Bacon Vodka

So it begins. That’s 1 pound of Oscar Meyer low-sodium bacon in almost a half-gallon of Three Olives unflavored vodka. I tired to stuff it in two jars this time and had some left over vodka…I’ll put it to good use 😉 but splitting it 3 ways is probably the best idea.

Over the next month I’ll shake the jars every few days and watch the color. When the vodka becomes saturated I’ll chill it in the freezer and strain it through a cheese cloth. By that point it’ll be the color of a young whiskey, or most dark rums. And hopefully it’ll taste like a slice of heaven!

Warning from the infuser, So far this is my 3rd batch, and the last two I was not satisfied with the process. Stay tuned to see if I’ve perfected it.

Like Single Action Revolvers?

Jay is selling his Colt New Frontier .22 LR. Looks like a peach, and I will personally vouch that Jay takes EXCELLENT care of his guns, and I have personally done a gun swap with him, and I love the gun I got.

I know the feeling he’s in, he’s found a holy grail gun, and is dumping one he just don’t shoot much.

I did the same thing with my WASR-10 when I traded up for the Century L1A1, I don’t regret it.

So if cowboy guns in .22 LR are your thing, go over to Jay’s and see if he’s got what you want!

.357 Sig Case Failure

No idea what would cause this except a defect in the brass. I wouldn’t let it destroy my faith in .357 Sig because I have none (Gotta Razz Wally and MikeW.) or Speer Gold Dot which is a VERY nice loading.

Just interesting to see.

Also I’m curious how they got the neck out of the chamber “using a small screwdriver” without marring their fancy-pants conversion barrel.

Whole Lotta Bacon Goin’ On

In the Wee’d Kitchen we have BACON!!!

Have one batch in the oven for bacon vodka, and then I’ll cook a second batch for eating! Fun times!

FYI cooking bacon in the oven is awesome! Just put it on a rack in a pan and cook at 350 for 15 mins, no spattering, no burns, easy clean-up!

Terrorist “Gun Death”

In reading a lot of Conceal Carry books, its often mentioned that in Israel the first terrorist attacks against the Jews were mass-shootings, until Israel requested their citizens to carry concealed weapons, then the terrorists switched to the bomb and rocket attacks that are more familiar to us. Well this seems like a similar idea.

Al-Qaida urged Muslims in western countries to weld deadly steel blades to SUV vehicles and then plough into civilian crowds, in the second edition of the group’s online English-language magazine…In an article titled “The Ultimate Mowing Machine”, illustrated with a picture of an imposing civilian Ford four-by-four truck, the group suggests arming the vehicle as a spiked battering ram and targeting crowded areas.

I don’t know how they’ll conceal the ride getting to the crowd, but you can’t say driving it through a street fair, or a farmer’s market, or a line waiting to get into an event.

See we need to focus on “Gun Death” rather than violent crime, because while you’re working your ass off banning guns, a terrorist in a blade-studded F-150 will decapitate you and disembowel your kids!

NICE!

Tools They Use

Eck! liked an interesting article on Propiganda

Filene and his colleagues identified the seven most common “tricks of the trade” used by successful propagandists (Marlin 102-106: Propaganda Critic: Introduction). These seven techniques are called:

* Name Calling
* Glittering Generalities
* Transfer
* Testimonial
* Plain Folks
* Card Stacking
* Band Wagon

These techniques are designed to fool us because the appeal to our emotions rather than to our reason.

Really interesting read. Go have a look, and see if the stuff you read sounds familiar.

Quote of the Day: Reality Divorce

Again Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign, Million Mom March, and the Joyce Foundation, is a gift to all gunnies everywhere!

Hand grenades and RPGs are sold at gun shows all over the country. They could be sold by private sellers who may or may not require background checks.

I’m starting to wonder if Joan Peterson could tell the truth even on a dare!

TSA Sucks

I’ll just drop in with the money-Quote from Jalopnik

Understood. I’ve been going through security screening right here in this line for five years and never blown up an airplane, broken any laws, made any threats, or had a government agent call my boss in Houston. And you guys have never tried to touch me or see me naked that whole time. But, if that’s what it’s come to now, I don’t want to enter the facility that badly.

I pilot coming to work is told he needs to enter a full-body scanner which is a virtual strip-search. If you’re a man the person operating the machine will be able to see if you are circumscribed or not, women, the shape of your labia will be visible. The images are not terribly secure, and frankly I’m not impressed with the personel they have to run these things.

If you opt out you can elect to be frisked by a TSA employee (see again above link) or you can elect to leave the airport (and likely get an interview with law enforcement).

As Joe likes to say TSA is a Security Theater and it accomplishes nothing but making travel unpleasant. I’ll end on a maudlin tone because this subject depresses me.

Roberts reply: “If your perspective prevails – and I’m afraid it may – we may all live to find ourselves wishing we had fought in earlier days, when we still had a fighting chance.”

We can get lost rights back…but not without a strong fight…better to not let them slip through your fingers in the first place.

“Gun Death” Turlet!

Brutal murder, but I gotta Chuckle at the choice of tool.

Noting its gang-related overtones, a Calgary judge Tuesday ordered a city man to serve a minimum 12 years before he can be paroled for a toilet tank lid murder.

Justice Bryan Mahoney said such conduct, especially in the context of warring criminal organizations, had to be condemned by the courts.

You know if we ban guns…and knives, the gangs will have nothing to kill each other with and they’ll all sit down, maybe smoke a joint, and be friends.

Yeah right.
