Good Turnout Ladd!

Ladd had himself a little protest in Virgina against the NRA today. It turned out as well as you’d expect.

Wow 11 people! Also note that there are two signs on the ground unused…looks like CSGV made up a few too many. Also they’re all in apparently the same handwriting, so it looks like the “dedicated” followers of CSGV are only involved enough to show up…all 10 of them. Also I wonder if the dude with the grocery sack actually meant to be at the protest, or if he just got conned into the photo-op.

Oh yeah, I’m terrified that they’re gaining ground! 🙂

How Gun Laws REALLY Work

The antis like to claim after a mass shooting that if one or more laws had been passed it would have stopped everything….but really this story being pushed by the antis is a better argument against them than for them.

Timothy Courtois, 49, pleaded not guilty during an arraignment at Springvale District Court early this afternoon. He appeared through a video feed from York County Jail.

He is being held on bail of $50,000 in cash or $150,000 in real estate. Bail conditions also say he may not use alcohol or illegal drugs and may not possess dangerous weapons including firearms.

State police said the FBI is involved in the investigation because Courtois said he planned to cross the state line and go to New Hampshire to shoot a former employer. The Bureau of Alchohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, also is investigating because one of the guns seized from Courtois’ home was a fully automatic rifle that is not legal for civilians to own, according to the state police.

Now those talking heads saying Colorado having some of the “Loosest gun laws in the country” are a bunch of pikers. Colorado has been corrupted by California refugees and they brought some of their bizarre ideas about guns with them. Now Maine is full of transplant Massholes, but they haven’t been able to do jack with the gun laws. Maine is VERY gun friendly.

Still this guy is likely going away for a LONG time. Also I suspect he’s a prohibited person anyway….but he’s gonna be one now.

Also I’m glad most of the nuts are crazy enough to get caught so easily. We got lots of good laws, we just need to enforce them. Still police aren’t everywhere, so carry your damn guns!

The Music Goes On

I won’t lie, I haven’t really been impressed by the latest Pomplamoose songs. Their videos are always cool, but many of the tunes just aren’t for me. This one is great!

Bonus it being a cover of the Danny Elfman theme which is a favorite of mine. Also in response to Jack’s opening, I appreciate his reverence on delaying the release, but he shouldn’t be so broken up by it. Much like gun owners shouldn’t feel guilty that some jerk did evil things, artists celebrating the Batman movies have no fault in the horrible things that happened last week.

Life goes on, and the music goes on!

Another .308 Battle Rifle

I love .308 for a rifle round. I find it to be one of the best mixes between power and size and recoil, and it makes for a great rifle that can fit a wide range of aplications.

This review is a VERY good one. I’ve been following Falia since her early concealed carry videos (go check them out, especially if you a small-frame woman looking for concealment options, she has one of the hardest body-types for concealment…as well as her wardrobe doesn’t make concessions for carry), and its great to see her making great progress in her youtube channel!

Man that’s a great looking rifle. Looks like they took all the best parts of the FAL and all the best parts of the AR10 and combined them. Also in the takedown section she uses an Allen wrench to remove the barrel….but from what I can see it looks like this gun can be easily cleaned and maintained without needing to remove the barrel. Just pull out the op rod and action and simply swab the barrel and piston through the upper receiver. Still it sounds like popping the barrel out doesn’t change the zero of the gun, which is a selling point.

She doesn’t say but it looks like it takes Magpul .308 P-Mags.

**UPDATE** Speaking of .308 Youtube reviews!

Looks great, my only concern is can the company keep up with parts and demand?

Oh and the Can! Nice to hear .308 so quiet. When I shoot my FAL at the indoor range at the club it certainly turns some heads.

Does anybody have any experience with these guns? Of course they’re illegal in Massachusetts, but I’d still love to hear if anybody else shoots one.

Deadly Weapon

It isn’t always what you think:

A Lynn man was shot and killed by police after an incident in which the car the suspect was riding in rammed a police vehicle, officials said.

About 9:30 last night, officers observed Brandon Payne walking with a weapon in the area of Essex Street, according to a statement from Lynn police. Payne then got into a car with other men inside. Police attempted to stop that car and another vehicle that was following the first car, police said.

Cars can be used as deadly weapons, and we all know that they can be VERY effective as such. Also Massachusetts, the land of gun control:

The suspects are charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (the motor vehicle) and firearm charges.

Chances are they were prohibited people, didn’t have permits, and probably were engaged in other illegal activities (hence why police were watching them in the first place)….odd that all the gun laws in Massachusetts didn’t stop this, and odder still that the deadly weapon employed in this attack was NOT a gun, but a car!

Size Does Matter

This little bit got me giggling:

<+Awelowynt_work> I’ve been staring at pictures of WEERD all night.

[05:21] <+Awelowynt_work> I didn’t think length would be an issue, but I was wrong.

[05:21] <+Awelowynt_work> Turns out that extra inch makes all the difference in the world.

[05:21] <+Farmmom> wouldn’t that be nice 🙂

[05:21] <@Gay_Cynic> one can always dream 😉

[05:22] <+Farmmom> And why have you been staring at weerd?????

Well the pictures he’s been looking at are here

Awelowynt got himself a shoulder holster, and while he’s a thinner guy than I am, and while my 1911 is a Commander with a 4.24″ barrel, he’s been attempting to conceal a 5″ gun in a similar rig.

When you’re carrying guns size DOES matter, tho not all dimensions are equal! In this carry rig the overall height of the gun isn’t as important as the overall length. So while I need a shorter 1911 (and honestly a gun with a 4″ barrel would probably carry a bit better), but as you can see I’m even carrying Wilson Combat 8-round magazines that extend a bit from the base of the gun, because the added length isn’t an issue, even with a full-size grip on a 1911.

Meanwhile if you carry in an IWB rig, the barrel is down your pants, so unless the gun you’re carrying is REALLY long, length doesn’t matter, but the grip is hanging out over your belt, and a longer grip is harder to conceal than a shorter grip. Because IWB carry is VERY popular these days, and 1911s are still as popular as they ever were, this is why so many gun makers are making “Colt CCO” pattern guns, which are officer sized guns, but with a 4.25″ barrel, so you have a longer barrel and a shorter grip.

And of course with my holster what conceals the gun is the width of my chest. For a thinner guy they need a smaller gun, for a bigger guy he can hide more. Also for women with breasts this can be an advantage.

Still many people carry at the 4:00 position (or even a bit further back behind the kidney) because it still allows for a natural strong-side draw, but now your back is doing much of the hiding, and it is one of the widest parts of the human body.

Good luck on finding the right gun and carry rig for all who are looking, and carry your guns, you never know when you might need them!

“Not Far Off”

“The Right To Bear Arms gives you the right to kill at random”??? So why is it gun shops are flush with new customers, carry classes have a backlog for months, departments that issue permits are struggling to meet demand, and the NICS system keeping setting new records….but the “Gun Death” in this country has been +/- 1% 30,000 “Gun Deaths” per year, and about 60% of that number is suicide (I don’t think Suicide is a victim selected at random, Mikey).

And of those homicides we have, most of them are career criminals shooting other career criminals…odd that nobody has ever defended the 2nd Amendment of this group before…or ever will.

We call Bloomberg’s statements like this a “Bald-Faced Lie”, and its the #1 talking point for anti-freedom cultists!

“Gun Death” National Park

National Parks..they’re dangerous places.

An 18-year-old woman plunged hundreds of feet to her death on her first day working at Yellowstone National Park.

The unidentified woman was hiking with three people along the edge of the popular Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone on Thursday evening when she walked off the trail at Inspiration Point, the Yellowstone National Park Service (NPS) said.

A Young woman is dead…obviously there is no good use for National Parks, so we should raze them and pave them over for the good of our fellow man. That would be the response from anti-freedom types if we treated all death like “Gun Death”.

I Think the Antis Miss the Fudds

Back in the 90s the anti-rights cult had their pinnacle moment. They passed the Brady Background check, an import ban on “non sporting arms” was created, and then they passed a ban on so-called “Assault Weapons” and magazines they deemed “High Capacity”.

Back then there were a LOT more people who supported gun control, this support was fairly common, and was bi-partisan. Still the biggest boon for this movement were gun owning sportsmen. These people have been labeled with the derogatory term “Fudd” after the foolish Loony Tunes character. They saw gun control as an inevitability, and banned together to protect THEIR guns by offering up the “assault weapons” and “High Capacity guns” because THEIR guns weren’t part of that.

Of course we all know that when things come to an apex, the only way is down. The antis broke their promise and started talking about “Sniper Rifles”, and “Armor Piercing ammo”, and started talks on banning anything that was semi-automatic. The hunters realized that even the most pedestrian deer rifle was subject to bans, and that the anti-rights cult wasn’t to be trusted.

Since then there are VERY few “Fudds” out there, and generally they are limited to far left-wing “Progressives” who grew up in families and areas where hunting is a common pastime. But most hunters realized that not only their guns were in threat, but that so-called “Assault weapons” had a lot of legitimate uses for both self defense and for sporting.

One thing you can always trust in anti-rights people is for them to be tone deaf. Take Jason Kilgore of Ceasefire Oregon:

When you picture someone who is dressed and armed for self-defense and conceal carry, what do you picture? I picture someone dressed normal, except for a handgun strapped under their jacket or in a holster at their waist or in their purse.

When you picture someone who is dressed and armed for hunting, what do you picture? I picture someone in rugged outdoor clothes, a hunter-red vest and hat, and a long rifle.

Maybe in the 90s Jason, hunters looked just like Elmer Fudd. Today so many people have turned to modern semi-auto rifles for hunting. Also even at the beginning of the 20th Century hunters were using carbines in dense forests. In Maine if you’re going to stalk game, your walking through thick woods. The old-time hunters often chose something like a lever carbine in .30-30. Powerful, light, and compact. Perfect for “Brush Hunting”. All those “traditional” guns are out there, but now with all the versatility of the AR-15 platform those guns are VERY popular for hunting, and are frankly becoming the new “traditional”.

Further the Remington 870 has been in duck blinds and deer stands ever since the gun was first introduced in the 1950.

For conceal carry Glock is one of the most popular brands still.

But what about home defense? The pump-action shotgun has been the mainstay for longer than even the handgun, the AR rifle is gaining massive popularity as some of the myths about stopping power and over-penetration are being dispelled.

Of course he’s pointing out the armor and gear the shooter was using. Still like everything, something can be used for good, or for evil. If you had the option to throw a ballistic vest over your PJs when you heard the sounds of somebody breaking into your home, wouldn’t you? I also have heard of some people who are range officers at shooting events who throw on a vest just in case. Accidents are rare, but they can get ugly FAST, so why not?

As for the gas mask, did anybody hear the police radio band where officers were calling for gas masks so they could enter the smoke-filled theater? Again, what can be used for offensive attacks can be used also to defend.

Of course Jason, and his compatriots think there are still Fudds left to be wooed by their lies. I might argue that they don’t exist, they’re either entrenched leftists who are willing to find another hobby if that’s what the anti-rights collective demands, or they’re hunters who have learned their lesson…and probably own a so-called “Assault Rifle”.

Further another HUGE demographic they’re missing is the most rapidly growing one…people who don’t seriously hunt who are buying guns and ammo. They could care less about “Sporting Purposes”, they’re looking for the best tool to defend their lives and the lives of others!

What’s best is we’re all on one side….and Jason is alone pushing a box car.

Any wonder why he disabled the comments on his blog?
