I agree with Jeff that if it wasn’t for the fact that S&W chambered their revolver for the less powerful .45 Schofield, I suspect they might have become the standard for Single-Action revolvers. I really don’t have a lot of love for the SAA pattern guns because loading and unload them is such a slow chore.
Of course there’s a LOT of stress on that lock and front hinge in a break-top.
Still that conversion looks like a LOT of fun!

Parma resident Anthony King, accused of beating his grandparents to death with a pipe wrench early on April 23, was indicted Friday on 11 charges including four counts of aggravated murder.
A pipe wrench? Geeze that’s something I bet almost all of us have. Why don’t you read of more of these murders? Oh, because its not the tool its the criminal that causes the crime!

More violence erupted early Sunday: In four drive-by shootings in South Seattle, gunmen fired more than 60 rounds, riddling four houses and several cars with bullets. Miraculously, no one was hit; a teenage girl dived to her bedroom floor to avoid being shot.
While gang detectives are involved in several of the investigations, and police say at least one suspect is an admitted gang member, detectives do not know what role gang tensions may have played in the violence….After Thursday’s Central Area killing of Justin Ferrari, a 43-year-old father of two, Seattle police dispatched additional patrol officers, along with teams of officers drawn from the department’s SWAT and Anti-Crime teams, to patrol high-crime areas in the East, West and South precincts…He was waiting to cross Broad Street when he heard two gunshots. He looked down and saw blood gushing from his right leg….The suspect was chased down by officers and arrested in the Seattle Center House.
Officers said he told them he is a gang member from the Kent area. He was shooting at another man, also a gang member, who had hit him on the head with a skateboard, according to police. Officers recovered a handgun and the shooting suspect was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of assault.
The list goes on. But we have arrested gang members, drive-by shootings, gang confrontations, and police patrols in the “high crime neighborhoods”. Is this “Gun Violence” or is it “Gang Violence”?
To be anti-gun means that if you leave the gangs alone but chase after guns (in the hands of lawful citizens of course, because going after criminal’s guns would be dangerous), it would save lives and stop crime.

A 12-year-old New York City boy was crushed to death when he got caught in an electronic roll-up gate where he was playing.
Police say Yakim McDaniels suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Hey but NYC has strict gun-control laws! That’s worth something, right?

Sure I have some show pieces and some collectors items that I baby. Working guns are stainless, or covered with hard finishes. “Abuse” to them means don’t hit them with hammers or intentionally mar them. But overall if most of my guns needed to be babied or coddled I wouldn’t really want them around.
I’m especially impressed with the melonite finish on my S&W 1911Sc. It goes in and out of the leather holster, and it gets bounced off of door frames and seat backs all the damn time, and still looks good.
Stainless is even better!
I don’t have any fancy images or fancy verses. And unlike some more unscrupulous people I’m not going to make political hay of today.
Instead I’ll just make sure we all remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this nation, as well as give a heart-felt thanks to all who are currently serving and who would answer the call without question to go in harms way for the freedom we enjoy.

A 14-year-old Indianapolis girl was facing a preliminary charge of murder Sunday after allegedly stabbing her four-year-old cousin to death.
Police said the teenager, who was not identified, stabbed the boy at his grandparents’ Indianapolis apartment at around 11:00pm local time Saturday and then fled the scene, WXIN-TV reported.

A German 16-year-old has become the first person to solve a mathematical problem posed by Sir Isaac Newton more than 300 years ago.
Shouryya Ray worked out how to calculate exactly the path of a projectile under gravity and subject to air resistance, The (London) Sunday Times reported.
The Indian-born teen said he solved the problem that had stumped mathematicians for centuries while working on a school project.
Wow!
Ray’s family moved to Germany when he was 12 after his engineer father got a job at a technical college. He said his father instilled in him a “hunger for mathematics” and taught him calculus at the age of six.
Ray’s father, Subhashis, said his son’s mathematical prowess quickly outstripped his own considerable knowledge.
“He never discussed his project with me before it was finished and the mathematics he used are far beyond my reach,” he said…If that wasn’t enough of an achievement, Ray has also solved a second problem, dealing with the collision of a body with a wall, that was posed in the 19th century.
Both problems Ray resolved are from the field of dynamics and his solutions are expected to contribute to greater precision in areas such as ballistics.
Wow, I don’t think this will be the last we hear of this guy! He has a lot to offer, and has an amazing gift!

Police say they’ve made three more arrests in connection with the beating death of a U.S. Marine who was found unconscious in an apartment complex parking lot outside Atlanta.
Police say 34-year-old Zach Gamble had attended a friend’s birthday party March 24 at an apartment near Smyrna. He was hospitalized for several days before being taken off life support April 8.
I thought if you banned tools, you’d ban murder!
