Some tales just seem to repeat themselves over the ages an estranged wife bludgeons and stabs her husband to death.
McPeak’s estranged wife, Danielle Vinese McPeak, 23 of Christiansburg, and her boyfriend, Don Nathan Walker II, 25, of Havelock, N.C., were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Walker was also charged with burglary with intent to commit a felony.
McPeak was bludgeoned and stabbed to death, according to preliminary autopsy results.
Maybe it’s because I’m a geek, but my mind went to a classical play. These tales have been told since man was man, does anybody think that King Agamemnon or the late Mr. McPeak would be any more dead had their wives had access to the a firearm?
The human body is not magical, a stone, or a tree branch, or a knife, be it flint or steel, will end a human life just as easily as a gun if one has the will to use it. Why do the anti-freedom pro-ignorance people focus only on the tool, when humanity has remained at a constant despite our tools changing so much over history?

Again Via Jake is an update about the confession.
Getting ready to Head home from Maine, and I picked up my S&W642 that has been my carry gun all week, checked the chambers (all 5 loaded ) and dropped the gun in its holster and popped it in my pocket.
This act in Massachusetts is Illegal thanks to our “Safe Storage” laws (which are unconstitutional, but still on the books as far as I know), which requires all guns to be locked up and dissasembled whenever they are not in “direct use”.
Nope I just left a loaded gun unsecured on the bookshelf beside where I slept.
Why? Well #1 all 3 people who are in this house know I carry and know to leave a gun alone unless they need to use it.
#2 all guests we had know the same, and didn’t get within 100 feet of my gun without my supervision.
#3 I feel no need to fiddle with a loaded gun unless I have an Immediate need to.
I stay a relatives homes with small children. There I make sure to secure my gun when its not on my person (one reason why I like revolvers, you can load and unload them all day without ill effects on the ammo or gun)
This is common sense gun control, by actually letting me use my common sense in how I handle my gun.
You see I COULD comply with the Mass laws by running a trigger lock through the trigger guard of a loaded gun. This would comply with the law, and also runs a high risk of negligently discharging the firearm.
Of course if my judgment is bad and somebody is harmed because I left a loaded gun around where people might play with it I should be held liable.
Of course this is because of my negligence, not because of the gun. This is no different than leaving a pot of boiling water on the edge of a stove where curious fingers could find it. Or leaving household chemicals unsecured. Or better yet putting antifreeze in an old Margarita mix bottle, or transmission oil in a gatorade bottle (ask me about that one!).
You see, those who talk about “common sense gun control” have little interest in that. Just banning guns and extinguishing rights.
Seems the other side seems to talk a lot about “Compromise” Lawdog said it best.
I hear a lot about “compromise” from your camp … except, it’s not compromise.
Let’s say I have this cake. It is a very nice cake, with “GUN RIGHTS” written across the top in lovely floral icing. Along you come and say, “Give me that cake.”
I say, “No, it’s my cake.”

This time you take several bites — we’ll call this compromise the Clinton Executive Orders — and I’m left with about a tenth of what has always been MY DAMN CAKE and you’ve got nine-tenths of it.
Then we compromised with the Lautenberg Act (nibble, nibble), the HUD/Smith and Wesson agreement (nibble, nibble), the Brady Law (NOM NOM NOM), the School Safety and Law Enforcement Improvement Act (sweet tap-dancing Freyja, my finger!)
I’m left holding crumbs of what was once a large and satisfying cake, and you’re standing there with most of MY CAKE, making anime eyes and whining about being “reasonable”, and wondering “why we won’t compromise”.
I’m done with being reasonable, and I’m done with compromise. Nothing about gun control in this country has ever been “reasonable” nor a genuine “compromise”.
Seems that their idea of “Compromise” is not taking all our rights all at once. But if you had any doubts.
Listen up everyone. I am not going to answer any questions about what “I” or “we” will give up. That is not how this is going to work. I have said before that I, personally, speak for myself. I am not in a position to make policy. I can offer my opinions and forward ideas to people who have more power than I. I am not asking what you all are going to “give up” either. I am talking about ideas here and I am expressing mine. I am allowing comments and respond which is more than most people on “my side” do. I enjoy some of the give and take of ideas. I am not using my blog to negotiate with my readers. So I hope you will all forgive my rudeness but you keep asking me that and I keep answering. Perhaps if you couch your question a different way and raise some ideas worth considering without wanting me to say very specifically what I will “give up”. If you and I end up at a negotiating table in Washington D.C., then we can talk about what each side will give up. Do you speak for the NRA? Can you say what you will “give up” and then assume it will represent the entire NRA leadership and Board and all of its’ members and all gun owners? And, by the way, I am not in favor of a national shall issue concealed carry law at this point. It has nothing to do with an exchange for background checks however. More on this later.
Joan Peterson has more guts than anybody in the anti-freedom pro-ignorance cabal. She’s not asking us what we’re willing to give up, nor is she ever going to offer concessions on her side. But she will say what she wants to take from us, and constantly asks why we aren’t willing to give up our rights (meanwhile ignoring or deleting any comments that may explain why her grand schemes will accomplish nothing but getting more innocent people killed), and of course you’ll note that she appears to be directly opposed to just about every bit of gun rights there are.
She won’t speak for the Brady Campaign, but she also won’t speak for herself. Also seems that there isn’t a lick of difference between her expressed opinions, and the opinions of the Joyce Foundation and the Brady Campaign for whom she works for.
I think we all know who she speaks for, and what her idea of “Compromise” is.

Following what police described as “years of arguing”, the two neighbours, aged 45 and 49, got into a heated discussion over who was responsible for removing snow from the joint entrance to their properties, authorities said.
The 45-year-old then whacked his older neighbour over the head with the shovel.

“He was so badly injured that he died on the spot,” Lutz Flassnoecker, a police spokesman, said.
I must be lucky, often times we’ll help each other with common areas on my block. I’ll often shovel the bottom of my neighbor’s driveway just because its not much more effort from doing my own. If that neighbor beats me out after a storm, I’ll find part of my driveway shoveled. My other neighbor has a snow blower, and he’ll often do the whole line of sidewalks while he’s out.
I don’t ask, but we might all be carrying guns too. The Pro-Ignorance, Anti-Freedom types might say that a group of people shoveling snow, packing pistols is far more dangerous than two men, unarmed shoveling snow.

Rumors of Hillary Clinton to Step Down as Secretary of State
No idea about the whole Bill Richardson thing (isn’t he under indictment?) but I’ve been Predicting the whole Clinton thing for a while now. The claim “To spend more time with her family” is just as legitimate as Sarah Palin’s reason for stepping down as Governor.
Both these women want to run for President….the problem is that one of them might win….
But I do laugh at them!
Oh and my wife shows me pictures of other people’s babies. So I guess its not all Farmville. 😀
Pet Peeve of mine. Hearing people say if you use X gun for self defense, or if you use X ammo, or modify your gun, and at some point you shoot somebody in self-defense the DA will hang you for the gun you used.
How stupid is this? If the gun works, and the ammo works, there shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re defending your life in court because of a defensive gun use, hire a good Lawyer. Ask around and get the name of a lawyer who specializes in gun laws and keep their card in you wallet.
I personally don’t carry handloads, not because I’m worried about prosecution, but I know the ammo company has done a LOT more work optimizing that load and bullet combination than I could ever likely do. If I had a gun I otherwise liked but it had a magazine disconnect, or a DA trigger with an extraneous safety, I’d have no qualms about removing or disabling features that make the gun more dangerous, or might allow it to fail when my life was on the line.
My J-Frames are no-locks, but if I had one with a safety lock that I carried (especially a light-weight model) I would certainly glue the lock in place, or remove it.
I feel that I can explain these reasons why I’d do this to a jury of my peers, I imagine a lawyer who knows guns would do even better.
I’d much rather carry the best gun and ammo for the situation than compromising because I was concerned about a lawsuit.
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6!
I do not like Obamacare, or its father, Romney Care. I don’t trust the government to deliver the mail on time, or protect people from terrorist attacks, nor do they do a very good job at keeping sidewalks in good condition, and the roads clear. The last place I want big daddy Gov is standing over my hospital bed.
Hotair points out the use of “end-of-life care” in a recent NYT article.
Under the new policy, outlined in a Medicare regulation, the government will pay doctors who advise patients on options for end-of-life care, which may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment.
Now I’m all for alternative care, as well as terminal care, and I’m even in favor of “Doctor Assisted Suicide” euthanasia. On a personal note, my mother is a Nurse, and has seen enough people in agony as their bodies fail around them, and overall does not want to be resuscitated or kept on life support for most anything short of a full recovery.
I have also seen people squander their last good days on this Earth with chemotherapy sickness that did little but add weeks of sickness at the end of their lives.
I certainly think people should have lots of options when it comes to living their lives. I don’t like government sticking their nose in an requiring people to seek treatment they don’t want. I also don’t like the idea of government giving incentives for Doctors to push “End of Life Care”. First up, why the incentive? Would a Doctor not otherwise recommend this course of action? If So Why Not?
Also why the incentive for this? I think we all know. Dead senior citizens are cheaper than living ones, no matter how healthy they are. This is a budgetary action. Now think about this, what if a terminal patient wants to extend their life just a bit longer at great government expense? Maybe they have reasons. There is a major event they want to see, like the birth of a family member, or a big celebration. What if they have hopes to be that one-in-a-million cases where the treatment works better than ever expected.
Do you think the government will take kindly to this? Call it end-of-life care or Death Panels, in the end the government is the last thing we need looking after our health.
