Controlling the Message

This story is a bit troubling.

Four gun shows, all about an hour’s drive from Newtown, Conn., all canceled….the venue backed out. Same with three other shows in New York’s Hudson Valley, according to the organizer.

Gun advocates aren’t backing down from their insistence on the right to keep and bear arms. But heightened sensitivities and raw nerves since the Newtown shooting have led to toned-down displays at gun shows and prompted some officials and sponsors to cancel the well-attended exhibitions altogether.

Some of the most popular guns will be missing from next weekend’s gun show in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., after show organizers agreed to bar the display and sale of AR-15 military-style semiautomatic weapons and their large-clip magazines.

“The majority of people wanted these guns out of the city,” said Chris Mathiesen, Saratoga Springs’ public safety commissioner. “They don’t want them sold in our city, and I agree. Newtown, Conn., is not that far away.”

Now shows and venues have the right to cancel or limit what can and can’t be sold. Still what worries me is that this may be controlling the message. No gun show, and no semi-auto rifles? What “Majority” has spoken out about this?

I suspect its all BS and Knee-jerk reactions, and what troubles me is that the uninitiated will think its true.

This is why we need to be out there, talking to people, and spreading the truth.

“Gun Death” House Fire

A big bad one, but not a “Gun Death”

Oklahoma City House Fire Kills Mother, 4 Children…Knight said there didn’t appear to be anything suspicious about the fire, which he called a tragedy, although investigators were still trying to determine a cause…. McKinney said the home didn’t have working smoke detectors and was completely destroyed on the inside.

Three dogs were also killed in the blaze.

Just a terrible accident, compounded by no working smoke detectors. But not a “Gun Death” so this isn’t newsworthy.

The Return of the Troll

Oh GOD No!

Financial executives and Capitol Hill colleagues who thought they had seen the last of sharp-tongued Rep. Barney Frank holding court from atop a congressional dais might face him again soon — if only for a short while.

The outspoken Massachusetts Democrat, whose 16 terms in the House officially ended this week, said Friday he wanted to be the interim replacement for Sen. John Kerry.

I don’t know if he’s eligible as he now lives with his boyfriend (and convicted pot dealer) in Maine.

Also I don’t know if a few months in the senate will pad out his pension. Either way, I was happy to see him gone from politics forever, but we may not be so lucky.

Just When I Thought I Couldn’t Love the LCR More

I wasn’t so sure about the Ruger LCR when it first came out. It didn’t seem that much better than my S&W642.

Then they came out with the .357 Magnum version at only a fraction of the price of the Scandium .357s offered by S&W. Then they came out with the .22 LR…yeah I NEED one of those.

Now .22 WMR!!

I wish they had built up the cylinder a bit more so it could hold 8 like the .22 LR version, but 6 rounds of .22 WMR isn’t anything to squawk about.

have a look at this ballistic test in gel from a smaller gun:

Protect And Serve

Only Ones:

Massachusetts police responding to reports of teenagers tossing eggs at a house last month got quite a surprise when they tracked down the suspects.

A department spokesman tells The MetroWest Daily News the three people who egged the house in Framingham early Dec. 11 were fellow law enforcement officers serving with the Newton police. They were off duty at the time.

They told Framingham police the egging incident was “a prank, a joke between friends.”

Yeah, because I’ve cleaned egg off my house and went “Oh those kids are SO funny!!”. Yeah, not buying that. Still super classy that it was cops. Remember they’re the only ones who can be trusted with deadly weapons, and the very people you should depend on to protect you if you’re in danger.

Nice!

Conneticut Lawmakers to INCREASE Crime

By Publishing Gun Owner Information:

Lawmakers in Connecticut – still stunned from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting – are moving forward with legislation that could make public the names and addresses of 170,000 handgun permit holders in the state.

The measure, introduced by state Rep. Stephen Dargan, is the latest effort to clamp down on guns in Connecticut. If passed, the bill would reverse a 20-year decision by state lawmakers to keep the personal information confidential. The legislation would make the information fair game under the state’s Freedom of Information Act.

Dargan told FoxNews.com on Friday the measure was not intended to pit gun control activists and pro-gun groups against each other. Instead, it’s “to get a broader discussion going on gun issues and mental health in the state.”

And how might it do that? I hate these laws. First up, its none of your damn business WHAT I own, still I know many people who suddenly got the whole gun ownership thing when they started reviving death threats. Now their threat will know where they live, and what they own.

Also while I haven’t seen any stories about this, I can see criminals using this as a shopping list. It would be no different than publishing the addresses of people who get prescriptions to pain killers. These items have a high street value, and can be assumed are in the home even when the owner is at work.

Here’s another exposure of an anti-gun lie. The big #1 is that they aren’t going to take our guns away. They are. #2 is they want us to be safer…they don’t.

“Gun Death” Gang Rape

When you have strict gun control, the innocent are defenseless:

A young woman who died after being gang-raped and beaten on a bus in India’s capital was cremated Sunday amid an outpouring of anger and grief by millions across the country demanding greater protection for women from sexual violence…The tragedy has forced India to confront the reality that sexually assaulted women are often blamed for the crime, forcing them to keep quiet and discouraging them from going to authorities for fear of exposing their families to ridicule. Police often refuse to accept complaints from rape victims, and the rare prosecutions that reach courts can drag on for years.

The story says these monsters face the death penalty, which is likely because of the media attention, hence the “Bad Justice” tag as well. Let’s hope this tragedy fixes some of the stated problems.
