Prosecutors are charging a La Habra woman with murder after she allegedly dropped her 7-month-old son from the roof of a parking structure. She is now scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on the new charges of murder and child abuse resulting in death
Yep this wouldn’t happen if we had regular street-level parking…well unless you’re a regular reader of the “Gun Death?” Files, when you know she’d still manage to kill her baby. Still not a “Gun Death” which is relevant to some assholes.

I too rather love me some DeadMau5 and Daft Punk, but my favorite Genre of Electronic is Trance Music. Not as good to dance to, which happens to be a selling point because I hate to dance, and dancing distracts me from the music. But the transitions and movements, as well as often the deep delving into exotic synthetic sound just blows my mind. I thought I’d drop this song from my favorite Electronic group: Infected Mushroom!

So when talking about 1911s often “Filipino 1911s” are the dirty word in the industry. Still whenever I say that I get several people chiming in that their Rock Island Armory 1911s run like a top.
Still the big question is: “What’s your round-count?” And of course the answer is usually self-selecting. People who buy an entry-level 1911 tend not to have the scratch to put a few cases of ammo through it a year. .45 ACP is expensive ammo, so to put several thousands of rounds through the gun is a good deal more than the price of the gun. If you have the cash to spend on that amount of ammo, most people will simply chose to buy a more expensive, and reputable gun.
This goes for all sorts of inexpensive gun brands, such as Taurus, Hi-Point, Cobra, et al. If you’re buying a gun that cheap, you’re buying it because you don’t have a ton of money to kick around, or you’re buying it as a conversation piece. Either way it isn’t going to spend a ton of time at the firing line.
Well Shelly Rae over at Gun Nuts has a look at the gun in her rental counter.
Have I heard of people having issues with them? Of course. Have I seen it? Not once. On top of the gun in the rental case I know several people who own them, and so far four out of four work just fine.
Rental guns get BEATEN to death just like rental cars. Also the pictured gun is their “mil-spec” version, which I’m not a fan of in general, but they do also offer guns with the swept beavertails and modern, dove-tailed sights that I really demand in a 1911.
Again the big thing to take away from this is that 1911 are generally looked at as THE super-fun gun to shoot. It was the gun that got me hooked on shooting. It was the first gun I bought, and its the gun I’m carrying right now. There are other guns that are just as good, and there are good that are cheaper to build, but they are a market force that will likely NEVER go away.
Also one thing I MUST say about the 1911, is that there are very few guns where you will find the sheer volume of holsters, accessories, and equipment available for them, and there are almost no guns in any caliber that are as slim as a 1911. So they make GREAT guns for carry.
So if you don’t have a 1911 in your arsenal, and you get sticker shock when looking at Colts, Springfields, Dan Wesson, and Smith And Wesson, maybe you should have a close look at one of these.

I will say after dealing with North Carolina Bullshit weapon laws, and the TSA Concentration Camp rules, it does feel good to be carrying my biggest gun (S&W1911Sc) and my biggest pocket knife (Which is a satisfyingly large 5″ Ka-Bar Dozier folder), and my CRKT Gekkota is back on my Keys (I could probably sneak it through the retard patrol, but I love to too much to chance it being stolen by the Sky (butt) Pirates).
So yeah, there’s that.

A naked madman went on a stabbing spree in a Manhattan apartment building Tuesday, wounding four people and killing one, cops and neighbors said.
Good thing that the naked man didn’t have a gun…and none of his victims were armed! Another victory for the antis!

As much as I love to collect and shoot Mosin Nagant rifles, I do NOT keep them around as practical rifles. This may be selling some of my workhorse guns rather short, as they are reasonably accurate rifles, plenty powerful, and while a bit of an oddball caliber in America, soft point hunting ammunition can be found with little trouble.
Still they’re clunky rifles compared to other more elegant guns, and as the above video shows the safeties are ugly to operate. Furthermore on one of the few occasions I was fiddling with the safety on my Mosin, I had the entire bolt disassemble in my hand. Dunno if this was a fluke, but it turned me off on ever using the gun like any other rifle. I think if I was ever in need to lug one of my Mosins in the woods I’d simply load the magazine with 4 rounds, and simply ride the bolt over the magazine and close it on an empty chamber, and take my chances racking a round into the chamber before I fire.
That being said the mod jobs listed in the video seem like good ideas if that’s what you’re going to do, all the best if you don’t end up damaging the original parts of the gun. The best mods on military guns are ones where you can quickly return the gun to stock configuration.
Also somebody in the comments mentions Timney Triggers which appears to solve two major problems of the Mosin Nagant rifle. The silly safety (by adding a cross-bolt safety) and the ugly trigger pull. And it appears that no modifications are necessary, so the gun isn’t devalued in the upgrade!

This year I wasnât able to get around to setting up a table for Ceasefire Oregon, but I did at least have a car for Ceasefire Oregon in the Peace Train, in the parade. The âPeace Trainâ is a mock train engine, colorfully decorated, behind which trail a number of wooden train cars, each decorated with the name of a local peace and non-violence organization or chapter. I painted and pushed the car for Ceasefire Oregon.
He even posted a video:
You’ll note that most of the cars have close to a half-dozen supporters pushing away and waiving to the crowd. The Brady Campaign’s Million Mom March Chapter managed two supporters, and ‘ol Baldr was by his lonesome.
To add more insults he added this:
I didnât attach a sign well, and it fell off just before that video was taken. Luckily, a volunteer (Neil) carried it alongside at that point.
Dunno if “Neil” is a Ceasefire volunteer, or just somebody who felt bad for poor Baldr and his plywood train car that was falling apart.
BTW he has a video of the whole parade and the above video is the entirety of the “Peace Train”. What strikes me the most is the pure inanity of it all.
Now we have things like the North Coast Blogmeet, and the New England Blog shoot, and the gun blogger rendezvous, not to mention things like the NRA conventions, have HUGE turnouts. and note that some of these events are just social gatherings that also happen to celebrate guns, and our Second Amendment rights. I will say I’ve seen several people become new shooters, and avid supporters for our cause after a trip to the range in New Hampshire at the Northeast blog shoot. I’ve also seen several people buy guns that they first handled at the shoot. (I’d like to join the ranks of that soon).
Meanwhile did anybody even think twice as that plywood train roll by? I’m betting that I personally have given that silly train more attention than any of the people who sat around and watched that parade.
This is the best Joyce and Brady can do. Still they continue to exist so we mustn’t give an inch until they are as irrelevant as the Flat Earth believers, or the KKK.
Well I again picked the screening line with just the metal detector, and some people were pushed through, but others were going through the nude-o-scanner. My number was picked, and I opted out.
First up it wasn’t as bad as I had expected, but I’ll note that first, I’m Weer’d, and my boundaries are likely broader than most when it come to unessisary contact. Second I was wearing loose-fitting shorts, and I wear fairly thick cotton boxer-briefs which make the really crude inside the waistband search a bit better. Last, and this was a big one, my screener was a total gentleman who was very aware at how inappropriate (tho maybe no how unnecessary) this all was.
I had a few ideas of verbal abuse I would give these creeps as they plied their horrible trade, but this guy was so polite, and I wanted to pay attention to his actions so I didn’t miss anything.
I wanted to thank him for being professional, but admonish him for being part of the problem, and remind him he SHOULD be wearing an OSHA radiation badge. But after he swabbed his gloves for chemical traces he said from a distance that we were done, and I could be on my way.
Oh well, they should be ashamed of themselves, and all cellphones off for takeoff.

Investigators are now building their case against a boy, 13, arrested in connection with the death of his 9-month-old baby sister.
Officers were called to a metro hospital on Aug. 16 after doctors said the baby’s injuries were not consistent with an explanation given by the girl’s parents…Crystian Rivera told police he was playing video games when his baby sister fell and started to cry. Rivera told officers that he became angry and frustrated when his character in the video game he was playing was killed. He picked up the girl and shook her, according to a police report.
Yep, good thing we have that federal restriction that prevents people under 18 from buying guns, because it keeps those bad seeds unarmed.
Not a “Gun Death” so I guess it doesn’t count for the running tally used to promote gun control!
