“Gun Death” UK

UK, strong gun control laws, strong knife laws…low “Gun death”

Jordan Malutshi, from London, was stabbed in the heart at The Face Bar in Chatham Street in Reading shortly before 04:00 BST on Sunday.

Jordan was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he died a short time later.

This is the Utopia those who use the metric of “Gun Death” want for us!

California Scam

Via Spike from the #GBC, this mess.

A school district north of San Diego, Poway Unified, borrowed $105 million over 40 years by selling a bond so unusual that the State of Michigan outlawed it years ago. Taxpayers in the area will end up with a nearly $1 billion bill at the end of this deal….The underwriters for the nearly $1 billion Poway bond deal, Stone & Youngberg, a unit of Stifel Nicolaus, and financial advisor Dolinka Group of Irvine, Calif., will get a sweet $1.4 million in total fees, says FOX News analyst James Farrell.

Citigroup (C: 28.86, -0.03, -0.10%), Goldman Sachs (GS: 102.50, -0.74, -0.72%), Bank of America/Merrill Lynch (BAC: 7.67, 0.00, 0.00%), among others, will split a cool $2.1 million on San Diego’s $164 million bond where taxpayers will eventually pay a billion dollars, Farrell notes.

What a Mess! California has been losing money in a rapid fashion for decades, they’re only doing worse, not better. When the bond comes due they’re going to be even MORE in debt than they are today, I fail to see any other possibility but default. Can you say “Too Big To Fail”? This will simply dip into the FEDERAL debt, which of course is a bottomless pit, as the Nation won’t declare bankruptcy, it just doesn’t pay its bills….

The fools!

Same Story:

The Obama administration told law enforcement authorities to go easy on Occupy Wall Street protesters, even though they were violating local laws, according to documents obtained by watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property. JudicialWatch.org obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act request lodged last year.

In one exchange from Nov. 6, 2011, officials from the Department of Homeland Security and the GSA discuss a group of 11 protesters camped out at the federally-owned Terry Schrunk Plaza.

On Making The Bad Sale

I’ve had a sundry history of employment, I’ve worked in a Daycare, I’ve worked as a hazardous materiel worker, I’ve worked as a commercial SCUBA diver, I’ve thrown lines on tour boats, I’ve cooked food, I’ve been a field scientist, I’ve worked in pharmaceutical research.

I’ve never dug a grave for money…if anybody has a line, I’d like to add that to my resume! But where I’m going is one of my jobs was pouring drinks on a tour boat. Before I served my first drink I was told by my boss that bars could be held liable for people who were over-served, and got into serious trouble. Thankfully I never had to refuse somebody a drink, still my big concern was that the people I had the most fear of were the people I could pose the least judgement on. A hardcore alcoholic has been shitfaced drunk enough that he can conceal his stupor from me, the young bartender, and this prick could order a few beers from me (after maybe drinking at another bar) and then drive home and kill somebody.

This story reminds me of my past reservations:

Kevin Nugent, owner of the Shooters Shop, about eight miles southwest of Milwaukee in West Allis, Wis., told The Times that Page came looking for a handgun on July 28.

“He asked about a 9 millimeter,” Nugent said Tuesday.

Nugent said Page did not look strange and appeared calm.

“He didn’t have a shaved head or 9/11 tattoo. He didn’t talk stupid or act stupid,” Nugent said. “He raised no eyebrows whatsoever.”

Nugent, who runs one of the few gun shops in the area that boasts a large selection, said he reserves the right not to sell to customers who appear irate or under the influence. Page was neither, he said.

“We’re very strict,” he added.

Nugent ran a background check that day, and Page was cleared for purchase.

“All the proper channels for authorization were followed,” he said. “Nothing we could do would have stopped this.”

He’s 100% right, NOTHING would have stopped this sale, no matter what the antis say.

The only thing that would have stopped this if one of the Sikhs had been carrying a pistol for just such an occasion (and maybe religious tenants).

Carry your guns people, here there be monsters!

Oops, and Anti-Gun Reaction

You gotta love the anti-rights activists, they know NOTHING about what they lobby for, but it doesn’t stop them from being LOUD in their ignorance:

Here’s the story:

WASHINGTON –

D.C. Police have confirmed to FOX 5 that they are investigating why an Army-style assault rifle was mistakenly mailed to a D.C. man in an online order.

Seth Horvitz says he ordered a flat-screen television from a third party through Amazon.com. He received a package that was left in the hallway outside of his Northeast D.C. apartment Tuesday, but instead of a television, he found a black semi-automatic rifle inside the box.

Unsure about what to do with the rifle, Horvitz says he contacted police about it Tuesday evening. Police confiscated the rifle when they came to his apartment….The shipping label on the box had Horvitz’s name and address, but the invoice inside the box indicated it should have been shipped to a gun shop in Pennsylvania.

Yeah, the NRA has totally supported this. The seller committed a crime here. Long-guns, unlike handguns CAN be sold across state lines, but all these sales need to be done in person at an FFL. For example, I’ve bought long guns in New Hampshire and Maine on a few occasions. I walked into the store, bought my guns, then took them to Massachusetts. Unique to Mass, I then submitted registration for those guns to the Mass Police *spit*.

An FFL cannot ship a gun directly to a private citizen, with the exception of guns being repaired or worked on by an FFL and returning the gun to the original owner. This is a colossal fuckup, as this dude ordered a TV and got a rifle. We’ve all gotten odd packages from warehouse screwups, but most of the time they aren’t CRIMINAL screwups.

Also good on the guy for contacting the police, bad on the antis for lying about it.

O’Reilly Is Such an Idiot!

Mary Kathrine is talking facts, and O’Reilly jumps in and says “Let’s go from the realm of the Theoretical to discuss some facts” then blathers on on a hypothetical situation of Mary Kathrine’s daughter dying of an OD. And when she answers him he says “I don’t want to hear that!”

Why does this dick even have guests on his show. He should be running an NPR-style forum where everybody just agrees with him, and nobody listens….

If You Can’t Win…CHEAT!

This is just part of a big despicable plan!

In a move that puts new meaning to the term battleground, President Obama’s re-election campaign and members of some military groups are on a collision course over voting rights in the critical state of Ohio.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee have filed a lawsuit to block a new state law allowing men and women in uniform to vote up until the Monday right before an election, while the cutoff on early voting for the rest of the public is three days earlier.

Unlike the rest of the public active military doesn’t have things we take for granted like “days off”, this law makes perfect sense. While the military is hardly a political monoculture, being in harm’s way does add it bit of urgency to politics many of us don’t understand, and I suspect left-leaning service members aren’t too happy about how “Anti-War” President Obama has handled things.

Couple this with the Left’s fight against voter ID allowing illegals, criminals, those not eligible to vote, and people voting in different districts, states, and multiple times, I think you can see which way the wind is blowing….

Not Buying It!

Can’t see it:

Police in Arkansas are investigating whether a man fatally shot himself in the head as he sat in the backseat of a patrol car with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Chavis Carter, 21, died after Jonesboro police stopped a truck in which he was riding July 28 and learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant related to a drug charge. Carter was searched twice, handcuffed and put into the back of the patrol car, according to a police report.

Officers a short time later saw Carter slumped over in the backseat and covered in blood, according to the report, which concluded he had managed to conceal a handgun with which he shot himself. He later died at a hospital, and the report listed his death as a suicide.

Jonesboro Police Chief Michael Yates said Tuesday it appeared Carter shot himself in the head, but his department is investigating the incident, which the chief described as “very unusual.”

Occam’s Razor isn’t THAT sharp….

Poke Fun

Thought I’d grab this low-hanging fruit:

Good Hint Ladd! They come from ILLINOIS!!!!! (PDF)

BTW this data isn’t unique, every state report I’ve read, and every year I’ve read it shows that the vast majority of the ATF traced guns trace right back to the state where they were recovered.

Sorry kids, but the “Iron Pipeline” is about as real as bigfoot!

Oh and on another note does anybody know what that bizzao gun is at the top of the ATF PDF? Looks like an old Beretta had a lovechild with a SIG, and probably drank during the pregnancy.
