Evening Dubstep Appreciation

Can’t sleep so I thought I’d discuss this song:

A great song, and it has just about all the factors why I really dig Dubstep.

First up it has a nice driving beat, and uses some nice funky otherworldly sounds. What’s the point of Electronica if it sounds like regular acoustic music?

Also note the heavy amount of dissonant chords as well as the 6/8 time signature which is common with dubstep. Other Commonalities that are particularly unique to dubstep are progressing the melody with sub-harmonic basslines, and setting the beat by modulating the sound.

This song also gets bonus points for being in a harmonic minor key, and having a video game sample in the mix! (AT 4:13 on this mix, bonus points for the first person to name it correctly, it’s an easy one)

Good stuff, and really neat to listen to if you’ve taken a music theory course or two, or can put your finger on many of the oddities in the mix.

CSGV Brings the Haterade!

CSGV has a response to Joe and the Barnett’s video.

Some lovely quotes:

“Disturbing video of pro-gun extremists mocking tributes to gun violence victims with handgun fire.” Of course Ladd is already a disturbed individual, so he’s not much to judge.

“Heidi HadenoughofWalker Waddell You dummies!!! Candles pay respect for the deaths caused by guns!!!
Well, golly gee, why do we need a police department with all you amazing do gooders out there just itching to pull the trigger without proper training? Show us the facts. Oh, wait. You won’t b/c they are against you. Number of crimes stopped b/c some public citizen had a death weapon on them is extremely low if non existent.”
I don’t even know what this means!

“Jami Regs Nothing like a bunch of beer guzzling, uneducated hillbillies playing with deadly weapons to prove just how ridiculous the 2nd amendment is.” Odd when I get together with other gunnies I find a lot of scientists, engineers, professionals, and family people. Meanwhile the anti-side…well a lot of these types .

“John Donnaruma I noticed that the gun-nuts never mentioned GUN violence, which is common for the anti-gun control people who comment on facebook. They all read from the same script, which makes finding reasonable common ground with others difficult in the fight to prevent gun violence.” I actually agree with this. I don’t care one WIT about “Gun Violence” or “Gun Death”, I care about ALL Violence and ALL Death. That’s why I carry the tools to PREVENT such things, rather than cook the numbers to make my point APPEAR valid. We can’t reach a common ground. Good thing we don’t have to, you keep lighting candles and playing in drum circles, and we’ll keep undoing the damage done by the “Progressive” movement to our rights over the last 40 Years!

I’m sure they’ll have some more hate and rage to spill out, impotence does that to a person. They behave like petulant children because that’s what they chose to be!

They Saw Us!

So when I originally planned our Candlelight Vigil to Stop Violence I didn’t plan it for us. Granted I think we all had fun taking pictures and seeing how others showed their support, plus the SCOPE of the support. Still fun is just fun, my goals were a little more serious. As always I want to give the fence sitters something to think about, specifically which is more rational, lighting a candle, or having the resolve to defend yourself and others against violence, and wanting to extend that right to anybody who is willing and legal.

Also I wanted the anti-rights people to see us. They are constantly saying the gun industry is dying, and gun ownership, and the belief that the 2nd Amendment means the rights to protect yourself from harm and oppression from enemies foreign and domestic is an unpopular belief.

They are liar, and I want them to look at their own lies. Well they have.

Pro-gun activists found yesterday’s tributes to gun violence victims on 1 yr anniv. of #Tucson to be funny.

No, Ladd, I think lighting a candle is a pointless gesture if that’s the extent of your actions. I too lit a candle…but I also carry a gun, because as North Said: “Please defend yourself with something more than hot wax.”

Look at all the images, visit all the sites, Ladd, we’re the future, and you are the past.

But Its OK When the Government Does it!

Just like when Berni Madoff went to prison for running a Ponsi Scheme, and FDR is praised for starting one. Only the Government is allowed to go Fast and Furious

Authorities have arrested three Philippine nationals on charges of violating arms import laws by selling a grenade launcher and other weapons to an undercover officer…Dennis Lao, a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, says that beginning in 2010, the men sold the undercover agent weapons that they exported from the Philippines, including 12 fully automatic rifles, a sniper rifle and rocket propelled grenade. The items were seized when they entered the U.S.

That’s the ATF’s job!

WOW!

Joe and Barron and Janelle swung for the fences and bounced it off the moon!

That’s just awesome!

**UPDATE** Joe gives the course explanation:
An explanation of the stage design is important. The brown target in the distance represents a “bad guy”. The white targets represent innocent people. When scored only hits on the bad guy counted and hits on the innocent were heavily penalized. When the scores have been reported I’ll make anther post. I think I might have won this stage. I had a good time with five A-zone hits, one C-zone hit and no hits on the no-shoot targets.

The instructions to the shooter were:

Start position: Facing up-range holding a candle with both hands. Gun is in a concealed carry state.
Course of fire: Upon signal drop candle, turn, draw, and engage T1 with six rounds. Comstock scoring.

This stage design was to simulate the January 8th 2011 shooting in Tucson. It was this event which the Brady Campaign wanted to bring attention to. This was to stimulate political interest in more gun laws.

Credit for the stage design goes to Bob N. (shown in the video preview above).

“Gun Death” Soy Sausage

Mexico is one of those nations us gunnies talk about a lot. They have ridiculous gun control laws, but the drug cartels still seem to be able to shoot lots of people. Still the REAL danger is Soy Sausage.

Medical officials say five recovering drug addicts died and dozens of others were sickened by soy sausage served for Christmas dinner at a rehabilitation center in western Mexico.

And served in a Health Care facility! The HUMANITY!

Still isn’t it better to be killed by a contaminated tube of imitation meat, or shot by the cartels….I mean one isn’t a “Gun Death”!

Evening Discussion

I’ve been having so much fun seeing the various Candle-light vigil pictures. Nice to see what people chose to photograph and how they composed their shot. What surprised me most of all was how many people had the primary/backup/light carry setup of an M1911 of some sort and a Kahr Arms Polymer of some sort.

Here’s my 5″ Stainless House gun (My primary carry is my Scandium Commander) and my Kahr PM45

Wally mocked up the above picture with his own guns, but in 9mm

Essentially the same guns, but a Norinco M1911 in .38 Super, and a Kahr P9.

Of course Wally and I aren’t the only ones, seems a LOT of people have a little plastic Kahr backing up an all-metal 1911.

I carry a Kahr because I find them to be the smallest, lightest pistols for what they do, and they have a VERY agreeable trigger, and zero extraneous safeties or “Safety features”.

But meanwhile I carry my 1911 because I’m so invested in the gun that it would be foolish, and pointless to switch to something else. But while the 1911 is one of the slimmest pistols on the market, they exposed hammer/beavertail makes the gun longer than it needs to be, and the gun has not only a drop safety but a thumb safety AND a grip safety.

Seems a bit of a contrast, and I was curious how all my other brothers of the Kahr came to settle on that combination.
