So I subscribe to this Japanese Cocktail channel. It’s 100% Japanese with no English subtitles or even instructions. In stead you get to watch the TECHNIQUE of these bartenders in the Japanese style. They are VERY methodical, which gives it the feel of Flare Bartending, but vastly more practical. Also I’m fairly entrenched in the Cobbler Shaker (the 3-peice shaker with the integrated strainer) while most of the Western bars use a Boston Shaker (the two cups that are press fit together).
Have a look:
AMAZING technique! Not sure if his jiggers are graduated with half-marks or if he’s free-pouring the partial measures. I just prefer to use my graduated jigger, or break out the whole set of double jiggers.
Also he’s granulated sugar, not syrup, so he first dry stirs the cocktail THEN adds the ice and shakes.
Also I REALLY like that technique of dabbing the bar spoon on the back of the hand to sample the drink. Really brilliant, and it looks WAYYY classier than the western technique of dropping sip stick into the drink and capping it with a finger.
Look at that shake, that’s the Japanese hard shake which supposedly chills the drink as well as a Boston Shaker. I personally use a bigger shaker than this to allow for more travel of the cocktail with the shake.
But I have my complaints with this drink. WAYYYY too much sugar for my tastes. Also totally wrong glass for this drink. A cocktail coupe is OK for a classic cocktail (I personally am partial to the classic Cocktail/ Martini glass) but he’s only filling that little coupe half way. He needs to scale up the drink or get smaller glasses. You don’t need to pour to the rim, but in a cocktail glass it shouldn’t be only half full.
Now just one smacked out of the park!
GORGEOUS clear ice!
Good ingredients, and great technique that shows he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing.
Good stir then he fills that rocks glass right up, and notice how that clear mega-cube just vanishes in the glass!
And the twist just shows he’s not playing around.
So Sean was moving to his new house this week, so instead of a regular show, We bring you a special group show!
Sean tells you about another Sean Sorrentino. One who is a very naughty Sean Sorrentino. This Sean Sorrentino will not be podcasting where he is going.
Adam relates the horrifying story of the legal system run amok. Or is it? A teen is arrested on Felony Robbery charges for stealing a cup of soda from McDonalds!
Erin Palette holds an Ask Me Anything. About preps, you dirty minded people.
In our main topic, we endure the nails-on-a-chalkboard sound of Hillary and her daughter Chelsea confirming that a President Hillary Clinton will, in fact, be coming for your guns.
Special Guest Luke Apps, of The Triangle Tactical Podcast, thinks you should start a blog or a podcast. He’s a great person to tell you about it because he’s the person who encouraged me to start this podcast.
And finally, Weer’d plays a few clips from the latest episode of no one’s favorite anti-gun podcast, Loaded Conversations. To say that this woman has “issues” is to grossly understate it. You’ve got to hear it to believe it.

Isn’t it funny how forces who might consider themselves polar opposites can behave so similarly.
A coalition of 141 medical organizations sent a letter to four senior members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees on Wednesday urging them to restore funding for gun violence research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Center for DISEASE CONTROL. See the anti-gunners can’t use public safety anymore, because the public is SAFER when they get the hell out of the way. They have been woefully unsuccessful at trying to destroy gun ownership socially, since anti-gunners are just miserable people who want to lecture you on death and destruction, and talk down to experienced gun owners about how they really are too stupid to safely use a gun, or defend their life. Meanwhile pro-gun people CAN supply you with facts and data if you want….but if you don’t we can just take you shooting and we can have a lot of fun in a safe environment.
Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert signed two pieces of legislation on Tuesday that aim to combat what’s called “a sexually toxic environment” caused by porn.
“Pornography is a public health crisis. Today I signed two bills that will bring its dangers to light. S.C.R. 9 calls for additional research and education so that more individuals and families are aware of the harmful effects of pornography,” said Herbert on the governor’s Facebook page.
One is technically a resolution, and the other one is a bill:This resolution declares that pornography is “a public health hazard leading to a broad spectrum of individual and public health impacts and societal harms.”
So a non-binding resolution declaring pornography as a “public health crisis”.
BTW it’s such a “Crisis” that this happened:
A study into how porn affects men had to be scrapped and radically rethought after experts failed to find any young men who had not watched it.
Originally researchers at the University of Montreal wanted to compare the behavior of men who viewed sexually explicit material with those who had never looked at it all.
Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse says he had to drastically rethink his study after failing to find any male volunteers who had never viewed porn.
Porn is ubiquitous, even in Utah, and guess what, the sky isn’t falling! There are shitty people in shitty relationships, and good people in good relationships, and everything in between, and in the browser history is porn.
All I see is anti-freedom.
I don’t go to the can to hang out, or be social. I go there to wash my hands and rid myself of biological waste.
Honestly we could dump the whole gender thing entirely and have men and women all doing their thing in the same tiled room. Unless it’s an old sports stadium with the trough (BTW I do love these for their pure efficiency, but this IS the only restroom configuration where you will likely see anybody’s private parts) you aren’t seeing shit, so who fucking cares?
Period, end of transmission.
So this song was a HUGE hit recently:
Decent, but this is the first you’ve seen it here, and it’s in a related post.
Meanwhile you’ve seen Pentatonix here before, and my daughter loves them from this home run performance.
Combine them together, you have this amazing cover!
Amazing!
The 87th Episode it up here!
This week on The GunBlog VarietyCast, Adam is “On Assignment” in his bed, on post-surgery bed rest, so holding down the co-host chair is Erin Palette!
Just because Erin is co-host doesn’t mean she can’t do her final segment in her “Thinking about how we think” segment, “Why our brains reward failure.”
With all the other dangerous threats to US security, Nicki Kenyon decided today was the day to address that incredible threat posed by…. Panama?
In part 2 of his Batteries series, Silicon Graybeard explains the differences in charging the various rechargeable battery types.
And even though Adam and I talked about that anti-gun podcast two weeks ago, you just knew the Weer’d wanted to take a shot at it. Well here it is…
