This one is REALLY rich. Thanks Joan Peterson for showing this one off.

What’s nice is just about all of us are experienced in all of these.
Buying a beer. Yep you need to show ID….if you’re buying from a store or bar. Still I’ve bought and been gifted beer from people with no ID needed! LIE!
Buying a car? I’ve bought cars both new and used, as well as sold them. Never needed to show ID for any of them. LIE!
Sudafed? Yeah, that’s right. A lot of good it does anybody. Remember that news story about Meth no longer being a problem? Me neither!
Gun dealer is right too.
Private seller? No ID? Sorry, but if you sell a gun to a non-resident of your state you get to go to federal prison. Sorry EVERYBODY checks ID, because Jail sucks. LIE!
Thanks for playing!
That’s ridiculous, we shouldn’t need ID to buy any of those.
“EVERYBODY checks ID, because Jail sucks”
Um, no. My experience is while some do, many tend not to.
Its a stupid move not to, given that while determining if somebody is a prohibited person is difficult to determine, selling a firearm across state lines is just as serious, and easy to rule out.
Oh, I definitely agree. Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people on our side, too.
IF I were to sell a gun (not looking to; I’m gonna hang on to them for now), I’d ask for ID. It’d better be from my state, current, and free from obvious alterations (damage is sometimes OK, and Yes, I’ve been trained to see the difference). I’d then Google-search the name; my county posts arrest records and convictions on the good-ol’ Net.
No “bad” hits? Good to go!
Been arrested? Sorry, try again later (I know, “arrest” does not equal “convicted”, but until I sell it, it’s MY damn gun, and I’ll set the conditions of sale, dammit!). Don’t mean to be rude about it, but them’s the facts of the world we’re living in. Don’t like it? Join the fight to change it!
Well, let’s see….
I don’t usually get carded for beer anymore, so no, that’s not required even at a “licensed seller” (grocery store, etc.). It’s definitely not required for private sales.
A car? You don’t have to show an ID, or even actually have a license to buy a car, and you don’t need a license to drive it if you stay on private property (think “farm vehicle”).
Sudafed and the two rows about guns are correct.
As a bonus, it’s worth noting that it’s not a federal felony to buy any of the other items in the chart for someone else, but it is for a gun, even if that person can legally own one!
Sudafed can be created out of easily purchased meth.
No ID required.
lol
Keep in mind that none of those things are required if you buy the items from a private seller… I can buy beer, sudafed and cars from my neighbor with a handshake.
I don’t even require a handshake! Hell the “Thanks Man!” is purely optional…but polite! 🙂
