More “Blood in the Streets” from the Antis

You gotta love the antis, and their Chicken little syndrome!

Oregon has one of the most accessible state Capitol buildings in the nation. No metal detectors to pass through. No barricades. And no law that prevents someone with a concealed handgun permit from openly carrying a loaded rifle or pistol into the building.

That openness is about to be put to a test.

On Friday, hundreds of gun rights supporters plan to rally outside the Capitol, many of them carrying guns. Although an organizer says there are no plans to march inside the building, Capitol officials are bracing for the possibility of armed visitors roaming its halls, meeting rooms and offices.

Note “One of the most accessible”, Texas and New Hampshire also have similar capitols, also I believe Pennsylvania if you flash your carry permit they let you bypass the security checkpoint.

This is not a new “Test”, and the end result is always the same.

Of course they pull out this crap:

In 2007, an armed man walked into the Colorado capitol building in Denver and was shot and killed by security officers after he made threatening comments outside the governor’s office. In 2010 a man walked onto the Texas capitol steps and started firing a handgun randomly. He was subdued and there were no injuries.

Again the status of the capital has NOTHING to do with this. If you are carrying a gun there are certain ways to conduct yourself which is lawful and fine, and certain ways to conduct yourself that will get you shot…by police or by the other lawful people who are armed.

But remember, its the pro-gun side that is sewing a culture of fear!

I open carried in the Oregon capital building today. I did it because I can….

  2. PA does not let you carry in the Capital Building. The law says you can’t carry in a Courthouse, and since the PA Supreme Court is in that building, you can’t carry there. It’s Texas that allows you to bypass security by flashing your CHP.

I was at the NC General Assembly building and they have no security on the doors. They seem to have four entrances, all glass, with nothing that even looks like security. No one but police is “allowed” to carry inside, so that means the NCGA is one of those “Gun Free Zones” that attracts killers. But hey, they wrote the law. Let them live with the consequences.

I visited the rally at the Oregon capital on my lunch break. Nice bunch of people. A LOT of openly-carried firearms (mostly ARs and pistols, a few shotguns and AK-patterns). Zero incidents.

I was not carrying myself; sadly, I work in a mandated “Gun-Free Zone”. 🙁

Still, not a bad turnout for a weekday.

Texas has metal detectors that everyone has to go through; however if you have your CHL, you flash that and walk on through. Everyone else is not allowed weapons 🙂

Many lobbyists went for the CHL because it allows faster entry to the building.

    Oregon has nothing on Washington.

In Washington you don’t even need a CPL to carry into the capitol building (unless you are carrying concealed of course). Open carry into pubic buildings is perfectly legal, no license or even I.D. of any kind is required. Washington law clearly list the (very few) SPECIFIC places that are off limits to carried arms, and the Capitol building is NOT on that list. (See also the recent Oak Harbor Council meetings).

A couple years back some anti-gunners tried to get a bunch of open carriers arrested (or at least thrown out) at the capitol building during a rally. The state police (who provide security at the capitol) told the Anti-gunners that there was no law against carrying in the building let alone on the grounds, and if they didn’t like they were politely invited to pound sand.

We can carry here in Richmond too.
