From the Onion of course!
Snerk!
Sootch shares some gun malfs in the video including two Negligent discharges.
One thing to note that while he messed up in both the NDs, because he kept the muzzle in a safe direction the only harm is his pride. I’ve had two NDs in my history, both were in hot ranges, with the gun in a safe direction. I also had an honest-to-goodness Accidental discharge when racking the slide of a custom target 1911. The 1911’s trigger was so light that my rough handling of the slide was enough to get the trigger to trip with my finger off of it.
Again with the gun in a safe direction the only harm was my calm and my pride.
Even when severe accidents like this happen, guns are still very safe. Remember those four rules, and live your life by them!
Aaron over at The Weapon Blog notes some dodgy wordy in the Feinstein “Assault Weapon” bill:
According to the bill, any semiautomatic firearm that uses a magazine — handgun, rifle or shotgun — equipped with a “pistol grip,” would be banned. That sounds like a limitation, but it is not.
A pistol grip (on page 2) is defined (on page 13) as “a grip, a thumb-hole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip.” In other words, the gun list does not matter. It is a smokescreen designed to distract people from the true meaning of the bill. And it has done a magnificent job. It worked!Any semi-automatic firearm that exists, with anything on it you can grip, is banned. (There is a grandfather clause for old stuff.)
The list is meaningless tripe. It is camouflage for the real purpose of the bill. When the president said he is not going to take away your guns, well, Feinstein’s bill puts the lie to that.
Magazine size does not matter. Brand name does not matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s black. If you can grip it, it’s banned under this bill.
Its noted in the comments that this does ONLY apply to long guns. Still this reads a lot like the text of Carolyn McCarthy’s HR 1022, where a “Barrel Shroud” was pretty much considered any place to grip a rifle or shotgun that kept your hand from gripping the hot barrel. That would have banned EVERY semi-auto long-gun by stupid definition.
This nonsense does sound like the stock of a Min-14, or 10/22, or an SKS will be considered a “Grip” and allow for those guns to be banned.
Which is exactly what they want anyway!
Thanks for the heads up Aaron!
Rahm is asking mutual funds to stop working with gun makers!
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, in his latest bid to pressure gun manufacturers and those who do business with them, asked mutual fund companies Wednesday to “blacklist” and divest from firearms-makers that oppose “common sense” gun reforms.
The Democratic mayor made the request after telling commercial banks Tuesday to stop lending to gun manufacturers that stand in the way of gun control legislation.
You know that actions like this are simply giving the finger to the people. They know they’re going to be lucky to get ANY of their anti-gun bills passed, so they’re simply going to try to crush the industry from insider methods.
Topics for Tonight’s Squirrel Report are already posted.
We’ll be talking about wild weather, and the new sensational policy of naming anything with snow “Winter Storm X”.
Also Hilliary’s horrible behavior, as well as some of the anti-gun nonsense.
Tune in 9pm EST tonight for THE SQUIRREL REPORT!
Hammers….they kill more people than rifles!
A Tampa-Bay area man who authorities say attacked his neighbor with a hammer has been charged with second degree murder with a weapon….Authorities say Brooks approached Jonathan Acree from behind at a Thonotosassa trailer park, striking him in the head and neck multiple times with a hammer.
Acree was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The sheriff’s office SWAT team was called to the home where Brooks was barricaded. Authorities say he surrendered after tear gas was shot into the mobile home. There was no one else in the trailer.
The SWAT team didn’t seem to think this hammer was simply harmless. But there are no calls for banning hammers, even tho the guns that people are attempting to ban take less lives than they do.
Its almost like people who cite “Gun Death” are full of shit.
Spent Stinger Tube shows up in a Seattle Buy-Back
It probably is worth a look at the serial numbers to see where the tube came from and how it got here. Still there is a LOT of dumb here. The talk of re-arming the launcher to full potential is like somebody turning in an AR grip or stock and noting that somebody CAN take that piece and build a whole rifle around it.
I don’t know much about Stingers to know if it is an inert training tube, or it did once have a live rocket on board. Either way this isn’t a huge deal. And if it IS a huge deal, kinda nice that Seattle does the whole “No Questions Asked” thing, right?
Ungh, no energy, and a busy day today, so no free ice cream this morning.
What do you all want to talk about?
I wish the end wasn’t so tragic, so I could chuckle over this.
Eamonn Kilbride, 46, was performing the energetic dance by Korean popstar PSY at the Thwaites Brewery party in Blackburn, Lancashire when he suddenly fell to the ground.
Given the location, I suspect alcohol played a big roll in all of this. We can transpose this over to American history and unintended consequences. People were upset by the social issues with excessive drinking in the US so we banned the sale and consumption of alcohol. From that we had a massive, and bloody crime syndicate created with the sole purpose of distributing illegal alcohol to the people. It killed and harmed far more people than the booze ever did. So we repealed the law and amended the constitution and never looked back.
Today the people who cite “Gun Death” are the modern Temperance Movement. Let’s not let that mistake happen with our guns.
