If we were to implement performance-based employment for airport screeners, passengers would be given the screener jobs, (with a 100% detection and interdiction rate since Sep 12, 2001, it’s hard to fault those numbers!) and TSA employees would have to go back to making meth, picking peanuts out of elephant poop and collecting cans.
He’s got a point there…and while most of the TSA goons look like people who would otherwise be cooking meth, picking cans, or working in a job with a nametag and a hair net….the ele-poop jab made me laugh WICKED HARD.

n the decade since U.S. Rep. John Mica helped create the Transportation Security Administration, the veteran Republican has gone from reluctant father to outright critic.
Few areas of TSA have dodged Mica’s scorn; he has attacked the $7.8 billion agency on issues ranging from wasteful spending to the intrusive pat-downs of passengers by airport-security workers.
But only recently has the Winter Park legislator made progress on his top goal: eliminating the roughly 52,000 TSA screeners nationwide in favor of those hired by private security companies.
I have NOTHING wrong with security. I have issues with government mandates that are direct violations of our rights, cost us a TON of money! (7.8 BILLION???? JESUS Jumped-up CHRIST! FOR WHAT?) all for nothing!
With Private security airlines and airports can compete by having more efficient, less-invasive security. Also Private security are accountable for RESULTS! Your 10-year-old gets his nuts cupped by a high school dropout who later gets busted for child porn charges, meanwhile several terrorists and contraband get through, and nothing is stopped….the whole agency gets scrapped…unless its run by Daddy .Gov, then they ask for more money!
And of course with the freedom to choose your own security, WHY would anybody hire the TSA?

Another example of how safety laws work.
A sixth-grade student was arrested and removed from Whittier Middle School by police yesterday after she attacked a teacher with scissors, school officials said.
Superintendent James Scully said the scissors made contact with the teacher, but did not penetrate the teacher’s clothing.
Police and an ambulance were called to the school, and the student was removed from the building and brought to the police station, Scully said. He said the girl has been suspended for at least the remainder of the school year.
I mean WHY would scissors be allowed in a school! There should be a “Zero Tolerance Policy” on scissors! Also Pencils, and pens! Maybe even books!
See where we’re going? Again this is a violent youth who wanted to hurt a teacher for whatever reason. “Gun Free Zone” and “Zero Tolerance” of various mundane items. Humans are resourceful, we figure stuff out. Taking weapons away does NOTHING, only taking away malicious intent will solve ANYTHING, and humans have been trying to do that for so long I think we can chalk that one out as a loss.
Of course this is just a blogger with an agenda cherry-picking isolated events…
In April of last year, a 17-year-old student at the Haverhill’s St. James Alternative School was charged with attacking a teacher and an aide with scissors.
Ruben Vargas, a student in the TEACH program which serves children with special needs, inflicted a superficial cut on the abdomen of a teacher’s aide and slashed another teacher’s ring finger, school officials said.
Different school, same town. Either something is rotten in the state of Haverhill…or maybe I know what I’m talking about…
Fire broke out on Wednesday
evening on a U.S. Navy nuclear-powered submarine docked at the
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Maine, injuring four firefighters,
officials said.The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the vessel’s
nuclear reactor was not involved. There were no weapons aboard
the sub, which is at the shipyard for system upgrades and
maintenance.The fire started in the “forward compartment” of the
U.S.S. Miami, an attack submarine docked at the Kittery, Maine,
shipyard shortly before 6 p.m. ETFirefighters were still battling the blaze after 10 p.m.,
with equipment brought in from as far away as Boston’s Logan
International Airport, about 60 miles away.“The ship’s reactor was not operating at the time and was
not effected,” shipyard spokeswoman Tami Remick said by
telephone from Kittery.
Even at dock that sounds pretty scary. Glad it wasn’t out to sea!
Why Would anybody need rope? You can’t hunt with it! (OK you can)
The woman, who is the girl’s foster mother, checked with a neighbor whose daughter often played with Katelynn, but he hadn’t seen her. When she returned home Thursday evening, she found the girl hanged from a tree with an old tire swing rope, deliberately, authorities say, by her 14-year-old half-brother who was charged Friday with murder.
The cotton rope was tied in a simple knot around the girl’s neck, but was not a hangman’s noose, said St. Clair County Sheriff Terry Surles. County Coroner Dennis Russell said an autopsy found the cause of death was homicide due to ligature strangulation.
Just another sick story of wanton murder…but it isn’t a “Gun Death”, so who cares?
I got nothing. Still I’d been thinking about doing a post on the taxonomy of gun sizes.
I’m glad I didn’t, as Balloon Goes Up, did a MUCH better job than I could have.
I will say, my best way to classify guns by size is by mode of carry (like “Nightstand Gun” “Belt Carry Gun” “Small Belt Gun”, Pocket Gun”) Or by “brand Name” ie “Baby Glock” “Compact Glock” “Full Size Glock”, or Government, Commander, Officer, Defender, and Long-Slide 1911.
Overall the guns fit in the boxes Balloon made, still in this both the Government 1911 and the Commander are “Full Size”, which is true, my S&W1911Sc isn’t a small gun…but it also isn’t my 5″ Stainless S&W1911!
Ahh the joys of taxonomy, the more you group things the more you grumble about the limits of your tools!

Well this makes a Happy Mother’s Day
Not long before, around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, she’d dropped Clifton “JR” Barkin off at his house after taking him to Wal-Mart to buy flowers and a Mother’s Day card for Paige Parkerson, the mother of Barkin’s two small children.
When she answered the phone, she said Parkerson was on the line.
“Paige told me she killed JR, that he was dead,” Wright said through sobs…Barkin, 22, was stabbed several times and died just after midnight Monday in the backyard of his yellow rental house. Wright said she believes Parkerson expected a more expensive gift, such as jewelry.
Wow, that’s super-classy right there! Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth! Also what a deserving mother, isn’t she?
