “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.

All irony lost on these bunch of anti-freedom goons!

Apropos of nothing, but those people look like they’ve actually been hitting the Purple Drank themselves….

It consistently amazes me that people are so unaware of how fragile humans are and think that unarmed is magically equivalent to harmless.

  3. Thirdpower says:

Well in all honesty I think my dog could have presented a better prosecution but that being said we all know that the CSGV hates anything directly, indirectly, or in any way associated w/ guns, sending them into a mouth foaming rage. They will continue to lie and misrepresent the facts in order to push their agenda.

Stay in the car. Run the perp over with it.

The Martin/Zimmerman incident can be summed up this way.
George Zimmerman saw “a real suspicious guy.” Zimmerman called the police and continued to observe the guy and followed him so Zimmerman could point the guy out to the police.

Trayvon Martin saw a “creepy ass cracker” following him. Martin ran away got to the house he was staying at, and turned back to go toward Zimmerman. When Martin and Zimmerman intersected, Martin punched Zimmerman in the face. When Zimmerman went down, Martin pressed his attack getting on top of Zimmerman punching Zimmerman and beating Zimmerman’s head into the sidewalk. During this beating, Zimmerman drew his pistol and fired one round at Martin.

Martin had a phone. He never felt threatened enough to call the police.
Martin ran away, and (according to Rachel Jenteal’s testimony) made it to the house where he was staying. He fought Zimmerman nearly 80 yds. away from that house.

      No..no..no…NO.

Zimmerman was driving around looking for black people to shoot. He planned the whole thing, including the police call, to throw suspicion off. He was supported by the white supremacists because he’s a mixed race right wing gun nut bigoted Democrat that mentored black children as a cover. The NRA needed a national story to present “self defense.” So, Zimmerman realized that the could stalk and kill an innocent little 12…15….17 year old….child, um 6’+ football player. He planned to stalk and shoot Martin…but allowed Martin to “defend himself” by letting Martin pound his head into the ground…thus Zimmerman’s wounds…if you could call them wounds….. were self inflicted. He did this while stalking Martin with a gun in his hand and just shooting Martin at a distance. Then he let Martin run up and hit him. It’s all the NRA’s and white supremacists that pressured the prosecution to throw the trail….that and Zimmerman’s connections.

I have seen these exact scenarios being described. I exaggerated only a little by combining all of them.

      Sad.

    Um….where are the minorities?

    OBVIOUSLY racist group.

“The traditional presumption in the law—from the advent of the Hebrew Bible through the creation of Roman law, English common law, and American law—has been that if you could spare human life, it was incumbent upon you to do so. ”

    Really?
I seem to remember capital punishment in the Hebrew Bible (the Torah) for a lot of what we would consider lesser offenses than attempted murder. Also, the right of self-defense and the protection of innocent life (including your own) is clear with the lack of blood guilt if you kill an intruder entering your home at night (paraphrased).

    The Roman Law?
Apparently they have been ingesting something. The Roman law was brutal and barbaric to non-citizens and any criminal activity was dealt with severely…ever hear of crucifixion people? Preservation of life just was not in their vocabulary. They need a history lesson.

I know less about English common law, but self-defense, to include taking the life of an aggressor was there, along with dueling…yikes!

American law does value life, but innocent life more than criminal mischief. It is lawful to kill a rapist or potential murderer to prevent their act. There is no requirement to spare the life of a criminal and accept their criminal activity just to save their life. The fact that we have capital punishment shows that CSGV is lying. Our justice system is more than willing to kill criminals, so there is no commandment that we do so.

Finally, stop quoting Scripture CSGV! I bet not even half of them have ever entered a church. Any research on the topic shows that turning the cheek is for the slight insults and such. Self-defense, national defense, and protection of innocent life was obvious. Jesus never rebuked the soldiers for their profession. Jesus told his disciples to buy swords for their defense against robbers. Jesus did not say the Hebrew justice system was incorrect for capital punishment. Clearly, the role of weapons in maintaining the peace was necessary and criminals could expect little leniency. CSGV, you fail!

Yeah there’s nothing more patronizing is a “Progressive” quoting scripture they have ZERO respect for.

That also goes for taking GOP leaders who they hate with all their being, and taking quotes out of context, or misguided legislation and somehow claiming that proves their point.

The Bible is a horrible, outdated, and bigoted book in their eyes…but they attempt to quote it to further their agenda.

Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush were demon spawn from hell…but the fact that they banned open carry, and sought a ban on “Assault Weapons” means we should heed their wishes???
