So looks like a ton of people took this test., and it appears that a LOT of people who read my blog, and who I know personally have a social disorder according to the test. A LOT of you social deviants I’ve spent extended periods of time with in various social setting, several of you I’d count as close personal friends, and a lot of you I’ve chatted with extensivly online. (Which BTW having talked for great lengths of time with people like Joe, Alan, Breda, Mike or Bruce online only, I found that the instant nature of modern electronic communications doesn’t really leave much of a gap when meeting face-to-face, Like when I shared a room with Mike W. at the NRA convention, I had NO idea what he looked like because he doesn’t post pictures of himself, but after that hurdle was clear we were talking like it wasn’t the first time we’d shaken hands…it DOES really suck that we’re all scattered across the countryside that I don’t get to hang out with these people face-to-face often)
I must say, knowing a few people who are diagnosed as on the Autism spectrum, and knowing a few others who are likely on it, I MUST say that the test appears to be deeply skewed. Also it seems that that skew is towards people who wear their big-kid pants. Most of these people are the type of people who would point out to a child, yes, Toy X is REALLY super cool, and it would be AWESOME to have it, but it costs MONEY, and we can’t afford it. Now sub that in to say pointing out to an adult relative or friend that their really cool sports car, or new gadget is likely spending above their means, or going to result in a crippling credit card bill. Now sub that in to the electorate promising a pie in the sky for an ever-growing tax burden.
Or how about not feeling sympathy for the jerk who is all ass-hurt that a black, or a gay, or a Mormon moved in down the street? Or how about saying “I don’t care if you don’t like the fact that I’m carrying a gun.”
If this behavior are symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome, well I think we need a LOT more of it in society.
