Some More Baby Pictures

Why not, right?

Post Bathtime

This was after her first bath at home. That one didn’t go well, and you can see by the dejected look on her face. This more recent bath went MUCH better and she was happy until we were dressing her and she got a little cold.

Wide Eyes

Be interested to see if these eyes stay blue. By genetics we have a 50/50 shot!

And last, little LaWeer’da in her natural state

Zero Tolerance With Teachers

You know except when it might make sense:

A bipartisan bill that would stop convicted sex offenders from working in schools has been passed by the House but is running into a foe as it heads to the Senate: major teachers’ unions like the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.

Kyle Olson, with the Education Action Group Foundation told Megyn Kelly Wednesday night on “The Kelly File” that the unions’ objection to the bill proves “unions are out to protect the adults…they are not out for the interests of the children.”

“We should have zero tolerance for issues like this,” Olson said. “We have zero tolerance policies for weapons, a kid who bites a Pop Tart into a gun or has a Hello Kitty bubble-maker will be suspended or expelled if they have those sorts of things…”

I despise teacher’s Unions because I have witnessed first hand how they put the children under their charges last, and how they prop up the poorest performers in the face of the true heroes of the education world.

In school I had some great teachers, I had some horribly lackluster teachers, and I was “taught” by a teacher who routinely showed up drunk to class. That teacher has since retired without ever making a real attempt to sober up.

Further in the science field I’ve worked with several people who attempted to teach science in public schools, and instead chose to work in private industry because of the unions and administration. Also all of these teachers, who were not all teaching in New England, all had stories of a habitually drunk teacher gaming the system supplied by the unions to maintain a job in a drunken state that ONLY a union employer would foster.

Now as a converse I will note that not all sex offenders are violent rapists or pedophiles. There are countless cases of people being placed on the registry for being caught urinating on the side of the road, or of 18 year old High School seniors dating 16 year old High School Juniors, and other abuses of the system.

This is call for reforming the registry, not making light of it.

“Gun Death” Drug Addled

This is an interesting one:

A Mineral Wells woman who had taken methamphetamine and other drugs likely crawled into the chest freezer in her garage where she died, according to a medical examiner’s report released Thursday by police.

Shannon Herrin Huddleston, 38, apparently grabbed a coat before getting into the freezer on the morning of Aug. 8, authorities said.

Hours later, her 19-year-old son found her body, face up, when he opened the freezer to get some food, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram in August.

Of course the take-away thing to note is that those that talk of “Gun Death” seem to claim that a few more laws will stop the bad things that happen. Are they proposing making guns as illegal as street drugs?

The Anti-Gun Witch-Hunt is On!

In the UK!

A 3D printer and suspected “homemade” gun components seized during police raids in Manchester are being examined.

Officers initially thought they could be a “plastic magazine and trigger” which would make a “viable” gun.

But a man who was arrested in connection with the raid said the parts were sections of the 3D printer.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has now said it “cannot categorically say” whether the objects are the component parts for a gun.

The arrested man, who has since been bailed, said: “It’s nothing to do with a gun whatsoever.

“I have no idea why they think it is part of a gun. It’s designed by the company that makes the printer to go in the printer to make it better.”

The component suspected as being a magazine for a gun was in fact a “spool holder” for the 3D printer, he added.

Now this is beyond crazy! First up the parts, even if they are actually “Gun Parts” (which they appear not to be) aren’t jack shit without an actual GUN to attach them to. Further trigger groups and magazines are the easy parts to make for guns, since they don’t hold any of the stresses that are part of the firing, nor do they orient the parts to supply a safe and effective lockup for firing.

This is nothing more than a witch hunt.

Remember, not “Anti-Gun” they are “Anti-Freedom”

“Gun Death” Police

Remember we trust police with guns!

A Los Angeles Police Department officer was charged with assault for kicking a handcuffed woman seven times in the groin, abdomen and upper thigh before the woman lost consciousness and died, prosecutors said Thursday.

While it’s unclear whether the actions by Officer Mary O’Callaghan led to the death of Alesia Thomas, prosecutors believe she used unnecessary force and brought a charge of felony assault under color of authority.

Hey, at least he didn’t shoot her with his sidearm! That would be a “Gun Death”. Kicking a handcuffed woman to death is no big deal!

“Gun Death” Daredevil

People talk about “Gun Death” claiming guns are somehow unsafe.

A wingsuit flyer died after plunging into a valley in rural China during a trial flight for the world championships.

Hungarian Victor Kovats was found with a smashed skull at the foot of 100m cliff this morning after a major search in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park in Hunan Province.

The cause of crash is being investigated, but initial reports suggest his parachute may have failed to deploy.

Given that I’m pro-freedom, I’m all for people doing these crazy dangerous stunts.

I’m not like that. I carry a gun because I’d prefer to die in my bed surrounded by loved ones, rather than as a puddle in the ass end of the world…

Think about that, Antis!

Advice from One Mom to Another

Via Rockstar who is just plain awesome!

Repeat the following:

1. She’s safe
2. She’s fed
3. She’s clean
4. Nothing’s on fire

It’s really hard to retrain our brains to let go of all the other stuff that needs doing. However, you have to reprioritize – you and baby are on top. Everything else is on a completely different page.

Things that helped me and other ideas:
>Do something that makes you feel like yourself / more human. It can (and should!) feel indulgent – go for a walk, bake something, watch TV, get a pedicure, take a long shower, eat toast slathered with butter in bed, etc.
>Plan the next 5 minutes or hour, and try not to think beyond that. You’re in survival mode. Things change on a dime. Once you can accept that, it’s a more freeing.
>Pick the one thing that “needs to get done” that pisses you off more than all the others (dishes, laundry, floors, etc) and do it. Then say fuck it to the rest of the housework until tomorrow. Or next week.
>Stare at your baby. Get lost in her.
>Go onto shutterfly and look at sample XMas picture cards. Since you have a kid, you are now legally obligated to spend the next couple decades sending picture cards.
>Put on work clothes (if they fit decently enough).
>Sit at the table and eat a meal with your husband.
>When your Mom is here, have a mini date with your husband. Look at each other – you probably haven’t done that since She was born. You’re both so sleep deprived and emotional that you’ll probably either start crying, laughing, or both. But, get out of the house together, even if it’s just for 5 minutes.
>do a crossword puzzle
>do a puzzle
>research local Mommy movies
>have a cup of hot chocolate

You get the point 🙂

“Gun Death” New Jersey

It is not the tools, its the monsters among us we need to worry about.

Police are searching for the suspect who sexually assaulted, beat and robbed a 96-year-old woman in her southern New Jersey home.

Relatives say the masked suspect sneaked into the woman’s Pleasantville home when she went outside to get a newspaper early Saturday. Pleasantville is just outside Atlantic City.

Relatives, who asked not to be named to protect her identity, told WMGM-TV she said the suspect knocked her on the floor and tried to strangle her.

Those who constantly tout “Gun Death” imply that somehow less guns will make the world safer.

What would have made the world safer is if this old woman had shot this asshole BEFORE he laid a hand on her.
