Local Murder

I got word of This Story yesterday evening, and it imminently reminded me of Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign and the Joyce Foundation’s constant crowing that banning guns somehow will end domestic violence, simply because her sister was shot by an estranged husband.

A husband and wife were discovered dead in their Westboro home Thursday in an apparent murder-suicide at the hands of the husband, according to police….Inside the home on Thomas Newton Drive, authorities discovered the bodies of Richard “Todd” and Rebecca.

The 41-year-old wife, a yoga instructor, was found dead in their basement. Autopsy reports of the wife showed she died of sharp-force injuries to the neck and blunt-force trauma to the head. Her 43-year-old husband was discovered dead in an upstairs bedroom. Authorities said his autopsy report is delayed pending the results of toxicology tests.

Seems there was a pending divorce, their upscale house was for sale in this shitty market, and his wife only worked part-time, and he was a PhD Research chemist. Sounds like she was going to take him to the cleaners in the divorce. Also given that he was a research chemist, and it appears he killed himself with a chemical injection, I suspect if this was pre-meditated he would have simply poisoned her without her knowledge. I suspect tempers flared and the bigger powerful man beat and stabbed her to death.

Also to all the “Gun Death” people, note he didn’t need a gun to murder his wife, he also didn’t need one to kill himself.

It seems so foolish to think if all the guns in the world evaporate somehow the wife-beaters won’t be able to kill their wives (yes I used that common parlance intentionally) and that sad people looking to end their lives will somehow be totally stumped on how to punch their own clock if they don’t have a gun to shoot themselves.

Of course I’d like to end with my heart-felt sympathy to the two children caught in the middle of this sick crime. Hopefully extended family can step in to fill the void created by their sudden orphaning, and to those who have lost a loved one in this crime.
