Schadenfreude

I’m not a fan of the blog The Truth About Guns. I’ll just leave it at that, but it DOES have its shining moments.

If you know the right place to look (and let’s face it we all do) you might find a very amusing, and textbook example of Narcissistic Rage.

I’m laughing on the inside…you can tell because I’m also laughing on the outside!

Lazy Evening

Dinner is cooking in the crock pot, nasty snowstorm is coming. Told the boss to only call me if my services are needed. Gonna be lots of shoveling. So I’m taking it easy tonight.

If anybody wants some sport, found an anti-gun blog for Ceasefire Oregon, sofar I sent a few comments his way, and he didn’t feel the need to publish them. There are no comments on the whole blog. I wonder if he’ll publish any.

The content is exactly what you’d expect. Bigotry and misinformation masquerading as human sympathy.

Internets 101

So in the internets there are things called Trolls. They are the horrible offspring to the “Everybody gets a Cookie” Self-esteem model. They are disfunctional, often mentally ill, and stupid members of society that have nothing positive to add, but they have been taught that they are special and need to be recognized.

They can’t do anything smart or good, so they strive to do things stupid and bad on an epic level, and get recognized that way.

By our friendly and inclusive nature, and our desire to be educated and informed (much like many of use were educated and informed ourselves) we are excellent prey for their stupidity.

So here’s today’s lesson. When a troll makes an obvious mistake he WANTS you to correct him, and by your correction acknowledge his wretched existance.

When he makes the same stupid mistake repeatedly he is setting out to disrupt discussion. When you correct him repeatedly you are saying you like trolls.

I will close the lesson with some homework. How do trolls positively effect your blog and the goals of your blog?

I will close with this statement. I had (past tense) a few trolls who frequented this blog. I asked the above question, and decided to route their comments to the spam trap where they are treated the same way as ads for knock-off handbags and chep sunglasses.

Class dismissed!

How Freedom Control Works

Bob has a great story up this morning. Go read it. All read? Well it reminded me of a story I read last night but had forgotten about due to other blogging I felt more pressing. Here’s the story.

Electronic systems that track sales of the cold medicine used to make methamphetamine have failed to curb the drug trade and instead created a vast, highly lucrative market for profiteers to buy over-the-counter pills and sell them to meth producers at a huge markup.

An Associated Press review of federal data shows that the lure of such easy money has drawn thousands of new people into the methamphetamine underworld over the last few years.

So from Bob’s story and mine it seems that the Methamphetamine trade isn’t really slowing down much, despite pretty obnoxious controls. We all now have to show our driver’s license when buying decongestants, and sign a piece of paper legally swearing we’ll be good boys and girls. Unlike say pain killers or fever reducers or stool softeners, where you can buy from just any store during normal business hours, these drugs can only be purchased from the pharmacy counter. This is not only a pain, but can be a royal pain, as well as a pointless violation of privacy. My favorite story was cumming down with a THUMPING sinus headache on a Sunday Afternoon. Went to the local pharmacy…and found that the Pharmacists go home at 2pm on a Sunday. Tough Shit for Weer’d Beard, I just had to take lots of ibuprofen to mask the problem rather than treating it.

To what end? There is still lots of Meth on the streets, and now there is a criminal class just supplying the labs with the restricted products we need.

This is no different with the total ban on drugs like Marijuana or Cocaine, or Heroin, nor for restrictions on firearms in places like Chicago, DC, NYC, or LA.

And in the end this decongestant registry was made to curb people cooking Meth…WHICH IS ALREADY A CRIME!

Is there any surprise it didn’t work?

Blog Dinner Anecdote

So I was hanging out at the Northeast Blogger Dinner and talking with Wally about sundry gun issues. I mentioned that the shirt I was wearing was new and from LL Bean and while very soft and comfortable it also conceals my shoulder rig very well. (Product Plug here)

Wally realized he hadn’t really seen me in this rig before and asked if he could check it out to see how it prints.

So discreetly he circled me, and then while behind me gentled bumped my left side where the holster rides.

His response: “Very Nice!”

Now the magic was that while he was behind me TOTWTYTR comes around the corner and sees Wally bump me and give his approval.

HIS Response: “I do NOT want to know what you guys are doing!!!!”

Man I had fun that night! Wish I could have made it to the Sig Tour. next time fer-sure!

“Gun Death” batter-up!

We obviously need stronger controls on deadly weapons!

On Thursday afternoon, a man was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for beating a man to death with a baseball bat.

Why would anybody need a baseball bat? You can’t use them for hunting! You don’t need them for self defense.

Of course I’m using the words of the anti-rights people who ignore this story because only “Gun Deaths” matter to them.

Reality Vs. “Common Sense”

So a while back Brady Board Member and Joyce Foundation Puppet Joan Peterson made an odd statement. Somebody asked Joan what was her end goal for “Gun Death” that would lead her to proclaim “Mission Accomplished”. Her answer was the letter “O”. Kinda strange but we got the message, well now she’s clarified it a lot more.

A friend of mine on Facebook, when reading one of my posts about the tragic shooting in Arizona, said this: “More than zero is too many”. Yes indeed. More than zero gun deaths is too many.

Yep, that’s EXACTLY what she meant. Let’s see where she’s going with this.

What we also know about the gun and the ammunition is that Jared Loughner had 2 ammunition clips each holding more than 30 rounds. He was attempting to load the second clip when he was tackled by some people at the scene. A witness thought it only took about 10 seconds to shoot off the first round. It needs to be said here that if the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 had not been allowed to lapse in 2004, this type of high capacity ammunition clip would not have been legal to import or sell in gun stores. That would have made it more difficult for Loughner to get his hands on these clips.

ummm

There’s my FAL, you’ll see that in the well is a 20 round magazine, what you can’t clearly see is the brown paper bag behind it FILLED with more 20 round FAL Magazines.

Massachusetts has an Assault Weapons Ban, the FAL is considered an “Assault Weapon” in its standard configuration. This gun does not have the threaded barrel or flash hider, so it is ban compliant. (Furthermore if this gun had been in Massachusetts before 1994 it would be legal even with Flash hider, muzzle threads, rifle grenade launcher, or bayonet lug) and the magazines are all pre ’94 so also legal.

Same goes for Glock 19s and 30 round magazines. Neither are allowed in Mass, but pre-ban examples exist galore. Without confiscation, a re-boot of the ’94 AWB would do close to nothing. So Joan is again full-of-shit.

If you are not a criminal or a prohibited person, you will not be giving up your freedoms.

Sorry Hon, either you are completely illogical and out-of-touch with reality, or you’re simply lying to support your gun-banning and confiscating agenda. Both are believable to me, and since Joan doesn’t want to discuss or debate the issue, we’ll never know for sure. Also because she’s such an illogical/dishonest person she’ll never achieve her goals.

Sorry but your “Common Sense” doesn’t mesh with reality.

What Will the Aftermath Be?

So in the wake of Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford’s shooting many are wondering what the political fallout of this will be. Of Course I’ve talked about the dirtbags making political hay of this. Of course Carolyn McCarthy is up to her standard tricks.

McCarthy today will officially announce she is working on a bill targeting the high-capacity ammunition clips the gunman allegedly used in the shooting

Being a one-trick pony, this move isn’t surprising in the least. Also given that she keeps warming over the same stale gun bans, you’d think she’d learn the difference between a clip and a magazine by now. Of Course Congresswoman McCarthy’s previous blood-dance might be one of the better examples of bigotry and ignorance.

Sebastian also reports that one of his local Pols is pushing legislation that attacks the 1st Amendment. Authoritarians hate EVERY amendment on the Bill of Rights, not just the 2nd one.

Of course Representative Giffords is well known as a second Amendment supporter. Some have expressed concern that if she recovers and turns against the cause what harm it might be. I wonder how possible that might be. From what I gather (correct me if I’m wrong) but the Congresswoman owns and carried a Glock 19, the same model of pistol she was shot with. Also as a general rule modern-day 2nd Amendment supporters tend to be more rational and logical than, say Congresswoman McCarthy. Still she is recovering from a very serious injury, I do hope she makes a successful recovery.

The most amazing thing of the day is this interview with the father of the young girl killed.

The Money Quote is “in a free society we’re going to be subjected to people like this; I prefer this to the alternative.” Wow, I’m impressed at the courage it takes to say that, given that his Daughter hadn’t been dead for 24 hours at the time.

Also there is talk about Legislators taking steps to carry guns on their person for protection., and it appears that a lawful carrier was at the scene. but since the crowd had already tacked the shooter he simply helped restrain him and kept his firearm in his holster.

So overall I think the world is reacting to this in the logical way, and not lending credibility to the monsters who feel this needs to be exploited, often to illogical ends.

Bigotry Loves Tragedy

I mentioned yesterday of people dancing in the blood that is flowing from the shooting in Arizona. Anti-gun people are blaming guns, left-wing people are blaming the right, right wing people are blaming the left. Authoritarians are blaming libertarians, Libertarians are blaming authoritarians. Seems that if you’re bigoted you look for any whim to support what is unsupportable.

Hell Fred Phelps blames the Homosexuals and abortion. Try to wrap your mind around that one.

From all I can gather this guy was just plain crazy, and was a total loner. He wasn’t a member of ANY groups, PERIOD, because he was so anti-social. He also likely won’t be able to grouped together with like individuals because he was so mentally ill that his thoughts and ideas don’t match anybody but his own twisted views. Think about it this way: Charles Manson tattooed a swastika in his forehead, but if somebody as menially dysfunctional had been alive in Nazi Germany he likely would have been one of the first people executed in the camps

One interesting thing I’ve read sofar is that the attacker was tacked as he attempted to reload his Glock.

Good on these people, its a brave move to take a stand against an armed attacker, but also one must consider how many may have been killed if nobody had resisted.
