I’ve never heard of a bobcat attack on humans, but I’ve seen a bunch of these guys and they are both big and powerful, so if I generally suggest people give them a wide berth, as they certainly have the capability of being VERY dangerous to people, and epically small children.
One subject I like to focus on here is that one should carry a defensive arm not only for criminal threats, but also for aggressive animals. Agressive dogs are probably the most common non-human creature that might threaten the life of you or a loved one, but with the shrinking of hunting culture and seasons, as well as urban sprawl, the chance of encountering a dangerous animal like a bear, a bobcat or a coyote can be quite realistic.
I’m glad Bob who lives in this area packs heat, you never know when you could suddenly be in grave danger, and that danger is not always from other humans.
The victim reported the robbery at police headquarters, 130 Pearl Street, and provided a description of the suspect.
The headline is really funny, and the story doesn’t give much detail about the actual robbery, but the nature of the story suggest that SOME form of violence must have been threatened (be it false threat of gun violence, or just brute force) for somebody to both give up their wallet AND to immediately report it to police.
But according to the forces who wish to strip us of our rights, this is a morally superior crime, as no gun was used. This is the world they would like us to live in.
I’ll start out With a Post from Joe in it his local anti-freedom Advocate, Ubu52. She takes exception to Joe refering to the right to own firearms as a natural human right.
She goes back and forth a bit and then Joe essentially points out they’re in agreement…so she doubles down:
I agree that self defense is a natural right, however “access to guns” is not. I’d be more willing to agree that “access to knives” is a natural right since you can make a knife out of almost anything. “Guns” are manufactured products that have nothing to do with natural rights.
We all have a “right to travel” yet “access to sportscars” is not a natural right.
Now AntiCitizenOne points out the simplicity of many firearms for manufacture. Hell just Google “Sten Gun” or “FP Liberator 45” or even “M3 Grease Gun” and you’ll quickly see that with even very crude metal-working skills one can make a firearm. And much to soil Ubu’s britches, two of the above guns are full-auto sub-machine guns.
Linoge (who owns a sports car himself) points out that her argument is a little thin with the “Right to Travel” but people do have the right to BUY sports cars if an agreed price can be met.
I see this as similar to the Heath care debate. Do we all have a right to health care? Yep! Do we have a right to PROVIDED Health care? NO NO NO! You see one statement says that Adolph Hitler making it a crime to treat Jewish sick people was bad. I would say that somebody attempting to punish a soldier for treating an enemy soldier’s wounds (and not neglecting any other duties, and capturing the soldier as a prisoner) is commuting a greater crime.
But PROVIDED Healthcare is essentially FORCING Doctors under penalty of law to treat the sick. If they are compensated for the treatment it will be at the Government’s terms, not the Doctor’s.
The same goes to the right to keep and bear arms. I’d first point out that a knife or a club is an arm and also should be protected. That being said you must acquire those tangible goods on your own. There are LOTS of guns I would like to buy TONIGHT! But I can’t because there are laws restricting me to that. There are people living in my state who have their rights to own handguns denied. And like DC and Chicago, to get the permit to exercise this right is both expensive and time-consuming. This is a human rights crime.
But look where Ubu goes. She talks about restricting access to cars. There’s a reason why, despite guns being in the subject this post is NOT about guns. You see the people who advocate for gun control in no way see that as their benchmark goal. They will move on to knives, to cars, to the food you eat, to the booze your drink, the tobacco you smoke, to the amount of exercise you do every day.
On to the bigger one:
We have Milton Friedman taking a question from a student about the safety oversights of the Ford Pinto. The student frames it as Ford making a judgment call on risk vs. dollar value. Friedman points out that the argument is a bad one because there comes a point (which is highly subjective) at which a dollar amount is foolish to protect a human life. Would you require all people pay $30 for a helmet when they ride and escalator to prevent the very few fatalities that happen every year. Would you agree to that? NO! I ride escalators damn near every day, several times a day. I have never been injured, never seen anything more than a skinned knee. Riding crowded subways I can only assume that its fractions of 1% of all escalator riders are INJURED, let alone killed. That $30 cost to me is absurd, and the massive cost to all of society is ludicrous. Yet the student makes that claim, and becomes petulant when Dr. Friedman points out the fallacy of his argument.
Now of course better yet this skinny kid is:

Michael Moore! Now Moore is a proponent of socialist health care regimes, yet he obviously has been making poor personal choices when it comes to his diet. His weight is a major health risk, but he won’t consider others under a national health care plan. Ford was negligent for choosing to omit a part as a cost savings for what they considered an unlikely accent…but Moore is not negligent for what will likely be a long life of health problems (that is if Obama isn’t a liar and there aren’t Death panels that will simply send Boxer the Horse to the Glue Factory once his hard work comes to an end).
You’ll also note that rather than actually thinking over what he’s being told by a respected expert in the field, Moore became petulant and angry and simply started restating his flawed argument louder. The only thing that has changed in this little boy is about 300 pounds and bad facial hair!
Left wing journalists, frustrated that others are presenting differing views, and rebuttals to their flawed arguments, as well as pushing stories They’d rather you not know about their idea is to have the government shut them down.
This is the face of authoritarianism, they want to control your life, and they will not stop until we are all in cages!
Thugs impersonating FBI agents attempting to gain access to a home. Appears not only have they done this multiple times before, but surprise-surprise, the police have no leads.
Of course that Police really do do raids like this makes it even scarier. One must make a split decision do defend yourself or not against what might be a criminal element, or an overreaching Police force.
If you resist and are right you can save the day. Resist and are wrong, you’ll likely be killed by the police, or tried for murder. Don’t resist and you’re wrong you’ll likely be murdered by the thugs.
Really scary and the only cure is to end SWAT midnight no-knock raids!
See, neither a gun death nor a gun crime! It appears he raped and murdered her with no tools but his brute strength! You or I might be totally disgusted by such a hideous crime, but people who hate gun rights see this as the exact peaceful world we should all live in!
Police documents say the two men tied up the victims and poured gasoline on and around them before setting the house on fire and fleeing in the family’s car. Both were arrested a short distance from the house in Cheshire, about 17 miles north of New Haven.
Hawke-Petit was strangled and the two girls died of smoke inhalation, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Of course the death penalty would be too cruel! I mean its not like these creeps used A GUN when breaking and entering, committing assault, committing multiple accounts of sexual assault, and multiple counts of murder, two through the result of arson.
I mean if they had used a gun and made this a “Gun Crime” the results would be uncivilized!
Again when an anti-freedom advocate speaks about “Gun Crime” or “Gun Death” let them know how sick they really are.
One hard thing in getting people involved in firearms ownership is helping them find a shop to try out new guns and make purchases.
Well it appears that the BATFE has a list of most FFL sorted by state. Just download the Excel file and search out the areas you’re near. Remember its the type 01 and type 02 FFLs are the ones that are “GUn Shops”, other FFLs are things like manufacturers and other stuff like that. Also for those who are creeped out by the BATFE 03 FFLs (collectors of Curios and Relics) are NOT listed. So you won’t find my address there!
Still there are still a few “Kitchen Table” FFLs, as well as the bizzare one held by Josh Sugarmann of the Violence Policy Center in Washington DC so if you think you found a shop you want to check out, it might be a good idea to look them up in the phone book and give them a call before you swing by, as it just might be somebody’s house who only opens for appointments. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as I’ve gone to several home-based gunshops and you can find some really neat stuff and some really good (and horrible) prices there.
Next time I’m in Maine, I just found a few 01 FFLs that are right near where I grew up…a few look like regular houses so I wonder if the address is right, but other places look like normal shops in parts of town I’d never been to.
I Mentioned GwarGwar in my last post. He has a great youtube channel. He talks about guns, which is how I found him, but he’s a cook by trade so he often does cooking videos.
I’m not the hugest fan of fried fish m’self, but I will note that his statement about picking quality fish is 100% correct.
The fish should have a good translucent color to it and it should not smell “like fish”. That fishy smell isn’t fish its ammonia from ROTTING fish. Any self respecting fishmonger will let you take a good sniff of the goods before they wrap things up and take your money.
Where the Mrs. works is having some sort of team-building exercise, and part of this exercise is to add 5 songs to a playlist. The songs must in effect summarize you and your musical tastes. Now first up this task is IMPOSSIBLE, as 5 songs is too few for a single genre, let alone ALL MUSIC. Still it seems like fun so here’s my 5, with youtube videos so you can listen.

It got me thinking about their album Point of View where an EWI was used for several breathtaking solos.
I’m a HUGE electronic fan, especially Goa Trance as I like music that pushes the human imagination. A singer or a trumpet player or other instrumentalist are only capable of a certain range of sound. With synthetics you can push that limit more to the extent of human imagination, than the capabilities to produce sound with hardware.
That being said, pure electronic I feel looses a LOT of its human edge, as its essentially just hands on a keyboard, and hands on a computer mouse blending and mixing effects. I always thought the EWI brought a LOT of that human feel to a performance, while allowing one to extend beyond the limits of a conventional wind instrument. Also because they’re very uncommon (as opposed to Electric guitars which work on a very similar principal) their sound is very alien to the ear.
