Why would anybody need a gun if NOBODY had guns?

Three people are now accused of jumping on and beating a man to death in Minneapolis.

Tony Baker, 33, of Brooklyn Center was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, police said Monday, Dec. 24. Witnesses say he and two other males took turns jumping from a retaining wall onto a man’s chest and abdomen in mid-November.

Kerry Duane Scott, 41, of Hopkins was found bleeding from the head in an alley in the 3300 block of Girard Avenue North in North Minneapolis. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police.

Brutal, but illustrative on why gun bans, and through extension the metric of “Gun Death” is bogus. Even if the invention of guns is erased, we can still have murder, but what we don’t have is the ability of an outnumbered man targeted for a savage attack to defend himself.

I think I’d prefer to live in the world where good guys can carry guns. Wouldn’t you?

Dark Age Meets Modern Age

Spear attack in Massachusetts:

A Northbridge police officer was stabbed with a double-bladed spear following a car chase Friday morning….Tillison allegedly grabbed a spear from a second floor room and attacked Officer Dejordy as he made his way to the top of the stairs.

The spear penetrated Dejordy’s protective vest. Officials say he suffered a stab wound to the abdomen just below the ribs.

“If it had not been for the bullet proof vest, as you can see there would have been some real serious if not fatal injuries to the officer,” Northbridge Police Chief Walter Warchol told WBZ-TV.

Despite Dejordy’s injuries, he managed to tackle Tillson and handcuff him.

First up, I have to call bullshit. Follow the link to see the video with the spear. The officer is alive because he was attacked with an ornamental, wall-hanger piece of shit spear. Soft Kevlar vests don’t do much to protect from bladed weapons like a spear or a knife. If this had been a serious spear, AKA “Military weapon of war”, he’d have been dead.

BTW, why do you NEEEEED a spear? You can’t hunt with them!

The “Pending Climate Disaster”

What’s with it with unethical climate scientists and getting their dirty laundry leaked?

A preliminary draft of a report by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was leaked to the public this month, and climate skeptics say it contains fresh evidence of 20 years of overstated global warming.

The report — which is not scheduled for publication until 2014 — was leaked by someone involved in the IPCC’s review process, and is available for download online. Bloggers combing through the report discovered a chart comparing the four temperature models the group has published since 1990. Each has overstated the rise in temperature that Earth actually experienced.

“Temperatures have not risen nearly as much as almost all of the climate models predicted,” Roy Spencer, a climatologist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, told FoxNews.com.

People need to remember that scientists tend to start off as idealists wanting to do good with their work, not line their pockets on the latest political angle to tax the rich. They need to be more vigilant about making sure even the new internists are quality dirty scientists, because otherwise when they find out the science is all junk and for perpetuating junk grants, they might feel a bit betrayed….you know, the same feeling the people of the world might feel for being force-fed the politics and taxes used to perpetuate this crap.

Also gotta love the numbers:

The IPCC graph shows that the midpoints of the various models predicted that the world would warm by between about 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit and 0.9 degrees Fahrenheit between 1990 and 2012. Actual warming was much less than that: 0.28 F, according the data the IPCC cites.

‘It is evidence that CO2 is not nearly as strong a climate driver as the IPCC has been assuming.’

– Roy Spencer, a climatologist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville

But that doesn’t mean the IPCC models are wrong, others argue.

It doesn’t mean the models are “WRONG” they’re just “So inaccurate that their results have little bearing on reality”.

Another Beware

This is just rank incompetence!

Police in Indiana and Illinois are hunting for a convicted murderer who was mistakenly released from custody in Chicago.

Authorities in Cook County said Thursday that they’re investigating how and why 44-year-old Steven L. Robbins was released.

Robbins was serving a 60-year sentence for murder and weapons charges in Indiana when he was sent to Chicago on Tuesday to face a drug charge. Indiana officials say the drug charge was dropped and Illinois authorities released Robbins without returning him to Indiana.

Sounds like a perfect angel! Isn’t it so nice of them to let him back on the streets.

Remember you don’t need a gun, the Police will protect you!

Locals Beware

There has been a spree of armed robberies near Boston University:

Brookline police arrested two men Thursday on armed robbery charges after they allegedly used a credit card stolen Tuesday from a Boston University researcher to buy an MBTA Charlie Card.

Police arrested Wallace Vick, 19, of Dorchester, and Shaqone Cazeau, 20, of Boston, at their apartments on charges of armed robbery while masked and armed robbery with the intent to murder….The robbery was the latest in a series of holdups of Boston University students since the beginning of the school year. Other suspects were arrested in the earlier incidents.

In Tuesday’s robbery, a 38-year-old postdoctoral fellow from BU was thrown to the ground, stabbed, and punched, police said. The victim told police that he was grabbed from behind. He was taken to the hospital and is now recovering at home, police said Thursday.

They stabbed a guy who was complying with their robbery. “Just give them what you want”, and “You don’t NEED a gun!” indeed. There was talk of some of the robberies a pistol being brandished, no word on a gun recovered, could be this isn’t the only group of thugs.

BTW any bets on how much time these two angles will do for that laundry list of serious crimes? I’ve already stamped this post “Bad Justice”, because its Boston, and they’ll be back on the street in a year, and we’ll be reading about them when they graduate to murder!

Be safe out there, even if these were the guys, they’re uninjured, and going to be out on the street soon, how do you think that makes OTHER thugs feel about armed robbery?

Another Morning Dumb

Wow, when I read the title of this article I expected something different. What I expected was also stupid, but not THIS stupid!

Gun advocates spent their Wednesday fighting on Capitol Hill for the right of female civilians to carry semi-automatic assault weapons while their compatriots on the right are mourning the decision to allow female soldiers to carry guns on the battlefield. You can see why gun rights advocates would want women to be the face of their issue, because we don’t associate women with violence or militias or an obsession with blowing things up. But, at this particular moment, this standard National Rifle Association talking point is crashing into another conservative meme: women aren’t fit to fight in combat.

Seriously? They just straight up compared carrying and owning semi-automatic guns with military service! So, wait, because I can stick a pistol in my pocket and jump through the BS permit processes, I’m now fit for combat duty?

I love it when people play gotcha with things they don’t even respect or care about.

But this talking point — especially the part about the AR-15 — is not helping the conservative cause. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the military’s M4 and M16. A gun that’s so light to carry? So easy to shoot? Such a great equalizer of the sexes? It’s what soldiers use in Afghanistan, the gun people opposed to women in combat say women would struggle to carry.

Yep, because me defending my home from an intruder, or defending my life against an attack on the street is exactly the same as running a strike mission in the mountains of Afghanistan.

How can they not be ashamed to pen this stuff? How can Editors not read this and say “Seriously, I’m not printing the garbage!”?

“Gun Death” Umbrella

OK the Mall Cops who called in the SWAT team for an Umbrella maybe were onto something.

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl died hours after allegedly being hit by a wind-blown umbrella at a school break-up party at a Bundaberg pool.

Police said the child was struck in the head by an umbrella that had blown over at Anzac Pool on Quay Street in Bundaberg about 11am Thursday.

Maybe I was wrong…or maybe the people who prattle on about “Gun Death” are wrong.
