Didn’t Take Long

Criminal freed on drug lab scandal now a fugitive.

A career criminal and convicted rapist whose bail was reduced after a chemist was accused of mishandling drug samples at a state lab failed to show up for a court date and is now a fugitive, authorities said Thursday.

Carry your guns, folks, here there be dragons!

The Four Rules

We all know the four rules, right?

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

This is why!

Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania have charged a mother with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 19-month-old boy hit by a gunshot in his crib….Investigators say the mother told officers she was planning to sell a gun and was unloading it when it fired.

Now we COULD spot her rule 3, as this might be a primer-strike by the extractor, but I doubt it. Still the muzzle was in an unsafe direction, the gun was loaded and not treated as such, and maybe we can spot her rule 4, as she wasn’t actively shooting.

Follow those four rules! Make sure everybody who has guns knows them and follows them. It very well could save a life!

Coincidence?

I wonder:

A Massachusetts company that mixes drugs for hospitals on Wednesday gave up an attempt to distance itself from an affiliated pharmacy linked to a deadly U.S. outbreak of fungal meningitis.

Ameridose LLC agreed to close down for 12 days while state and federal officials investigate the New England Compounding Center, which distributed thousands of vials of a contaminated steroid made at a shabby brick complex next to a waste and recycling operation in a western suburb of Boston.

A guy at work was noting the odd coincidence that a drug that would be injected into the backs of patient would just so happen to be contaminated with the fungus that causes meningitis. Of course it could just be dumb luck and incompetence, still this story is very creepy.

Interesting Story

Tam recently talked about this story where a cop shot a man in an electric wheelchair armed only with a pen. Now this:

A police officer at the University of South Alabama has fatally shot a naked student whom authorities said repeatedly charged the officer.

University officials said the confrontation happened early Saturday morning when the officer went outside a police station to investigate a banging noise at a window.

Once outside, the officer was confronted by a naked man acting erratically.

Authorities said the man repeatedly charged the officer, who pulled his gun and retreated several times in an attempt to defuse the situation. When the man made a final charge, the officer shot him once in the chest.

Follow-up story here:

A University of South Alabama campus police officer who fatally shot a naked student was carrying pepper spray and a baton at the time, the school said Friday.

University spokesman Keith Ayers said Officer Trevis Austin, a four-year employee in his first police job, was armed with all three weapons when he walked outside the police station with his gun drawn to confront Gil Collar. The 18-year-old college freshman was naked when he banged on police department windows in the pre-dawn hours last Saturday….Authorities said Collar, a 5-foot-7, 140-pound high school wrestler in his first semester of college, was on LSD when he moved aggressively toward the officer in an athletic stance, prompting the shooting. But surveillance video shows the student never tried to grab the officer’s weapon or got within 4 or 5 feet of Austin.

Now I guess you could make an argument that a College wrestler might have the skill to kill and armed police officer even while naked…still why do we put those other tools on their belt, if not for moments like this?

Hey, we can trust the cops with guns because they are so “highly trained”!

More Love for the TSA

When Flying last weekend I’d see the people in the blue uniforms wandering around the airport and staffing the 4th Amendment violation stations, and I wondered “I wonder what the people of Germany thought when they saw their first Nazi Uniform in the 20s?”

Now I’m not saying the TSA are willing to commit genocide….unless the President authorized them to, then it would be on!

So here’s this feel good story from the goons in blue.

A leukemia patient making what she calls an “end-of-life” trip to Hawaii says she was embarrassed by security agents at the Seattle airport who refused her request for a private pat-down and made her lift her shirt and pull back her bandages.

Michelle Dunaj also says an agent at Sea-Tac Airport opened a saline bag, contaminating fluid she needs to survive.

TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis tells KOMO-TV it’s against policy to deny a private screening for passengers who request it. The agency is investigating.

I’ve actually had to talk TSA goons OUT of putting me in a private room to touch my penis. Hell in my last Perv-Scan refusal the guy tried to talk me into how “safe” the millimeter wave scanners are, I told the guy that the scanner was for HIS convenience, not mine.

Also they ask if I have any medical issues or fresh injuries before they touch you. I almost pointed out that the day before I had cracked my pinkie nail on Ambulance Driver’s trap thrower, and it hurt really bad. But pulling back bandages, and opening a STERILE bag of saline for a LEUKEMIA patient? (ie somebody who likely has a compromised immune system!)

These beasts are monsters….and they’re INCOMPETENT monsters!

An internal report shows screeners at Newark Liberty International Airport are properly executing standard pat-downs of passengers only 16.7 percent of the time….But it also found that in numerous categories, including removing prohibited items found during physical searches and exhibiting good listening skills, screeners performed their duties properly 100 percent of the time.

Of course that 100% is suspect, given that I know people who have forgotten knives they’ve forgotten in their bags, and we’ve read about people getting guns through security. Still, even this flawed study shows that when the TSA violates our 4th Amendment, they do it with rank incompetence.

Oh and this feel-good!

A multibillion-dollar information-sharing program created in the aftermath of 9/11 has improperly collected information about innocent Americans and produced little valuable intelligence on terrorism, a Senate report concludes. It portrays an effort that ballooned far beyond anyone’s ability to control.

What began as an attempt to put local, state and federal officials in the same room analyzing the same intelligence has instead cost huge amounts of money for data-mining software, flat screen televisions and, in Arizona, two fully equipped Chevrolet Tahoes that are used for commuting, investigators found….Because of a convoluted grants process set up by Congress, Homeland Security officials don’t know how much they have spent in their decade-long effort to set up so-called fusion centers in every state. Government estimates range from less than $300 million to $1.4 billion in federal money, plus much more invested by state and local governments. Federal funding is pegged at about 20 percent to 30 percent.

Despite that, Congress is unlikely to pull the plug. That’s because, whether or not it stops terrorists, the program means politically important money for state and local governments….When fusion centers did address terrorism, they sometimes did so in ways that infringed on civil liberties. The centers have made headlines for circulating information about Ron Paul supporters, the ACLU, activists on both sides of the abortion debate, war protesters and advocates of gun rights.

Bloated, incompetent, and expensive! Disband the TSA YESTERDAY!

“Gun Death” More Cars

“Car Death” isn’t like “Gun Death”, because “Progressives” drive cars! (BTW how about that saturation of scare quotes there!!)

A teenager was killed Monday night trying to cross South Central Expressway in Dallas.

Frank Miner, 16, was struck by a car on the freeway near Metropolitan Avenue. He was rushed to the Baylor Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

What a horrible scourge of traffic deaths! Where is the “Common Sense?”

“Gun Death” Burns

Wow!

A 29-year-old Austin man whom police say was set on fire by his wife last April has died of his burns.

The Bexar County medical examiner’s office has ruled Bimal Patel’s death at San Antonio Military Medical Center on Saturday a homicide. He had been in the hospital’s burn unit since April 17, when Austin police responding to a reported domestic disturbance found him severely burned on his apartment floor….Investigators had said the woman lured her husband into a bathtub with the promise of a massage. Instead, they say she poured gasoline on him and set him afire.

Man that is a long, slow, painful death! Good thing she didn’t have a gun. Instead she had a candle. The antis light candles to commemorate “Gun Death”…but what about candle deaths?

Clean Gun Zen

Ahhh, just scrubbed all the Colorado dust out of my PM45. It didn’t look that bad inside, but the little gun was choking more than a few times. Could also be that the gun had mostly been riding in my pocket, and hadn’t gotten a fresh coat of oil and grease before the range day.

Still even dirty, dusty, and dry, the little gun got rode hard by the various bloggers who hadn’t had the fortune of shooting the little wonder.

There is a lot to say about a gun in .45 small and light enough to tuck in your pocket, that you can shoot all day without getting a sore hand!

It IS a Form of Exercise….

More enjoyable too!

Residents of a Maine town are going to have to wait at least a few more days before learning if friends and neighbors have been accused of calling on a Zumba instructor charged with being a prostitute….Alexis Wright, of Wells, has pleaded not guilty to prostitution, invasion of privacy and other charges for allegedly accepting money for sex and secretly videotaping her encounters. Her business partner also pleaded not guilty.

I’d take that over a Zumba class anyday! 😀

The video-taping without consent seems a bit dodgy, but I still don’t see why its a crime to sell something that its perfectly legal to give away for free!
