Just thought I’d poke some holes in some myths.
A former Philadelphia police officer who shot an unarmed neighbor during a drunken melee outside a baby shower will spend his life in prison after being convicted Thursday of first-degree murder.
The November 2009 slaying of William Panas Jr., 21, by off-duty Officer Frank Tepper stoked tensions in the city’s Port Richmond neighborhood. A fight had erupted outside Tepper’s rowhouse during an evening shower for his daughter. Panas had been drinking with friends and came to investigate.
The young man apparently doubted Tepper’s will to shoot as the officer pointed a gun at his chest.
Panas, perhaps sarcastically, said “He’s not going to shoot anyone,” according to Assistant District Attorney Mike Barry.
Tepper, who had been drinking, proved him wrong.
Of course the antis say that only cops should have guns, and private citizens should be disarmed, because citizens with guns are dangerous. Cops are safe because they’re trained, and have badges.
Now meanwhile people with guns and no training, and no permits are having parties with nothing bad happening, and people with no training and guns will defend their lives today.
And of course most violent crimes will be committed by people involved in the illegal drugs economy.
Carry your gun! It may not be a rabid person you have to defend yourself against!
New Hampshire officials say a teenager walking his dog in Hopkinton was attacked by a coyote and is receiving a course of rabies shots as a precaution.
A Fish and Game wildlife biologist called the Wednesday attack on a human “highly unusual’’ and said they believe the coyote is rabid because of its uncharacteristically aggressive behavior.
Officials believe the same coyote attacked a dog in Hopkinton earlier in the week. The dog survived, but required veterinary care.
Fish and Game officials say the teen, whose name was not released, was walking the family dog in a wooded area near his home when the coyote approached. His dog ran and the coyote attacked the teenager. Officials say the teen punched the coyote repeatedly in the nose until it ran off. The teenager was scratched and possibly bitten by the coyote.
Nobody lives in a coyote-free zone. And certainly not a dog-free zone. Defensive guns aren’t just for criminals, lions and bears.

…At the hospital? The other day SGB had to go the the ER and was disarmed by their misguided laws.
NEW BRITAIN, Conn.—A hospital maintenance worker charged with shooting two supervisors had been assigned extra duties at work and was under a lot of pressure, his son said Thursday.
After the shooting, Victor Valcarcel called his son to tell him what he had done, Victor Valcarcel Jr. said Thursday after his father’s arraignment in New Britain Superior Court on charges of assault and criminal attempt to commit murder. Valcarcel Sr. is being held on $1.5 million bond.
No word if he had a permit, or if this hospital was posted as a “Gun Free Zone”. But frankly, this is moot, as this worker didn’t have his “Murder Permit”, so the idea that other restrictions would have deterred him is purely foolish.
I carry my gun everywhere its legal because there is no place on Earth where you are safe from events like this.
The hospital I frequent is NOT posted, and that saved a Doctor’s life.

The mother of a five-year-old girl could be facing murder charges after the child was found dead in her home with cuts and bruises from her head to her feet.
Candy Flores was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived at her tiny southwest Houston apartment complex, where she lived with 14 others.
Her mother, Rosa Gonzalez, 41, told police she sustained the injuries while falling off the toilet.
The Story stinks, but no matter what there isn’t a “Gun Death” so I guess we can just move on, right?

A bill that would allow citizens more freedom to use deadly force is now on a fast track to Gov. Mark Dayton.
The Senate passed the bill Thursday with bipartisan support in a 40-23 vote after heated debate….Dayton has not said if he will veto the bill, but was concerned with police opposition.
Bi-Partisan AND a wide margin! Again being anti-rights is an extremist position not looked upon sympathetically by rational Americans, Liberal or Conservative. I suspect with a backing like that the Governor would be a fool to veto it, but we have boots on the ground there, so what do those of you from Minnesota think?
Used to be repealing stupid gun laws was just an American thing.
It’s done. After years of repeated attempts, near successes and disappointing letdowns, the federal long-gun registry has finally landed in the dust-bin of history.
As a Canadian, an Albertan, and the representative of a federal constituency that overwhelmingly opposed the former Liberal government’s imposition of the registry on law-abiding firearms owners, it was deeply satisfying to vote on Feb. 15 in favour of ending the long-gun registry. By law, the data collected over the years on owners of non-restricted firearms will be destroyed.
The long-gun registry was ill-conceived from the outset. Under the guise of urban gun control, the Liberals’ registry really only served to penalize ranchers and farmers who required and responsibly used firearms as a tool to do their jobs. Most violent gun crime in Canada does not involve long guns. And in those cases where long guns were used in violent crime, the vast majority of the firearms were unregistered. The registry forced law-abiding citizens to spend time and money to comply with rules that criminals would not follow.
As I said during debate on this legislation, the fact that criminals will not register their firearms goes to the heart of why the long-gun registry has never worked:
When people get a taste of Freedom after finding out they’ve been lied to, they tend to want more.
