WOW!

I just watched a delivery man dump a large liquid nitrogen cylinder off the back of a delivery truck. Thankfully the cylinder was an empty one we were returning to the vendor, so there was neither an explosion, rocket-propelled canister, or a massive spill of subzero liquid. Still these cylinders weigh over 100lbs and the driver attempted to stop the cylinder once it started falling. Ended up flipping him onto our loading dock.

He didn’t appear to have been injured, and he was damn lucky at that.

Its a good thing somebody is giving these drivers a job, because besides TSA air-rapist, I can’t imagine many other jobs some of these idiots can do.

The REAL Blacklist

While its reputation has vastly preceded it, and there has been much confusion about the REAL author of the Gun Blog Blacklist.

North has put up a link and a snazzy logo, if you love freedom and think Drama Llamas should go to bed without supper, drop him a comment and get your own blog added.

Nice work North. Turning troll-poop into gold! 🙂

A Final Reason To Repeal the NFA

So we all know the National Firearms Act, its a load of crap. First up its about 90% Numbers Game, Feds picked a number out of the sky and applied it to law. They had to edit it a bit on, say, barrel length, because they had just sold a bunch of re-arsenaled M1 Carbines who’s barrels had be recrowned to shorter than 18″, so suddenly the law went saying that if you had a 17″ barrel on your rifle you were a federal felon and needed to go to prison if you didn’t pay a $200 tax stamp (on a gun you maybe spent $20 on) to suddenly 17″ is actually an overly cautious length to shorten a barrel to.

Barrel diameter they just picked a nice round number. 0.50″ Anything smaller is perfectly ok, anything bigger is a Destructive Device. Well except for guns the feds think are “Sporting Cartridges”, like say .600 Nitro Express. Because you know that the Shot heard ’round the world was actually aimed at a sizable deer, and accidentally hit a British Soldier in full dress uniform. “Sporting Purposes” is what the 2nd Amendment is all about. Don’t believe me, ask any “Progressive” lawyer!

Now Sound Suppressors are interesting things. They do actually accomplish something. But they accomplish the same something that the muffler on your car does, and those are mandated for public roads because loud cars make people unhappy. Loud guns can make people deaf, especially if you fire them off in an enclosed space, like inside your car, or inside your home. You know, situations where people are often attacked. Suppressors just make good sense and good manners, and the NFA not only makes them a pain in the ass to buy, but it makes them prohibitedly expensive. You can buy suppressors in Europe for what amounts to less than $100 US Dollars. I’ve seen listings under $50. Now these might not be as nice as the $600-$1000 units we have around here, but with the $200 Tax stamp and the massive waiting period people don’t look at cheap suppressors the same way they look at cheap magazines. If a magazine wears out, just throw it away and buy another. If a suppressor wears out you’re out a lot of money, and its going to take you a long time to get another. That just needs to end.

The last one that isn’t bullshit is full-auto guns. There is a VERY distinct difference between full-auto guns that are restricted under the NFA and their semi-auto cousins that a kosher for civilian sales without tax stamps and national registries. But have a look here:

Not that’s a 5.56x45mm M4 Carbine. The 5.56 Round came into favor because the 7.62x51mm M14 was difficult to control on full-auto. Many of the 7.62x51mm FALs had their full-auto sears removed before issuing to troops. The solution was to take a proven cartridge and replace it with a much weaker one that was easier to control on full-auto.

I frankly don’t see why full-auto fire was so necessary. Why not just teach the troops to quickly aim and fire in semi-auto, and give them a full-power cartridge so more of those hits count for keeps?

I dunno about my full-auto friends, but even if I could buy full-auto guns, I wouldn’t be very interested in them. Maybe I’d buy a Full-auto FAL just because, but frankly I don’t think it would spend much time on full-auto, as I just think semi-auto precisely aimed shot. Hell Even VPC agrees that full-auto isn’t all that big a deal.

most experts agree that semiautomatic fire is more accurate—and thus more lethal—than automatic fire.

When you’re using lethal force to defend your life, that’s the whole damn point!

So yeah, I don’t see anything on the NFA that’s a problem. I’m not 100% familiar with the paperwork and tax stamps, but I’d imagine the explosives can simply be handled by the ATF the same way they handle industrial explosives which appears to be working about as well as anybody can expect.

The rest of the stuff. Set it FREE! Even if the worst happens and some of them fall into criminal hands, I don’t see how its any worse than anything else.

Repeal the NFA!

“Gun Death” Charger

Cellphone chargers can drain power and add to your electric bill…they can also break up a family.

A judge has ordered that William Ambrose Fenwick, 22, of Lexington Park remain jailed without bond on charging papers alleging he choked his children’s mother with a telephone charger’s cord on a bed last month, until their daughter started screaming.

Why would anybody own a cell charger? They are nothing but deadly weapons of domestic abuse!

Play Me Out, Chevis Regal

Stopped by the Liquor store on my way home from Vermont. Picked up among other things a bottle of Chevis Regal. Now its hardly the worlds greatest scotch, but its tasty and relatively inexpensive. Makes for good sipping scotch, and if I feel the need to drop in some ice cubes or a dash of bitters I won’t feel like I’m adulterating some good single-malt.

Also on an interesting side note its allegedly the drink that Fat Teddy Kennedy was smashed on when he rolled his Delmont 88 into Poucha Pond, killing Mary Jo Kopechne.

Still whenever I think of Chevis Regal, I think of this song:

Red Pants and the Sugarman in, the Temple Street gloom,
drinkin’ chivas regal in a four dollar room,
just another dead soldier in a powder blue night,
sugarman says baby everything’s alright,
goin’ downtown down downtown.

“Gun Death” Total Scumbag

Not much else to add, but this guy was a fucking scumbag!

A Santa Ana man was indicted Thursday in connection with the beating death of an 18-month-old girl and abusing a 3-month-old girl who suffered fractured ribs, authorities said.

Juan Carlos Aguilar, 25, allegedly squeezed the ribs of the 18-month-old on July 9 while he was caring for her.

read the whole story if you want the details….I kinda wish I hadn’t read it.

Still think “Gun Death” is a valid metric? Under that filter this horrible crime doesn’t count.

Space Marxists

Having trouble sleeping, so I decided to do a little tab-clearing, and read this article many people have taken a shine to.

All I could think of was this:

The soapbox of The Day the Earth Stood Still was the fear of Nuclear total-war. I can relate to that fear. World War II had just closed with the dropping of two atomic bombs, it was natural to assume that any time the US felt challenged we’d simply drop more nukes until we got our way, or, more likely, the planet died.

Now I’m not 100% familiar with the Hollywood Blacklist of the 1950s which supposedly was created to shame Communists and Communist-Sympathizers. I have no idea what the real significance of hiring blacklisted Sam Jaffe as one of the supporting cast was, but it seems to be mentioned in almost every article written about this film. (And given that it is probably the Citizen Kane of Sci-Fi films, there are quite a few).

Still Kaatu’s speech, and the overall theme of the film reeks of totalitarianism, and in the 20th Century (and seemingly going strong in the 21st) the leading totalitarianism was Marxism. The ultra-smart, advanced, and totally benevolent Alien comes to earth in an atomic spacecraft with a robot that can crush skulls and melt tanks, warning people that if they don’t give up nuclear weapons the entire planet will be destroyed….but they are a peaceful race without need for weapons…

The scary part of the speech is its said and presented without the slightest hint of irony. Whoever wrote that, and certainly the director, must have been true believers to not notice that Klaatu was BRUTALLY violent on his stay on Earth, and the races of “The Other Worlds” must indeed have weapons if they can threaten to destroy a planet…not to mention Gort himself.

This article seems about the same. “Super Benevolent Aliens” will wipe out humanity. Not one bit of irony at all.

This of course is no different than Terrestrial Marxists, where one submits to the party, or one is “Re-educated”, which may or may-not include a bullet to the head.

Of course such childish brutality is passed off as “Enlightenment”, and “Progressive”.

Not on my watch, Klaatu!

Last Bit on Butthurt

Unless I hear something REALLY juicy, but I think Mr. Farago got a bump in hits (but maybe not the kind he was hoping for, hopefully), and a lot more people saw what goes on behind the scenes.

One interesting additive is that there has been a bit of talk about the blatant theft of work written by Tam, and it appears that Robert has apologized for stealing work and has removed the offending piece from his site, or something similar (Haven’t checked) What’s neat about this is I’ve heard several stories of people emailing Mr. Farago about poor attribution, or blatant plagiarism, and getting nothing but a snotty response to the tune of “It’s my blog, I’ll do what I want!”.

Funny how people’s actions change when they know they’re being watched. Reminds me of Bill Clinton apologizing to the US Press Corps for cheating on his wife (this time)…yeah.

So this was briefly touched upon in this week’s Vicious Circle, but I thought I’d expand on what I suspect started all of this.

Honestly I’d forgotten, but I was surprised to hear I might be in the middle of all of this. I made a post a while back talking about taking a vacation of all anti-gun blogs. It was a neat little idea coined by Chris from Ak, given that about 90% of anti-gun blog traffic is from Gun bloggers doing opposition research, or simply scrapping for a fight. The idea was, take a week off and watch their traffic and comments die to nothing. As you can see I also said I’d include Robert Farago’s blog because of his poor behavior, and while he’s bad about linking pro-second Amendment blogs, he’s religious about linking anti-rights blogs.

Seemed to make sense to me, and a few others agreed.

Now what hasn’t been talked about was how poorly the Boycott went. I did it for about a week with one day where I peeked in to a few sites to see if it was working. It didn’t, from all data I could find I could give a generous estimate that about 50 people decided to do something else. Most just stayed and did what they wanted because they didn’t know, or didn’t care.

Only person who actually NOTICED was MikeB302000, and not because his traffic or comments went any lower, but because somebody said his name, and “Boycott” in the same breath, and as both a “Progressive” and an idiot, never EVER miss a chance to play the passive-aggressive victim card!

Like most things Mr. Bonomo says, nobody cared. Its starting to look at lot like he sent my link to Mr. Farago and that’s the basis of the so-called “Black List”.

Yep a failed boycott turns into a “Blacklist”. Drama Llama and trolls all the way up!

Now I don’t link to Mr. Farago’s site because he’s an asshole, a thief, and somebody who is only writing a blog for money and treasure, and has little care about the blogging community, or the future of gun ownership or sports. He just wants hits, ad money, and industry samples. Feeding trolls generates controversy which generates traffic which is $$$. Speaking out against fundamental rights, or attacking members of the community generates controversy which generates traffic which is $$$.

He’s welcome to do all of that (and get sued if somebody can claim damages), overall he doesn’t want to bother with me personally, and he didn’t have much to say for himself when we met personally. So fuck him. He can do what he wants, I don’t care. I won’t link him, and I’ll point out his poor behavior to all who do link him whom I regularly read.

You wanna a blacklist, well there’s a blacklist right here!

That’s funny right there!

Home Again

First up, My little Niece knows me well. She came up to my tent first thing this morning, still in her pajamas wanting me to see the skunk.

I wonder if this is the guy from the other night. He was kinda bummed about his incarceration. The camp takes them down the road to the woods and lets them go. I suspect its close enough that they simply walk back over the next few nights.

Had a nice drive home, and listened to the latest Vicious Circle. FYI when I’m listening to a recorded VC that I’m not on, like last night, I find myself talking to the radio as if I was on Skype.

Good show, and Mrs. Weer’d had a good chuckled every time Dennis did a Dr. Rockso impersonation.

So now I’m home. The truck is unpacked, but I have a mountain of laundry to do and bags to unpack. I’m gonna take it easy for a bit!
