“Gun Death” Shaken Baby

Another Infanticide story here.

A Dakota County jury has found a Northfield man guilty of two counts of murder in the first degree in the death of his 17-month old stepson. A judge immediately sentenced Hokanson to life in prison.

Hokanson shook Nicholas Miller multiple times after arguing with his sister in law about how to discipline the child on June 19, 2009 in Northfield. The boy died four days later in a Wisconsin hospital.

Hokanson admitted to investigators that his shaking of the toddler might have contributed to his death.

An autopsy revealed several broken bones, bleeding on the brain and other injuries dating back several months.

I can’t even get into the mind of such a monster. To friends with babies I often joke that babies need to be cute because all the puke poop and crying is not something somebody would tolerate from something ugly looking. That being said when you hold a baby you are GRIPPED by the need to nurture and care is damn near compelling. To harm an infant enough to break bones and cause death is just terrifying.

And when killing a baby just a brisk shaking is all that’s you need to end a life. But if you’re a person who used the idea that “Gun Death” is a worthwhile metric, this dead baby isn’t even an issue….

As I often say, “Never, EVER, shake a baby. Babies should be stirred; otherwise, you’ll bruise the vermouth.”

  2. Jay G. says:

Sounds like someone ought to shake this puke until he’s got broken bones and bleeding on the brain…
